  1. Re: Who would you recreate? I have thought along these lines many times. Some of what I came up with: Dr. Strange: Dr. Victoria Strange (Victoria Franks until she married Prof. Hugo Strange) is a direct decendant of Baron Dr. Victor Frankenstein. She has continued her ancestor's work, but with a twist. Her creation is assembled from the corpses of dead super-humans. If all goes well, her creation, Adam Strange, will have the combined powers of over a dozen deceased super humans. The Red Skull: The Red Skull is a young vigilante/martial artist. He takes his name from the ancient skull-mask he wears. This mask has some supernatural power bound up in it which increases his strength and agility, as well as granting him the ability to strike certain creatures who are normally intangible in the mortal realm (such as ghosts and unanchored spirits). Hourman: Hourman is a mysterious figure with a very limited time-travel power. He can transport himself and a number of others exactly 1 hour into the past. Once he has traveled back an hour, he cannot go further, and he cannot re-travel that same hour again. (more a GM device than a PC) The Bat-Man: The Bat-Man is a mysterious creature haunting the night sky above Campaign City. He is a humanoid bat, with incredible strength and flight speed, but animal intelligence. He hasn't been a genuine threat until recently, when he began attacking humans and other large animals. It's possible that the creature has become rabid or contracted some other disease. Wonder Man and Wonder Woman: The Wonders are a married couple who have been in the superhero business for over a decade. They use their brains as their primary weapons, carrying an array of hi-tech gadgets including rocket-packs, force-field belts, stun blasters, gas grenades, and other hi-tech electronics. Each swears that the other is the creative genius behind the devices. Mr. Fantastic: Mr. Fantastic was the greatest hero of the Golden Age. During WW II, he used his powers of super-strength and speed, flight, near invulnerability, and lightning blasts to fight the Axis powers. He dissapeared around the end of the war, and no one is sure what happened to him. I have had more of these ideas, but this is all I can think of right now. Might be a combination of 3 1/2 hours sleep and "A Christmas Story" playing on the TV.
  2. Re: New Superman movie trailer with tonight's Smallville Personally, I have been a Smallville fan since season 1. And, yeah, there have been a few week episodes, but overall I have really enjoyed it. I love the friendship between Clark and Lex, although I wouldn't mind seeing Lionel just go away at this point. As for the movie trailer, it gave me goosebumps. Brandon Routh looks dead-on in the costume, and the new Lois leaves Margot Kidder in the dirt. I hadn't heard anything about her having a kid, though, although I did know she would be in a relationship with Perry's son. Well, just throwing in my two bits.
  3. Re: Alternate Settings: Rules to villany Frankly, to me, this sounds really good as a comedy campaign. I don't think players could take it seriously for long, and as a GM, I know I couldn't. I can picture The Tick, caught in a death-trap, pulling out the Hero/Villain Code Book, and informing Chairface that according to article 1, clause 5, the Villain is supposed to leave the room while the Hero escapes, so that the Hero's appearance later can take the Villain by surprise.
  4. Re: But I want to play Champions In my old group, it seemed like whoever really wanted to play a certain game was always the one who ended up running it. For example, my friend John always ended up running Star Wars, I always bended up running Champions (or some other supers-game), etc. Why? Because it turned out that whoever was most interested in a particular game was always the best GM for that game. They had the most knowledge of the setting and genre, the most ideas for it, the most flexibility within the setting, etc. Kinda sux, huh?
  5. Just thought I'd clue the Champions community in to a good website I found for generic superhero minis. Check out http://www.superfigs.net. I have been looking for good, no-specific-character super-minis for years, and I finally found some. Makes me want even more to find a group and get running again.
  6. Re: I could watch him get slapped around all day Between this thread and the "Cap vs. Midnighter" thread, I got to wondering. What would happen if Midnighter got into a fight he absolutely could not win? I would love to see this. "I've already run this battle a million times in my mind. I know every move you're going to make. And I can't beat you. No matter what I do, you're going to kill me. I just s**t myself." :celebrate :celebrate :celebrate

    Comic books

Re: Comic books I love this. The article, especially. It reminds me of an issue of "Astro City" where a soap-opera added a superhero to the show (the Crimson Couger, IIRC) in order to be more realistic. It seems to me that in a world filled with mutants and other costumed meta-humans, there would be such characters in those shows, as well as others. These shows could either concentrate almost entirely on the character's "superhumanity" (kind of how "Will and Grace" focuses almost entirely on Will's homosexuality), or it could just be a background note (like the guy on "Spin City" who just happened to be gay).
  8. Re: Millennium Force Fallen Sorry I haven't been able to make it back. I suggest you keep running with who you have, though. And, I hearby give you permission to run Voltage as an NPC from this point on. I will try to make it back once in a while for a guest-spot and/or to run the Atlantis game. I may have a Saturday off coming up, soon. Send me a private message for details. Good luck.
  9. Re: Favorite Superhero Lines So many, most of which have already been posted. Superman, "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns" "They'll kill us if they can, Bruce. Every year, they grow smaller, every year they hate us more. We must not remind them that giants walk the Earth."
  10. Is there one thing your character would really like to do, given the chance? If the opportunity presented itself, what's the one thing your character has always dreamed of doing? I'll use my characters as examples: Voltage: Wants to ask Dr. Destroyer if he likes "pie." Or, perhaps, if he prefers "strudel." Tank: Wants to go one-on-one with Grond. Mass: Wants to prove that all gods, heroes, and important figures from all myth and religion were really early super-humans. What about yours?
  11. Re: Theme music Oh! And my group says that U2's "I still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" should be our group's theme, as every session seems to start out with the GM (whether it's me or someone else) searching for something or other.
  12. Re: Theme music The only time I've ever been able to do this was in a Star Wars game, where I played the soundtrack in the background. Although I am going to try using a certain song when I finally introduce the big, mystical villain I've been building up to. Oh, I also find "Duel of The Fates" from SW:TPM works very well for a surprise entrance by a big villain (go figure).
  13. Re: Alternate Earth 20: Paradise Island Lost Voltage would probably be a lot less obvious about his attraction to the female form. Afterall, wouldn't want anyone to think he was a slut (even though he probably would be). Would pose for Playgirl, if asked (but heck, he'd do that in his regular world, anyway). Wouldn't be so quick to take the team leader role in combat, and would more often defer to The Greek or Kalidescope.
  14. Re: Alternate Earth #22—World of your Dreams Voltage would be the leader of the Champions, and the team would be made up of the 20 most powerful superheroes on the planet. Thanks to this mega-team, Dr. Destroyer is currently serving 100 consecutive life sentences, Takofanes has been destroyed and his soul condemned to Hell for all Eternity, and Mechanon has been reprogrammed and is a valuable member of the team. They are currently planning the final battle against VIPER, in which Voltage will lead all the world's superheroes to ultimate victory over that evil organization, finally breaking its power and bringing all its agents, commanders, and leaders. to justice.
