Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign sad day, but life events have to take precedemce. as for Terrie and I we have thouroghly enjoyed the GA campaign. we look forward to some time in the future perhaps firing up the game again. So if you ever want and are able to just give us a holler. as for our group, I am currently unable to take the GM mantle. I have set aside Thursdays for gaming, but I don't really have the time during the week to prepare. If someone else wants to run a game of any genre, Terrie and I would be glad to join in though. best wishes Nol, it's been great.
  4. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign I am glad to hear you are ok. I am also a Comcast customer, and I sympathize. For me when it works it works well, but when it dumps it goes all the way. I have had to have them replace my modem 3 times, and replace outside cable wires twice in the last 4 years.

  6. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign That was my recommendation to him a couple of weeks ago. Well here's hoping he has good luck getting his hardware squared away. I am working feverishly to finish restoring my data I lost. Thank goodness for backups. I actually lost very little, I just had so much that it is taking time to restore. Which in turn put a crimp in my plans for token artwork and macro coding. I should be back up to speed within a week or two at most. In the meantime Terrie and I are still up for playing at least.
  7. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign OK, 2009 officially sux so far... The video driver issue that I had last week finally is exposed. I had contracted a stinkin virus on my laptop. Consequently my I lost everything on the HDD including all of my art images. I have them backed up, but it will be a couple of weeks before I can produce any useful images. I have several hundred gigs of data and programs to restore first (some more urgent than my art stuff). I will still be able to play, but my other game efforts are on hold until I can get everything back in place.

I will start sending you some of the art work and tokens with macros attached tomorrow. Is there anything I can do to help you prepare, NPCs? artwork, anything like that? Heh, on a different note... Terrie got me Scourges of the Galaxy for Christmas. I was reading it this afternoon for a short while and there is a villain in it called... "Fast Eddy"
  9. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign I have completed... MEGAMAN!!! It is a generic token that contains an individual macro button for every characteristic roll, Skill, Perk, Talent, Power, and Disadvantage in the Hero System. It also has a macro that simply throws a list of your characteristics into the chat window. I am working on making that one a whisper to yourself. I am now just waiting on Nols code to complete the macros so that they actually roll something when you click on them. Nol, if you have changed the token properties under campaign properties as far I will need a copy of the updated campaign file. I intend to set the macros so that they call the token properties. This was if for example DEX changes, all of the dex based macros will automatically work properly without having to edit your macros. The only time we should have to directly edit the macro code is if you raise your skill or power level directly. The hard part is done. The rest is just cut and paste of Nol's code, then save the token. Make a few copies and customize the attached macros, rename the token and add the applicable artwork. Most of the macro customization will consist of deleting skills, perks, talents, powers, and disadvantages that the character or NPC don't have.
  10. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign I actually posed that question to some of the Heroes on the RPTools forums. They had not considered half die for normal attacks. I will have the tokens created with empty macro buttons attached and labeled so that when you finalize the code I can just cut and paste.

  12. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Yeah there seems to be a running conversation in several threads where GMs have stated explcitely that they are trying eliminate cheating. IMHO if you are going to cheat, what's the point in playing to begin with. In the Champions thread (not the Hero 5th ed) I believe around page 18 Brad posted a video tutorial on the usage of his macros. I thought I had posted a link to it a couple pages back in this thread, and in the Dark Matter Rising thread. While speaking of properties... we either need a campaign property where we can explicitly set a vlaue for base OCV & DCV.
  13. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign If you peruse the User Creations forum on the RPTools website, there are two threads there about Champions and Hero Macros respectively. They have some sample code posted, and they are also great about answering questions. This is where Brad, Necon99, RPMiller, and other Hero MT users hang out and they may be able to help. As for autofire attacks, there may not be a way tp simplify the code much, AF is a complex thing programatically, at least the hit roll. However, the new code does support looping, and if/then type codes. You can also have one macro call another. So the best bet may be to have the AF do a hit roll and then loop a number of times equal to the shots fired. Each loop should display the DCV hit and call a damage roll macro, roll for hit location, display the results, then decrement the DCV Hit varaiable by 2 and loop again, until the number of shots is reached. as for hit locations, We can build our own table, but I am able to see and edit the tables with no problems, so I am at a loss as to why you are unable to see them. However, if you want to use the soak macro to apply/automate damage tracking, all we really need is the location to display. It has a drop down so you can enter the damage done, the type of damage, and the location, then it applies all of the location modifiers, including defenses, and displays the results. I am going to be working on macros/tokens this weekend to polish TaRang, and Finish Doc, and Torgath, I will them build some token with macros for Harkep, and some generic Hero type tokens (incompetent, normal, competent, and heroic templates). Then we can put these in our token libraries complete with some generic macros, and anytime we need a quick NPC just drop one on the map, rename it and bango... 15 second NPC. For an Image of these I am thinking on just using the Heroman image for the generic tokens, is that cool? or should I use something different?

  15. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign I have Wades, Doc's, TaRangs, and Strong's (Terrie's Backup Character), and a basic Tobias/creatures, Tokens built. I have a few polishing touches and then I will get the artwork mailed to Nol. I can load the tokens onec the server is up, but for the artork to appear correctly for ev everyone, they need to be stored/loaded initially from the server. I used old/generic images for the tokens. The new functionality makes changing a tokens image a matter of a few clicks, so no problems there GA. I can be patient. Brad has begun rebuidling are Hero Macro library to take advantage of some new b48 funtionlaity. The new macroes will NOT invalidate or make anything we are currently using non-functional, but they will give us some cool options. For example currently we are contrained in the skill builder to only 20 skills, without tweaking the campaign properties (which in turn affects all of the tokens in the game). With the new stuff we can build a library token , which is hidden but holds all of the skills in the game. Then you attach a token to your character that has a drop down list or radio button. You select your skill from the list, it calls to macro from the library and adds the appropriate stats/mods based on your character sheet... and BAM dice roll So with about half a dozen macroes you can make almost any Hero dice roll you could imagine, whether they are skills, powers, talents, stats, etc. We will even be able to select target toksn and the MT engine will apply the damage from our rolls to the targets stat taking into consideration defenses, range, etc. and then flag the token as being stuned, unconscious, wounded, dead, mind controlled, etc... In any case MT has finally with B48 reached a point where we can independantly develop game functionality to suit our campaigns without having to consantly upgrade versions. This is an exciting time to be involved in gaming, and with this group we are doubly fortunate. I am really jazzed to get back to playing tonight. See ya then

I think I have a plan to extricate our collective hineys from the clutches of the most evil Dar'Gredick. And yes I stole the dream... er idea, from Star Wars... TaRang, Elvis, and Sam should confront Dar'Gredick... Killian, Doc, and Micah should seek out the power/control center and shut down the tractors, and shields... Wade should sneak into the hangar and steal aboard a ship and prep it for escape takeoff... Then in a pulse pounding climax we all meet in the hangar and blast off shooting With a little luck, someone (hint, hint) from our fledgling fleet has noticed we have gone missing and an urgently organized battle group is on its way to try and find/rescue us? If this was to happen I promise not to blow up another ship... at least for this evening

  18. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Thanks GA! In the meantime I have setup new tokens for TaRang, Doc, and Wade using the old images I had archived. The new MT functionality makes changing token Images really easy In fact 5 or 6 mouse clicks. We now have a Hero based explosion macro that does killing, normal, stun only, and flash damage, and you can change the rate the explosion reduces damage. Brad made it for us and it really rocks! By the way, Merry Christmas to everyone, in case I don't get a chance to post again before the big day .

  20. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign As a quick note, on the character vault page I have left a generic token with all of the token properties and base macros already loaded. If you follow the steps below it will save you some significant time creating your own tokens/macros. 1) First make sure you have an image you want to use as your token. Do not load the image yet. This can be any jpg or png file, but I recommend a top down shot, processed through Token tool if you want a token base. Please don't edit the generic token directly, first make a copy and then edit the copy as follows. 2) Right click on the generic token of the old man and select copy from the popup menu. 3) Move your mouse cursor to an open spot on the map, and press CTRL - V on your keyboard. This should paste a copy of the generic token for you to edit. 4) Double click the token you just pasted. 5) In the window that opens delete the name "Generic Token" and type your characters name as you want it to appear. 6) To the left of the name box is a picture of the old man. Click the little red plus sign in the upper right hand corner of the picture. A search/browse box opens. 7) Browse to the picture you want to use for your token. Note this is how the token will look to everyone. 8) Click the new image and then click OK to load the image. At this point I would exit the token by clicking outside of it and then use a right click and save to safeguard your new token. 9) Click opnce on the token to select it and your basic macros should appear in the Selection Tab. 10) Use first the Character Sheet, and then the Character Sheet2 macro buttons to fill in your characters game information. 11) Use the Armor builder macro to build any type of defenses you have like armor force fields, Damage resistance, etc. 12) Use the attack builder to build any attacks you have like martial arts, weapons, or attack powers. 13) Use the levels shhet to add any skill levels or CSLs that you have 14) Use the skill builder to add any skills that you have. Finally once this is all done, right click and save your token one last time. Then send both a copy of the token file (for example mine is Wade.rptok) and a copy of the actual art png files to the GM. He must have a copy of the artwork on his server for everyone to be able to see the images. If you see an image that shows as a big red question mark instead of a picture, that is the cause. I hope this helps everyone.

In the meantime he sent me his latest incarnation of TaRang so that I can set up his token and macros in preparation for the 1st. GA can you send me perhaps a copy of the TaRang model you made (ac opy of Doc would be cool too). Or perhaps a face shot, a full body shot, and a top down shot in png format? Brad is working on a custom explosion macro, specifically for our group I hope everyone has a great Christmas! oh yeah... my server is up if anyone wants to work on token macros.

I am not going to be able to run tomorrow night, I have some family business I need to take care of. So I guess our holiday break will start a week early. I will however keep putting the server up each weekend sop people can work on thier token macroes if desired. It is build 1.3b48. I have already sent Nol a copy of the base Hero campaign file to support our tokens and all of the new functionality.
  24. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Sorry I am late, I got distracted by family, birthday, and Christmas stuff. I have opened an MT server using MT version 1.3b48. If anyone wants to load it up and work on your tokens/macros. Create a token image or art image you want to use for your token and place it where ever you save your token pictures. Once you connect there is a token with the face of an old man labeled Generic Token. Right click the token and select copy from the pop-up menu. Move your mouse cursor to an open spot on the map and press CTRL and V on your computer to paste a copy of the generic token on the map. Double click (left mouse key) on the new token and edit/change the name from Generic Token, to your characters name. Click the little plus sign in the upper right hand corner of the and use the search dailog to change the old mans picture to your own. Edit the properties on the properties tab to refelect your character stats. Click out side the toekn to close the dialog box Right click the token and select save from the popup menu Finally, and this is really important if you want the artwork to show as something other than a big red question mark... SEND the GM both the Token file and the Art file.
