  1. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign So this means that WADE is the stuff dreams are made of... Thought so I will stir up the old gray matter and send you some ideas for Wade, Sgt. Torgath, and some of Terrie's ideas on Doc.
  2. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign I am not advocating changing from ORPG to MT. I am simply posting the result of my playing with it to try and resolve the issues we had. IMO MT would be a superior platform IF (big if here) I/we/the MT community, can solve the issues that make it problematic. But I am in full agreement that we NEED to stay with what works until or if things change. And even then we may not want to change, but at that point it MIGHT be worth considering. I just enjoy the challenge of trying to figure it out.
  3. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Hmm... I hadn't considered that. Would some be able to connect while others not if I have a dynamic IP address? And if so should I setup/get a static IP address ( I am not sure if I would need to buy a statis IP from my ISP or if I already have one as I am a broadband cable subscriber). If that proves to be the case then this could be more of a server issue than a client issue...
  4. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Let me star by saying I hope the boy is well. IMHO you do enough for us with your great GMing, Terrie and I would be mad if we found that you didn't take time for your family in this situation, they should always come first. Best wishes... So in lieu of a game Jim and I spent about 2 hours loading and testing MT. we have eliminated his router as the cause. I set up a server and Tim, through the same router, was able to connect with no problem. Yet on Jims Dell he gets an I/O Java Error: Sesssion Reset message. And on His wifes E-Machine he gets the connecting screen and then everything locks, MT never connects to the server. All three machines are connected through the same router and all three have net connectivity (Jim was able to get to various websites from both machines). We tried uninstalling, redownloading, and re-installing Java and MT, with no results. Both machines are running XP SP3. His wife's machine used to be able to make the MT connection. It used to be mine and was the machine I used durng our first year and a half of gaming as a group. Since we eliminated my server and his router as the cause, but found no solution, I posted our test results and parameters to the MT forum. Perhaps Trevor or one of the other Devs can help us figure it out.
  5. Re: 50% off Fantacy Hero Material Thanks for the heads up, bought the whole Hero set.
  6. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Nice !!! as to the question... it depends. Are you taking Wade? Thats the difference between heaven and hell. I'll leave it up to you to decide whether taking Wade means heaven or hell
  7. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Oh yeah... just FYI And please do NOT construe this to mean I think we should start with the musical programs again... this is just information against possible future use, IF the app becomes more stable... MT 1.3b40 Finally added Init tool into an internal panel, and the app has gained some very advanced scripting capabilities that support "if" "or" and variables. You can also create variables that hold formulas, and dice which can be called from within macros. You can also create a macro and then propogate those macros over to other tokens. There are some folks that have begun working on creating macro libaries, so that we can access premade macros that can be added directly to tokens. There are some new script capabilities that we can use to have MT calculate current Body, STUN, END, Charges, ETC and ... we can set macros to Heal those stats (recovery) and MT will stop the REC once the Stat reaches its Max value. Of course the bad part is that there are still rampant reports of connection problems, campaign file corruptions, etc... So I am firmly in the camp of watching to see the improvements but stay with what we have for the foreseeable future until or if the MT team solves the connection, and corruption issues. Overall though exciting stuff
  8. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign I likes that schedule... tentatively... I think
  9. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign OMG ITS ALIVE Terrie says she will go with the majority vote, she likes both games. I want to finish the story arc we are in with FH, and I would love to return to the FH game periodically, but my overall preference is for GA. Wade is just beginning to mature a bit... maybe... sort of... NOT And of course there is also Sgt Torgath So get busy Seriously though, IRRC our next game is scheduled for 4 Sep, right?
  10. Re: Posleen? Even the God-Kings aren't much of a threat without the Posleen technology. I would start by creating their weapons, and ships. as for the Posleen themselves, they are a reptilian-centauroid race (I picture a sort of equine/velociraptor). They are carnivorous, cannibalistic, and act in hive mentallity type order. Drones (the common Posleen) only do three things normally. They eat, breed, and fight on command of the God-King. I would make a single Posleen character, then add INT, EGO, and the mind control ability to varying degrees to represent the different "Upper Ranks" of Posleen, the higher the rank to more INT etc. I would think the God-King must also have some form of rudimentary mind control. They communicate primarily vocally, but they also have the effect of making their drones act semi-intelligently. Kill the good king and the unit almost instantly loses cohesion and the drones start runnning away, killing each other, attacking almost anything that moves, simply stopping in place, or acting generally confused, until another God-King can assert his influence. Their primart weapon is the Boma-blade, a sort of extremely sharp sword that can even cut most types of armor given time. Their secondary weapon is an energy type firearm. The Posleen seem to be totally land based, earths Naval forces were almost totally ignored by the Posleen until they proved to be a threat by attacking land forces.
  11. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign We're baaaACK!!!
  12. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign I bow before you!!! That is fantastic
  13. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Gevara-del...
  14. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Nice!!! And Terrie said to tell you she loves it too
  15. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Yup, I can't connect either. it could be a password issue.
  16. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Oh great!!! You can't fly dragons so you make a FH TaRang with Wades personality Arianne is a human female Ranger and Gevara-del is her long lost twin brother Tran Duhk Martial Artist/Dahla-Arkaja Adpet Mage. I'll let the smilies speak for our characters attitudes.
  17. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Attached is a text doc with all of the Hero type maptools notes I could put together. I hope this helps everyone. We will most likely need to wait until we log into Nol's server to be able to setup and then save our tokens with macros intact. Once done however we can use scripts that call variables from our macro properties. in any case enjoy
  18. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Maptools report The current build is 1.3b34. The current release is 1.3b32. I downloaded and played with b34, for about an hour and the dev team has really been working hard on increasing the ease of use and versatility of macros, variables, and tables to automate the mechanics behind any game system. My recommendation would be for us as a group to use b34 and STAY with b34 until some major "we just can't live without" Hero functionality comes along. Which will probably not be for at least 4 or 5 builds or even possibly version 2. The token macros and standard macro buttons still work pretty much the same as they always did, but tables and variables are starting to really shine. Plus tables, tokens, and campiagn preferences can be saved out as seperate files and then imported into a new campaign. For Token property sheets I would recommend that we decide what common stats we want and then have the GM create the core campaign file and send it to us, we can then in turn import it and be able to all have common functionality. The same goes for tables we can all create tables and share them, but remember that th GM must host the tables on the server for us to be able to access them during the game. Token Property sheets are much more versatile now and if desired we can have a fairly detailed character sheet attached to the token. With the use of variables we can have stat based skill macros auto-calculate the correct roll real time so if you raise your dex for instance you don't have to go back and edit all those dex based skill macros. In addition there are a great set of tutorial videos that have been created and they are linked under the help menu in maptools. Just click help -> Tutorials. There are a couple of Hero specific macro examples that we could adopt. One calculates the total stun and body damage taken after defenses. it work like this... 1) The attacker rolls normally and calulates total damage. 2) the defender clicks his damage taken macro and enters the body and stun totals and the screen shows the total that is actually taken. Well thats my report for tonight... gotta go dream about mages. I will need some input from Nol on how we are going to handle spells (individual purchase with a cost multiplier (typically x.3333 in TA), VPP, MP, etc...?
  19. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Sergeant Tolgrath is nearing completion... I will send the HDC tomorrow.
  20. Re: Remember the binoculars from Star Wars? Many years ago, I drove a big rig for a short while. The company I drove for (and most others from what I gathered from fellow drivers), required us to put "meat locks" on the back doors of our trucks whenever we went into New York City or New Jersey, for just that very reason. Without the locks when you pulled up to a light thugs would jump on the back bumper of your truck and open the doors. They would then climb in and throw out cargo to trucks, vans or people along side as the truck went on its way down the road. The "meat locks were a clamping contraption that required a special "keyed" socket wrench to unclamp and then open the doors.
  21. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Hey GA... Over at DAZ they are giving a away a limited version of Face Shop 3.7 for free until years end. The give away is a plgin for Daz Studio. Face shop allows you to take a photograph of a family member, celebrity, creature, etc and create a morph for V4.2 or M3 (the pro version will support any obj based 3d character). The freebie is limited in utility, but if you like it you can upgrade to the pro version (I bought pro a long time ago). The pro version will work as a DS plugin or a stand alone program. As a stand alone I can use model with either Poser or DS. if you decied to take a look at it make sure to download the DS 2.2.2.17 version from the DS beta site, not the version on download.com. I posted links in the other software forum.
  22. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Specially if she offers to remove Wades tat
  23. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Aw shucks... you guys Ok... now I think I have a plan to get a nice chunk of change to help refit, upgrade, and re-arm "Samantha's Fury"... If my idea works, I may even have enough left to almost pay off Jerry for the ship in the first place (besides I need to get a definative number on what I owe). And best suprise of all... it's legal and no one gets shot
  24. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Guys... I want to apologize for dozing at the keyboard. I had been up since around 2 a.m. and was pretty tired. When I started to doze, I asked Terrie to rouse me if someone chatted to Wade, or if she needed my assistance. Instead... and I am not upset with her, she ratted me out and told you guys I was dozing. Oh well, I will be better rested in the future, even if I have to take a quick nap before game time. It is hell gettin old. Back in the day I could stay up for over 48 hours without much effect... sheesh.
  25. Re: Gemini Ascendant Campaign Heh, I helped him and we basically used an AIM-7 Sparrow clone, renamed as the "Starlance MK V"
