  1. Re: "Look, up in the sky! It's Super Saint!" Christian-themed heroes

As to "maturity" issues, meh. Religious themed Supers are part of the Comic Book Supers genre, and Religion is likely going to be part of a Supers life as per the demographics of the population. I wouldn't run or play in a Bible studies course disguised as a Supers campaign, but I'd be slightly annoyed if there weren't a fair number of religious supers out there, some of them devout.

As to "Is there a G_d in your campaign", the answer is yes, and his nature and true face remain a mystery. My real world beliefs have little to do with that choice; it's how I decided I wanted my campaign world to work, based on my prefered source material.

Instead of Christian Saints[which were human and only cannonized by the Catholic Church]Why not create heroes out of Angels?

    By angels I meant :

    Archangels: Gabriel,Micheal

Cherubium: Diplomatic angels or guardian angels

    Seraphium:Warrior angels.Soldiers of the LORD:dyn

I've begun the process of reformatting this thread to make it easier to read.

I hope you've reformatted Dreamy's CS while your'e at it.

In fact why not have your PC register in CHS?

My game is still on in HeroCentral[via Champions High: Unlimited]

Log in and check it out why don't you?:dyn :dyn

  4. Re: What Champions Books Would You Like Published in the Future?

Just to be anal and pedantic here' date=' but the New Mutants were never preadolescent. They were all 13-16 at the beginning of the series (and then aged on Marvel time admittedly). Teen Champions already covers that series.[/quote']

So sue me for the Typo,'Kay?

HEADQUARTERS AND HARDWARE covers the How tos on Vehicle,Gadget and HQ design not covered in Gadgets and gear.

  5. Re: What Champions Books Would You Like Published in the Future?

Here's a few from the Phantom:

CHAMPIONS:BLOODLINES The Blood from the classicThe Blood and Dr.McQuark which details not just the Blood family of Azor and the dimensional world of Ean,but also other Blood families on and off earth, called the Starblood who may or maynot have a connection with some of the heroes of earth.[if you're wondering where i got this from,Iwas inspired by Battlestar Galactica(the original version, not the current).]They might include some ready made heroes and villians.

    CPS299[Champions Public School]

Inspired by PS238,Champions Roleplaying in the style of POWER PACK and the NEW MUTANTS[original] players become preadolescent superheroes fighting Kid Villians while training in a special facility for paranormal children.

Not only do PCs must battle kid and adult villians, but also must deal with the problems an craziness that go with being a kid.

    Cities of HEROES: Bay City

details Bay city California in all its heroic glorywith heroes and villians and includes the Famous Arcadian academy.

Cities of Heroes: San Angelos,Metroplolis of the Capes

Cities of Heroes:New Arkham, city of Mystery

    Cities Of Champions:The Carolina Triangle

what can I say three cities three seting for Champions.

  6. Re: Sanctuary?

You're not the only one with a copy of Classic Organizations.

I just wish that we could resseruct the older orgs from the source books

  7. Re: Superhero Images

I always wanted to do a "Cover" for each game session. Realized when my game started that I would just never have time. Anyway, I was home, trying to keep my mind off work today and came up with this.

Some of it is good, some isn't.

    COOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLL!!!!!!!

    ME Likeeee!

Seriously, wish you could do a cover for my campaigns, they need some promos to get some serious PCs into the campaign.

  8. Re: Anime Champions?

I'm sorry, but I'm a purist when it comes to my magical girl shows. The main reason I haven't seen any Tokyo Mew mew is that it is not available here in its original form. American Sailor Moon, Cardcaprots, and whatever they are going to do to Ojamaho Doremi tend to get my goat faster than any other topic you can mention, even though I have no objection to dubs that do not do substantial aletrations in setting, location, theme or content.

Idol/actress is a popular cover for magical girls, actually. In the new live-action Pretty Guaridan Sailor Moon, Minako-chan actually is a superstar idol (a status she only aspires to in the anime) in addition to being the mysterious superheroine Sailor V. Apparently something really bad happens to her near the end of the series, but I haven't seen that far.

Watching a live-action Sailor Moon with a blonde wig on the heroine form only and Power Rangers-level visual effects can be very odd. But in a sense it reutrns the franchise to its roots, as Naoko Takeuchi was actually attempting to combine the sensisbilties of the magical girl series previous with those of sentai. So PGSM is a throwback, somewhat updated to 2004, to what she originally had in mind.

Saw the clips not the whole series.

BTW as for Ojamaho Doremi,it's being imported as Magical Doremiwhich will premere this fall in 4Kids TV.

  9. Re: Anime Champions?

This is a common character type in anime. Her name is Mirai' date=' and she bears certain resenmblance to such seemingly-less-than-competent heroines as Usagi Tsukino and Miaka Yuuki ([i']Fushigi Yuugi[/i]).

As for the Moldiver "suit", it came about because Miaka's mad scientist brother really wanted to be a Western-style superhero. In this case, though, his wish-fulfillment fantasy got way out of hand. My understanding t=is that the OVA series that was released here was based on a much longer TV series that has never been screened in the US.

Moldiver also has one other thing that is common to heroic anime -- a tragic romance between Mirai and a candidate astronaut who, if he achieves his goals, will not be returning to Earth for some twenty years.

You may put in the MEW MEW team as magical girls as well

Known in Japan asTokyo MEW MEW Five girls were chosen and imbued with powers from endangered animals in order to fight a band of pollution bred aliens called the Cyniclon who want to take over earth via alien infused monsters or Yoma, called predesites.

    the Girls are:

Zoey who has the abilities of the African Wildcat

Corrina, a rich girl who has the abilities of an endangered bird.

Bridget:brainy student with the abilities of the Blue dolphin

Kiki:acrobat with the powers of the Lion Monkey

    and last but not least

Renee`: Movie star/Model with the abilities of the timberwolf.

All five girls work at Cafe` Mew Mew under the gaze of Eliot and Wesley thier boss and coordinator.

There's also a series being imported called MAGICAL DOREMI it's about three little girls who train to become witches by using magic wands and spell drops and getting assisted by fairies.

Spaeking of magic girls here's a CS of my magic Girl DreamStar.

    it's in HDC BTW.;)

  10. Re: Anime Champions?

QUOTE=Major Tom]Another possible choice for an Anime Champions campaign would be Moldiver.

This anime mini-series is only slightly less insane than Project A-Ko, but

is similar in that the main character is a girl. The major difference is that while

A-Ko's powers are natural, the heroine in Moldiver (I can't remember what

her name is) relies on an energy exosuit for her powers -- which, when it runs

out of power, leaves her somewhat starkers. She's also somewhat of a ditz

(If Japan has an equivalent to America's "Valley Girl", she'd qualify hands

    down).

    Major Tom

    Touche`Du, Touche`

Another example of a super team[if you can call them that] are the

Mew Mews from Cafe Mew Mew,or Mew Mew Power as it's called in the states.

You have five girls inbred with powers from endangered animals fighting some sleazeballs from outer space who want to destroy the Human race.

Did I forget to mention the mighty Muscle League from Ultimate Muscle?

  11. Re: Teen Champion Cover!

QUOTE=Polaris]I am really looking forward to getting this book... it reminds me of the first Champions game I played in (it was set in a school setting).

I was not fond of the hero on the cover, in particular the hat (Dr. Seus), but the chalkboard writing idea was *great*!!

The back cover is a bit cut off, but I gather it says that someone 'looks like grond'... very funny! :):)

    Overall, very good...:)

    Polaris

That May be true and I'm thinking of buying that book for my Teen Campaign

that I'm running on Hero Central and Yahoo groups.

Anyone interested ? go to http://www.herocentral.net and look for Ultimate Champions High and Champions High: Unlimited

  12. Re: Anime Champions?

Yeah' date=' I did all that and run Surbrook's Stuff as well.

"Anime and the Hero System" is about 17,000 words on anime conventions and such, with some HERO comments and two sample characters -- a mecha pilot and a magical girl (what did people think of that, BTW? I never saw any feedback.).

Ninja Hero discusses anime and video game martial arts and includes the following sample anime NPCs: Tsukikiage the ninja (who clocks in at around 500 pts of shadow-magic whoopass), John Wa the Monkey King (my play on the original Songoku the Monkey King), and Kayli the Destroyer, who's a pastiche/homage to a certain well-known manga/anime series featuring super-powerful martial artists.

Kazei 5 is my never-ending project. It combines a lot of 80s anime influences into a near-future "old-school" cyberpunk world. If you liked Appleseed, Bubblegum Crisis, Akira, Ghost In The Shell, Silent Mobius, and Battle Angel odds are you'll like this.

OK robots ,cyborgs and Martial artists[if you count the DragonBall Z and GT Characters] May be all good and that, but what about roleplaying Magic Girls[sailor Moon,Rayearth],Monster trainers[Pokemon,Digimon,Monster Rancher],

Space Warriors{Yamato],Sentai Teams,[ Power Rangers] and Fantasy Fighters[Lodoss,Slayers,Inu-Yasha]

Not to mention Pop Music Idols[Mink,Pop Chance Session] and Sports.

    Any more inputs besides mine?

  13. Re: A different kind of super mage

    Go ahead.

Solara is not an avatar of Amaterasu. People in ancient Japanese thought she was because her powers were like those of the sun. She's simply a mage that gets her END from the solar wind, a stream of charged particals (i.e. a plasma) whivh are ejected from the upper atmosphere of a star. When originating from stars other than the Earth's Sun, it is sometimes called a stellar wind.

Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_wind for more information.

    OK here we go:

    Dreamsceptre

the scpetre of dreams is nikkis]'s focus for her powers it transforms into a sword at her transformation.

Background: Nikki Davison is the Daughter of Mike Davison and the alien Princess Oyuki. At a very young age[2 yrs to be exact] her powers manefested in the magical ability to create objects and creatures from her imagination. At age 4 she began creating wishing 'balls' ,magical spheres that will grant a child's wish or desire.

At age 5 her promising life nearly came to a tragic end when the IHA attacked her friend's house while she was attending a birthday party.

While her father battled the IHA agents and tried to drived them out of the house, Nikki pushed one of her friends out of the way of a stray energy beam which hit her and sent her body crashing into the house's wall causing a concussion and placing her into a coma which lasted almost five years.

During the coma Witchcraft and her father used their collective energy to speed up the healing process and help her recover. But it took another super battle to wake up Nikki when ARGENT and VIPER both launched a simultanious attack on the hospital where she was staying, the oupouring of energy jumpstarted her recovery and caused her magic powers to manifest fully clothing her in a SM fuku with high heeled boots. Awakened she helped her father defeat both villian groups sebding them into the arms of PRIMUS.

She was then taken to Dr Monica Avery,a paranormal doctor in Atlanta ,who put her through some tests to determine her powers which included magic energy attacks, flight and Teleportation, all of which [they found to thier astonshiment stem from the DREAMZONE. After a mentoring session which took one year and after a two years in junior high, she entered CHS under the Code name DREAMSTAR.

I'm including a magical Girl Template for your to create your PC with Good luck

and send you some more later.]

  14. Re: Champs Worldwide: Whaddya want?

    I'll second that notion.

Also, since the former Soviet Union is a kleptocracy now, I'd like to see either a 'hero' with questionable morals, or a villain that was once a hero under the communist regime, that figured out that crime pays better than working for the state.

In that case how about revising Red Doom and the Supreme Soviets for the 5th ed CU? You'll have to create a new Tokamak, and include Ringer from the Villiany Unbound source book.

but don't forget to include teen, preteen and kid heroes in the book as well,it might be very interesting fo the PCs to interact with a teen hero team from Russia,Poland,or any former sov-Bloc Nation.

  15. Re: Superhero Images

Hi all. Im going to try to post a pic or two. Im a semi-professional artist; my roomate and I drew all the cardboard figures for the "Stand-Ins" line available at RPGnow.com. (We did alot of the coloring too, but the editors wife did some also).

Anyway, for a long time now weve used what we call "Heroforms"; blank figures that I drew a while back, just to give a good idea of the overall costume. Im going to try to post the costume for Revenant. Hes our current campaigns "dark brooding avenger of the night" type. Hope you all like him :)

Cool,Can you do some PC pics for me? It's been a while and I've haven't heard from Starlord and I need some pics for my teen hero campaign. :help:

  16. Re: Superhero Images

Thanks, folks! I appreciate it. Yes, the characters and their costume designs were mine with the exception of Animus/Anima. I really had no clue how they should look other than the point that they "share" clothing so it should be neither to feminine nor too masculine. I think Ian did a pretty good job coming up with what she's wearing.

Their stats are not a family secret and I'd be happy to show them to you.. if they existed. Generally, I'll come up with character concepts to flesh out the world so the PC's don't feel like they're living in a void. But I usually don't stat the background characters until I need them to be. That way I retain a certain amount of flexibility. The only one of the Immortals group that's been done is my own character Vanguard. And I believe its still a work in progress. However, I'll attach it.

There are a lot of homage type characters and groups in my world. I figure if they work in the real comics, why not translate them into the game campaign. Besides, its extremely difficult to have a truly unique concept anymore.

With the Immortals, I knew I wanted them to be "the Avengers of my world." So i built them with that in mind. The thing is, I had already created my world's primary villain team Novus Ordum. And I had constructed Novus Ordum with the idea of antithetical Avenger concepts. I didnt want to repeat the character ideas (although I ended up having to with Captain America). At the same time I had a sense of needed cohesion. Novus Ordum were "evil" versions of the Avengers between issues 4 and 15 (Cap, Thor, Iron Man, Henry Pym, and Wasp).

I already knew I wanted Vanguard (Captain America), Lady Hex (Scarlet Witch), and Apollo (Vision) on the team. So with that in mind, I did some research. I needed to find the Avengers team instances where Cap, Witch, and Vision were on the team, but where Thor, Iron Man, Wasp, and Henry Pym were not on the team. There's a grand total of three consecutive issues throughout the entire (original) Avengers series: 252, 253, and 254. The other Avengers that made the team then were Hercules, Starfox, and Captain Marvel. And that's when I created Victor, Anima/Animus, and Aurora. With Aurora it worked out nicely that I could save Half-Life from a horrible fate with just a couple minor changes.

Captain America was easy. I had Cap in mind when I originally created the character 12 years ago for a campaign a friend of mine ran. Making Lady Hex out of Scarlet Witch was also pretty easy. Apollo came together almost by accident but fit well as the Vision concept. There are many parallels between him and Vision.

Victor from Hercules wasn't too bad. I focused on the Herculean myths of the 12 tasks he had to do. In Victor's case, its a 12-point code he refers to as "the Trials" that gives him his strength. Turning Captain Marvel into Aurora was easy. Cap M's powers are all light based. Aurora is a being of light-based energy. Starfox was the hardest one. I didn't want to just copy him. That would defeat the purpose. So I looked at him objectively and came up with the idea that he's really two different people. He's got the emotion control powers, but, like all of his people, he's basically a brick as well. So I settled on the two-character concept.

Is this standard for you other GM's, or did I just find myself with too much time?

    :)

    RL

No it's notr a standard for some of us Although I can't Say for the other GMs.

BTW can I IM you a question for some PC pics for my Campaign world?
