  2. Re: 1st Season Magical Girl Template

    [

    1st Episode Magical Girl Package

75 base points, 75 pts in Disads.

    Powers:

    1) Instant Change. Required: Full Phase Activation, Suggested: Incantations and Gestures. (Should total out to 2 or 3 pts.)

    2) 30 MAX Active Points of ONE Power of the player's choice, usually Energy Blast, Flash, Darkness, Force Wall. (required) Minimum -1 worth of limitations, usually Gestures, Incantations, requires EGO Roll (to represent insecurity or fear), extra time, Extra END, or OAF. Also requires "Only in Hero ID". (Should end up being 10-15 read points.)

    3) Three 8-pt Combat Levels, Required: Only in Hero ID. (End up being around 6pts each, for total of 18pts)

    4) Mind Link with teammates, only to sense when teammates are in Danger (-1). (Never Only in HERO ID (Should be 5pts.)

    5) 3 Martial Arts Maneuvers, Only in Hero ID. (Assuming they're 4pts each, then they become 3 each for 9pt total.)

Total: 44-50pts (which leaves at least 100 pts to play with)

    Suggested Disads:

Normal Characteristic Maxima (20pts, optional), Secret ID (15pts), Hunted by Villian Gang (More powerful, 11<: 20pts).

So the Disads alone pay for the Package.

We end up with a Magical Girl (or Boy) who can put up a good fight, knows when their teammates are in trouble, and can dodge like heck while whipping off their special attack on occasion. This is in addition to being a competant 100pt Normal character with reasonable stats and skills.

    Looks about right to me.

    UltraRob [/b]

You don't mind if you can redo my PC in the first season style

but tie the dreamzone powers into it[include the magic sand as a focus for transforms] making her a first time magic girl/msytic novice. I'll send it in by email.

"King Arthur and The Knights of the Round Table" -- At least I think that's the title. In this animated feature, the "knights" are a baseball team summoned backward in time by Merlin to take the roles of the missing King Arthur and his pals. In addition to being skilled athletes, they have Iron Man style mystic armor to enable them to beat off the bad guys. And they occasionally put their 20th century knowledge of science to use, too.

"Genesis Survivor: Gaiarth" -- In this anime trilogy, a society recovering from the effects of a high-tech holocaust regards technology as magic, having lost the ability to reproduce the wonders of the past. Characters who cast "spells" are actually using ancient ECM and weaponry without fully understanding what they're doing. The artifacts that still work are awesomely powerful, and soldier robots roam the wasteland as knights errant.

Actually the real title is :KING ARTHUR AND THE KNIGHTS OF JUSTICE.

and Arthur and his buds are a football team summoned back to Camelot to help Merlin against Mrogan Le Fay and her Warlords of stone.

  5. My Magical Girl-- Dreamstar!

I've played a Magical Girl/mystic character, her name is Dreamstar and her powers come from a combination of Q'rrymm energies, magic and energies from the Dreamzone[CHAMPIONS 3-D]. That quirky combo came as a result of being in a coma for almost ten years after being hit by a stray blast of energy in a battle.

she can absorb energy and convert it to pure magic via her crystal medallion for a variety of attacks and spells.

If you had to rename Detroit after the catastrophe, how would you go about doing it? Just idle curiosity on my part, I'd be interested in hearing the thought processes of other world creators.

I base my city by combining names or substituting names for current cities:

Newark NJ = New Arkham NJ

    Raleigh=Capitolis NC

Durham = Bull City or Med City

    Philadelphia PA= Patriot City[from Freedom Force,what else?}

Just think of a name that is associated with the state or the city and subsitute that name for its actual name in your campaign.

I'm having trouble with a phenomenon that usually doesn't pop up in the comics much. My group of 4 PCs have all gained children, whether through natural processes, adopting, or building them. There aren't many mainstream comics aside from the FF that have prominent kid characters, and I don't read any books that have multiple teenagers per family (one PC has 5!)

I'm especially puzzled by what to do with one PC's children. SHe's, paradoxily, 18 years old and team leader. She's recently admitted to having a robot child on live TV. RObot as in silvery android in 16 looking body with emotional maturity level between 6-12 made from her and her boyfriend's brain patterns. I'm wondering how the media and nation would handle this.

Aside from that, I'm just interested in how anyone else handles caped kids.

Other than the comic series mentioned try out YOUNG JUSTICE sometime it stars the current teen heroes as a team fighting all kinds of bad guys. Also there's SINS OF YOUTH a mini series in which all of the adult super heroes were transformed into kids and vice versa by a extradimensional brat called Klarion the Witch Boy and a blast from a gun used by Doilby Dickles from the golden age Green Lantern comics. Read it sometime it's a Howl! :D

Actually I'm thinking more of an 5th ed upgrade for Stormfront or rather THE STORMLORDS ! Catchy name huh? We should keep the names as they were. As for the writeups the only exception is Deathbolt. I'll leave him up to your imagination.

  16. ATTENTION ALL HEROES!

Recently I've dug up an issue of White Wolf Magazine taht happens to be a super hero issue[for superhero RPGs].

While reading it I came accross a villian team that can be used for a 5th ed Champions campaign. They are called STORMFRONT and they gained their powers from a crystalized computer call the Font.

    here's their History:

In the days of the Late Mesizoic, there arose an intelligent race decended from the florishing reptile life: the K'Saaa.

These creatures were gifted with latent physhic powers that, over the five million years of the Empire, developed into true sorcery. They delved into the fabric of nature, explored the heavens, shaped the continents to their liking and extended thier influence over the ecosystem. Finally, though, they sought to tear asunder the natural order of things, for thier seers saw that they would be replaced by scurrying mammals. The rituals they attempted were so powerful that they destroyed what the K'Saaa were trying to perserve. Their works were thrown down and their Empire vanished like a soap bubble overnight. The K'Saaa were not,due to their mastery of scorcery, an artifact producing culture, and what little physical evidence they left behind was easily overlooked by humans millennia later.

The K'Saaa did,in their 400th millennium, create one very important artifact: the Font. The font was a great crystal taht served as a combination library/power source/guardian for the race as a whole. When the Vanishing came, the Font was shattered. In thier last hours, many of the K'Saaa tried to use the Font to stem the destruction, but to no avail. Much of the crystal was rendered into inert dust, but a few pieces with magical potency yet intact survived. Called Shards by human and pre human wizards over the eons, they are highly treasured as power sources and weapons. Most weilders of the Art have been able to ignore the half heard whispers that seem to sometimes come from them late at night.

[Hey bear with me will ya? this explains where Stromfront's powers came from]

In the spring of 1971,Jeffery Masters,a Professor of Metaphysics at River City University, stepped down from his post due to 'exhaustion'. The truth was that in trying to prove a theory of his involving Merlin's Sword,he caused the deaths of four students and the destruction of a priceless artifact. Only the intervention of the sorcerous 'superheroine' Lady Mystery kept more people from being killed by the Thing that was summoned.

University officals, ever mindful of scandal and because police reports concluded that whatever had killed the kids was not human in the least, opted to disassociate Dr. Masters from the University.

Unknown to the officials and even to most mages in the area,Jeffery was from a long line of thaumaturges taht stretched back to the days of Rome. The 'accident' was a deliberate sacrifice in exchange for knowledge. that bit of information was the key taht peiced together the final scraps of a puzzle that had driven both his father and grandfather to an early grave--a legend of a source of incredible power.

A scholar of no small worth, it took Jeffery ten months to tie up his business in America and start on a journey that was to take him from the Rare Book room of a certain New England collage to a cabal of corrupt Grecian monks and finally to a spur of rock fifty miles off the coast of Greenland.

On that Spur of Rock Jeffery Masters found one of the last undiscovered shards and the largest one found to date. Most Shards sre hand sized;the largest found previously was the size of a sword, for their power is directly propostional to thier size. Jefery's crystal was twice as tall as a man and gave it's master complete control over the weather.

For more than ten years,Jefery Masters vanished as he strove to master the powers within the Storm Shard. A lesser man would have consumed by the awareness that dwelled within,

a more moral man would have tried to destroy the Shard.

Jeffery was neither petty nor moral, and after years of physchic struggle, he bent the powers contained within the

Storm Shard to his will. For a few more years,Jeffery explored the powers within himself and seldom found limits to them. His most important discovery was that he can grant part of this power to others.

After years of isolation, with only the inhuman prescence of the Strom Shard for company,Jefery decided to reenter the world of men. But not as a scholar, nor as a teacher. No, Jefery Masters re-emerged from the frozen wastes as a conqueror.

    POWERS

After he gained his incredible weather control powers, Lord Tempest found that he can transfer parts of his esscence to others. Thus he decided to seek out four people who would personify his powers and his needs.

Erica Winters was gifted with Air because of her cold personality and her knowledge of flight.

BusinessmanKurai Shuro was deemed the best vessel for the powers of Thunder and Lightning.

Occultist Preston Winnie IV was the perfect choice for the powers of Cloud, and Angela Blackwater

    becameDeluge, the Rain elemental.

Deluge,Sirrocco and Cloud must concentrate on transforming themselves into their elemental forms. This is perhaps their greatest weakness--if they could be surprised in their human form, they would be a lot easier to capture.

Lord Tempest can manefest all these abilities in some measure due to his intimate connection to the Storm Shard.

After gifting these four with power,Lord Tempest found that they could ,in turn gift these powers in daeth to another when Kurai Shiro died in a construction accident and his powers were transferred to a young architect. not listed on the character sheets is the fact that If Lord tempest or the Storm Shard is destroyed, all the members of Stormfront [and Thunder] becomes normals forevermore.

Here's the Phantom's Challenge: recreate Stormfront for the New Champions Universe from their original[4th ed stats that I will post on this board. Copy it and then use Hero designer to convert it to 5th ed stats with a revised story for the NCU.

  17. Misfits of Science

Let's see, we have a dude who shoots electricity,a babe who has TK,another dude who shrinks down to the size of a Barbie Doll and one who happens to be made of ice who has ice powers, all of whom is led by a dud who has no powers at all.

Yep, that describes Misfits of Science all right, except that in the first episode the ice guy died saving the team from drowning. As an option you can roll up superpowers for the leader and a nifty vehicle[loose the icecream truck please!}.Plus you can add some more mutants who are low powered making it a teen heroes campaign.

What say heroes? do you accept the Phantom's challenge?

    Plot Seeds for CHS

    Second Genesis:

the pcs are gathered to Millennium City's CHS facility for the first time from allover the state for a simple mission: The Guardians are mission during a routine paranormal search.

After some training mishaps and some rushed team training they finally came to the island where the originals were missing, after encoutering some hostile wildlife and animated nature the team has freed the originals from an ancient city only to find out that the whole island IS the paranormal------

and it's hungry! Can the PCs fight their way out?

    New Kids On Campus

Some of the PCs' classmates have found an ancient machine in an abandoned building in the city's ghetto. When one of them turns it on accidentally it instantly charges them with superpowered energies and clothes them in costumes of some of the golden age heroes of Med City. The PCs must help them adjust to the superlife before they would inadvertedly hurt themselves or the city.

Again, courtesy becomes more important in an armed society which is what a mutant high school is. Even an American school might develop something along the lines of a Japanese heirarchal structure of careful politeness and recognition of different levels of rank. A Japanese mutant high school (very likely given Hiroshima and Nagasaki) is definitely going to make it easy to tell who is stronger than who.

Actually there is a superhigh school campaign and it's being played at Yahoo groups. It's called Champions High School and it chronicles the adventures of Teen hero groups and their mentors in missions on or off campus. In addition to the usual travails of super life[secret ids and all] they'll have to deal with the baggage taht comes with teen age life. The teen heroes also have to deal with Peer pressure[being tempted to use thier powers for personal uses like party tricks],Cliques[one of the girl PCs is being selected by the popular girls to join them] ,School bullies[the high school jock's chosen one of the PCs as his patsy----and finds himself on the floor as a result], and dealing with school authorities[a PC is hauled in for detention and is let off when Grond attacks the detention room].
