Got some refs for you guys see if you can create some heroines from these refs. Got them from the DAZ catalog I've got in my Email at Yahoo. If you can create some new heroes for me from these refs I'll be very grateful.

    Good luck from the phantom

  2. Re: from little plot seeds, mighty games do grow

    Foxbat

When and Where? The heroes are either called to investigate a robbery or come upon one during their nightly patrols. They catch the "tail end" of Foxbat (and crew?) as they are stealing some leading edge technology. Foxbat gets away, laughing that the heroes won't foil in his MASTER PLAN, because once he connects these to the rest of the machine in his secret warehouse, his teleportation device will make him unstoppable.

The next night, the heroes go looking and find said secret warehouse. Inside is a large platform with a roof about 7-10 feet up. The heroes break in, Foxbat tells them they're too late and he yells for the teleportation device to be activated. One of the agents does so and in the next instant, poof! Everyone in the warehouse has been transported back in time.

Options: (all involving Foxbat to have the design manual tucked away with him)

    1. The transporter goes back in time, but no one knows how to set it forward. Not for several adventures, at least.

    2. The transporter does NOT go back in time, so the heroes and Foxbat must work together to build a new one, much to Foxbat's dismay.

    3. The transporter goes back in time, but when Foxbat goes to fix it, he makes it into an actual teleportation device, to the heroes' chagrin.

    4. The warehouse gets transported back in time as well.

    5. Once the transporter gets fixed, Foxbat tries to leave the PCs behind.

    6. Once the transporter is "fixed," everyone is transported back further in time.

    7. The teleportation device does work as well. The heroes & Foxbat (and crew) are not just transported back in time, but to another city, state, country or even continent.

    Time options:

    1. Early 1900's, around the Great War or WW2 era.

    2. Late 1800's during industrial revolution (Foxbat could make a fortune!)

    3. "Cowboy & Indian" days. Foxbat wants to relive these days, even though tv shows & movies weren't exactly accurate.

    4. Caveman days

    5. Dinosaur days

    6. Ice Age - the heroes & Foxbat (and crew) witness an alien ship crash. Some aliens escape the ship before it is buried by avalanche. Mmm, humans look tasty.

    7. Group teleported to Great Wall of China during a Hun or Mongol invasion.

    8. Group teleported to the Alamo.

    9. Group teleported to the Titanic moments before it hits an iceberg

    10. Group teleported somewhere appropriate to a PC's background (say French revolution for a French PC, or Napoleon's invasion of Russia for a Russian PC, etc.)

Of course, just because the time machine starts teleporting back to the future, doesn't mean they can make it there in one leap. :D

OH Brother! Well here's a plot idea starrin the Foxy one I call it--

    WHEN STRIKES THE DEATHFOX!

While Freddy Fosgood is in jail [no doubt put there by another of his master plans failing.],the pcs encounter another FOXBAT taking out a gang of hoods robbing the First national Bank of New Arkham, then snatching the money for himself when they show up. Three days later they encounter him again and try to stop him only to be beaten up by some swift kicks, boneblasting punches and some very lethal weponry that's unheard of from the original FoxBat. Worse when the PCS visit Fosgood in jail, they find him in the prison infirmary suffering from broken bones, internal bleeding and bruises given to him by an inmate who broke out of jail and disappeared at the same time this NEW FoxBat debuted.

Who is this New and deadly foxbat and how will the PCS defeat him considering he has[1] enhanced strength,[2]Ninja stealth skills and [3] a very deadly arsenal of weapons that may take out a whole platoon of superheroes much less an army of police?

    :)

  3. Re: Galactic Champions Books

Depends on how you define "near." Darren's going to write most of GAC, but it's not currently on the schedule. 2005 at the earliest, barring unforeseen changes.

We went through this in another thread recently -- no information will as yet be revealed, he said with a maniacal cackle. ;) All I'll reveal is: a few villains will get "carried forward," but most of the GC villains will be new.

I've set up a "Galactic Champions" Campaign that I called Champions Beyond but it fell by the wayside due to too little players and not much info for the future [in 4th ed],so i put it on Hiatus until i can get a copy of the GC sourcebook. I'd like to know: is the sourcebook compatible with 4th ed champions or is it for 5th ed only?

  4. Re: Champions Generations:Player Alert!!

My game's been put on the inactive list because of inactivity.

If you want to play the game, look for it in Lurkable Worlds under "Champions"

And please hurry before my games are yanked off the portals. :angst:

So anyone who's a champs guru please get into the campaign, there are some openings for you.

  5. Re: Ultimate CHS:Teen {or Preteen] Heroes and Villians wanted!

joined and posted the anti-hero ^^;; looking over the cast it looked like the group needed someone that came from the dark side. who knows maybe a hero will take him under and teach him to be a hero instead of scoundrel

    You may be right and that hero will be {TA TA TA TA TAAAAAAAA!!}

The Silver Guardian, protector of law and order and Detective extrodinaire!

    {SILVER AGENT from A

  6. Re: Ultimate Champions: How would you do it?

Agente X, I think you have some valid points.

but let me throw this at you. Just because a subject matter is tired, doesn't mean there isn't room for a new stab at it if it is good... regardless of genre. As always, it is in the doing.

The thread asked what *I*, *You* would do with a Champs comic book. I gave my answer... but not many others have. You haven't really offered up an idea, just been ripping apart mine.

I think what you said about those human moments is really cool. And if I was the writer/artist on such a book, that is precisely what I would be aiming for. I'm a huge "connect the dots" kinda guy. I like seeing how environment and events influence people. And that is why my subosition stressed those issues.

I'm also a big believer in the Joss Whedon school of genre writing... that precisely because it is genre, one can tackle issues in humorous, thoughtful, unusual ways. Not that Im up for making Witchcraft the subject of child abuse (thanks, lived that one up close and personal myself. Tack on the addiction issue too), nor make Sapphire an ex-druggie.... but doing a subplot where Kinetix is running himself ragged cause he likes the endorphin high? Tackling doping issues in sports through the metaphor of superpowers in sports? Why not?

I also subscribe to Joss's theory of "emotional realism"... where the world can get wacky as you want it, but as long as the characters react the way that seems in line with the way they are, the places they come from and he environment that they run in.... that will carry a lot of entertainment.

I'm not interested in "realism". Super powers are not realistic. But I am interested in teh emotional response to such a different world than our own.

Think about This guys and gals,

To create a Champions Universe in the Ultimate Vien, you'd have to reinvent the heroes and give them a fresh start from the beginning.

You have one of two choices to start fresh:

A} redo the universe with a fresh attitude and a dose of reality and established history.

or restart and reboot the characters for the 21st century,by removing some characters, intro them later into the campaign and put in some new ones,

preferably those created by the player.

It'll take some altering of the CU timeline, but if your players can participate in the process then go for it with barrells a blazin' just so as long as you make it your Champions universe.

  7. Re: from little plot seeds, mighty games do grow: Share you ideas!

    CHS PLOTS Starring-------

    Starblaze

    STARBLAZE GOES WILD!!

Due to some bouts with mental stress and pressures in school and at home,

the strain of being a perfect big sister causes Starblaze to lose her cool and her marbles as a genetic defect in her graymatter causes her to slowly go insane over the years. This madness caused her to transform her overprotectiveness into an obsession with keeping in the past and keeping her sister in her childhood.

But when Dreamstar decides to learn how to be a teenager, she decides to use a villian's hypnotic weapon to regress her back to the way she was before the accident[ for which she incorrectly feels responsible].

Unfourtunately the PCs and Dreamy noticed that the weapon, suposedly long drained of power was found with a full battery pack and a techno upgrade.

Confronting her one night, they caught her in a trap, only to be attacked by a very berserk Starblaze.

Now it's up to the PCs to stop her before she hurts herself and anyone else with her berserker rage.

But can they do it? Can they, even with the help of Dreamstar and her father,

stop someone who can channel the powers of the cosmos from going on a beserk rampage in MED CITY?

    TOUGH LOVE,HARD THERAPY :hex:

After thwarting Starblaze's rampage by subduing her , the PCs decide to examine her to determine what caused her to go insane. On exmination however the PCS were shocked to find drugs in her body,PCP,LSD Crack,Ecstacy and other junk drugs in her blood stream in amounts that would have killed a herd of elephants 20 times over. And yet her Q'rrymm powered metabolism had kept her from feeling the full effects of the overdose. Now the question remains, who did it to her and why? But another question in their minds is what wiil happen if she goes berserk and does something irresponsible like reveal her identity and worst still reveal theirs as well?

The only way to deal with her insanity is to start some hard theraphy with some Tough Love thrown in. But will it work or will it fail and the PCs wind up with a throroughly insane teamamte on thier hands?

    DATASWIPE :jupiter::hex:

    CYBERSNITCH!!

Somebody's leaking details of every available student in both the regular and

Special classes and is signing his name as Blackmail on the internet.

Every dirty and not so dirty secret of certain people is being leaked to the press and certain villian groups in other schools. Now this hacker is probing the CHS Mainframe for every dirty secret of the PCs including their secret identities! Desperste, they call on thier resident hacker buster DataSwipe,to outhack and zap the hacker before he gets in too deep and finds the secret of CHS. But can even Dataswipe, whose gift is the power of cyberpsi be able to track down someone who can dodge detection and is also good at covering his tracks?

    AI LOVE YOU!

An AI [Artificial Intelligence] Program in PRIMUS' defense system suddenly goes wacko thanks to some extra electricity from a thunderstorm and begins taking over all the weapons systems starting with the vehicles and mobile battle tanks. DataSwipe is called in and using a Viral spike program extracts the glitch, forcing it to go back to normal.

The glitch however follows john home where its insinuates itself into his computer, communicator and everything else that's electronic. It's also gained a part of the AI's sentinence and begins to [horror of horrors!!] fall in love with him and begins to eliminate its rivals, starting with his girlfriend Dreamstar.

Now DataSwipe has to find a way to pull the plug on this overamourous computer before someone[namely Dreamy] gets hurt as a result of its misguided jealousy. :angst:

    SEEDS OF REBELLION

The PCS notice the changed behavior of some of the more'troublesome' Students in the school. Some had begun behaving like good kids while others have gotten rowdier than usual. DataSwipe notices that they were logging into a website called the Greater Good which is the cause of the baffling behavior. Can the PCs find out the cause of this alteration before therowdies get even rowdier and incite a riot at the school? and can they find out who's behind this site? is it TELIOS? BLACK HARLEQUIN? VIPER or is it someone else entirely? :jupiter:

  8. Re: from little plot seeds, mighty games do grow: Share you ideas!

Following your dismantling of his post from a grammer/syntax point of view, I thought so. There was certainly enough information to run with. It wasn't necessary for him to post a campaign novel. I understand that you didn't have a malicious intent, but I'm letting you know it came across as harsh to my eyes.

Well, using your analogy, what I saw you do was shoot him before he got to the cliff and then explain why you felt you had to do it. I thought you could have come across in a much more helpful and less caustic manner.

But they're not all critiqued. I'd be willing to bet that fully 80% or more of the posts made to this list aren't critiqued. Of the ideas posted here, I'd say that percentage goes up above 90%. It wasn't necessary to dismantle his post AND his style.

It is indeed, since I judged your post to be worthless in terms of constructive criticism. I maintain you were overly harsh. [As an aside, I should give you rep for making me look up a word. How on earth did you know that word?]

So post a more complete version, as I did. Contribute, don't detract. He posted a good skeleton of an idea. Fill in the details yourself. That's the idea anyway. There was no need to call him to task for not coming up with every detail.

There are plenty of ideas on this list you've completely ignored that have missing details. Some simply end in a question and leave it up to the GM to decide what the deal is. I doubt you're any smarter or dumber than I am, so I'm sure you could've used his idea to come up with one of your own. It's better to use positive reinforcement and show how to better post an idea than it is to use negative reinforcement and show how NOT to. It's my believe you used the latter method.

I believe I was on target. I was less judgmental of you than you were of steriaca. I judged your post, though, and I found it wanting in terms of simple courtesy.

All I'm saying is that there are better ways to say what you said. Perhaps there was a better way to say what I wanted to say. There usually is. However, the point is that it seemed to me that you were so concerned with spelling and syntax that you neglected courtesy and empathy. That's all I was trying to say, and, oddly enough, that's pretty much what I said.

Feel free to continue this privately, if you wish. I see no reason to clutter up the boards further.

:bmk: YE GODS!!! What in the Name of Heaven are you Both busting his chops for? A few spelling mistakes!? At least he gave you guys a lot of good ideas,so what if he made a few mispelled words. Is it possible that the computers he was working with had no spell checkers or programs like

MS word? Then stop busting chops and let's get back to the plots.

Dreamstar POWERQUEEN &Power Princess are three of my characters created for my CHS campaign in yahoo groups

here's the background on each of them:

    DREAMSTAR

She's a Magic girl/Teen Mystic with magic powers and devices derived from the DReamzone. She sometimes uses magic sand to put her opponents to sleep, but uses a crystal scepter for spells and firing magic blasts.

    PowerQueen & PowerPrincess:

The WonderWoman and WonderGirl of the Champions Universe.

Super strentgh, speed, and flight powers. the current PowerPrincess is a member of the current Team Alpha. The Current PowerQueen received her powers from the First PowerQueen in the 1950's&60's.

  13. Re: Every good four color supers games needs:

A mutant/supers hating organization, giant hunter/killer robots optional

A mad/amoral genius that makes gimmick weapons (Ala The Toymaker)

A "greatest hero group in the world"

A "lone avenger of the night"

A Ancronym named organization of super villiany, ususally snake themed.

    A sorcercer supreme

    A source of ninja

    Any others?

    How about:

A team of Preteen[or kid] superheroes, trained by a veteran hero

A Team of outcast[preferably mutant] superheroes[or villians] on the run from the government

A race of Aliens who want to help the earth or conquer it.

An omnipotent being who has a weird fixation on Earth and it's inhabitants

A superhero from a dystopian future whos mission is to alter the past so that future will cease to exist [i know it's been done to death,so sue me]

A hidden Race of superhumans located in an out of the way spot[Hymalayas,Burmuda Triangle,]

A master Villian who plots the destruction of the Human Race.

    Anyone want to Add?

  14. Re: Science of Superheroes

I've also read about the Hulk and their explanation is totally short of ludicris. According to their thoeries there is only one way that a man can imitate the Hulks transformations and that is with steriods and something called GFP or something, never even once examining the effects of adrenilin .

to qoute directly from this chapter:'Gamma rays are like light a form of electromagnetic radiation. Gamma rays are emitted by radioactive substances like Cesium137,cobalt60 and Uranium235. along with alpha and beta rays, gamma rays are emttied when a nuclear explosion takes place."

"Hard radiation doesn't transform living cells.Nor does it cause certain glands to overreact and mutate human bodies. Hard radiation in large doses does one thing and it does that well: it kills. The Hulk just doesn't make sense according to his origin story. Niether do the Fantastic 4. Marvel's earliest heroes just are'nt possible and they never were."

according to this the only way Bruce Banner can hulk out would to take a 'super steroid' and a chemical call GFP. Any ideas on what a character that would create? or the dangers of what drug use can do?

Opinions every one[read Chapter three]

  15. Re: TUV accessories: Onstar

Basically an OnStar-like service would be a two-way radio' date=' GPS locator, a few Programs for the Vehicle's onboard computer, and the OnStar service itself bought as a Contact. Things such as access to databases, telemetry, contacting police or other authorities, vehicle diagnostics, and similar functions would be a part of the Contact's "very useful Skills or resources."[/quote']

There's Also the matter of secret identities. remember, OnStar has to have client confidentiality and that means you'll have to reveal your secret id or purchase the service in your hero id. either way some bad guy will hack into the service computer to get info at your id.

  16. Re: Science of Superheroes

Better yet Try the latest Wild Cards novel,Dueces Wild It may bring some light to the Wild Cards world sinces the events of the Black Trump trilogy.

Have You also read the Science of Superman yet? If not check it out and compare it with the previous book.

  17. Re: What super hero concepts would you like to see more of?

The opposite of the "What super hero concepts are you tired of" debate. Which ones would you like to see more of? either in comics, or (More relevantly for this board I guess) in your games?

I can't really complain too much in the game department, my players are pretty versitile. I do notice a strong bias against the 'ugly hero' ala the Thing etc. if one appears, they'll try to cure it fast even if the campaign doesn't have the resources to do so. They're just not big on it in NPCs, and they never play them as PCs.

It's not a big thing, just about the only one I can think of.

How about some Femlike mystery characters or some cutesy anime type supers like those from the anime Magic Knights Rayearth? That would be Ultimate to the max!

  18. How about Preteen Champions?

Ptreteen Champions or How to deal with superpowered Kids!

Think being a teen super is bad enough, try dealing with life as a kid who just manefested superpowers and have'nt a single clue on how to control them. sure his origins may be varied such as:

    given powers by a dying alien[POWER PACK}

Being Part of a Mutant Family[Clan Destine: Marvel,A Distant Soil]

    Ingesting Strange Chemicals[speedball]

Finding an Alien device with strange abilities[slapstick]

    Genetic Experiment{the Eternals,Inhumans[Marvel] DC's Milestone line]

    Super heroic legacies[up,Up,And Away,Disney]

The thing is: a kid has enough problems such as getting ready for school, getting his homework done and dealing with the school bully. The last thing he needs is to manefest powers right off the bat.
