Dr. Anomaly got a reaction from Egyptoid in Longest Running Thread EVER
Re: Longest Running Thread EVER
Matter of personal taste and all that, plus a limited supply of rep to go around. Though I do try and keep a "rep list" of things I see I want to rep when I'm already out of the day's alotment, sometimes I forget.
Nothing personal; I'm sure I'll hit you sooner or later.

From The Smiths' "How Soon Is Now?" -- you shouldn't have picked their best-known song.

I have a Coolness license? I thought that as a card-carrying geek, dweeb, dork, and computer programmer, I was forbidden to have one!
Why does no one ever tell me these things?!?

Really? Just 19 posts prior to yours (6739) is a long time?
Well, I guess I better get on the ball then and post some...

Oh, it's possible we'll catch up to it; we used to be more than 2k posts being it. It will just take some work and dedication is all!
(And disabling the other thread wouldn't be fair, now would it? It's not a "victory" if you don't earn it!)

Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group...
Some quotes from Saturday's "7th Sea" game...
"'Platypus' - Ussuran for 'Matushka didn't know what the hell it was either...'"
GM: "There's now about 40 of them, 10 of you."
Gustaphe to Connor: "I say we let them send for reinforcements."
Alexei: "So we're facing nearly impossible odds, and we have no concept of a plan..."
Inigo: "Sounds like our usual job description."
Jim (Gustaphe's player): "What do you mean, the garrison commander didn't have the cell keys on him?! How am I supposed to get the chains off this guy?!"
Gabrielle (who is already out of the city and helped in the earlier jail break): *twirling keys around on her finger*: "So I wonder what the other keys on this chain are for?"
Repeated statement by various Montaigne: "No... El Vago can NOT be in Ussura..."
(He is.)

Cats are like potato chips. You can't have just one.
And they're somehow addictive, too. I keep swinging by the cat adoption station in Petsmart and semi-joking about adopting the 2 black cats they have there - so we can have an army of black cats to swarm all our houseguests.
Thank goodness Josh is levelheaded when it comes to felines.

Just put me in a "reminder" in your sig (like I and some others do). I'd be glad to "take a rain check" on more rep, DT!

I've just uploaded over 1,000 pics to my website. Here are some samples (ones that are board safe); to see more of these pretty ladies -- and others for whom I have no board-safe pics -- just visit my website.
And if you post to this thread to make it longer, I'll link in some more "sample" pics.

But it's COOL, like Phat! See, that makes it a good thing (similarly, phaqing would be good as well).
So be phooled! (I don't even know what I'm saying, so pay no mind...)

Nothing so rigid as a formula. It's sort of a "feel" thing...do I "feel" like doing it now, do I "feel" like there have been enough posts lengthening the thread, that sort of thing. Basically I'm trying for a "gentle incentive" to get people to help drive this thread to the #1 spot.
Of course, asking nicely sometimes works, too.

Someone posted recently about a problem with the "rep system" being that posting "T&A" pics garnered a lot of rep. Now, while I'd never turn down rep for posting "those kinds" of pics, I'd just like to assure people that out of my 50 most recent reps (all I can check), 6 of them (12%) were for "those" kind of pics.
What's that got to do with the price of tea in China? Well, I seem to recall saying I'd post some more of "those kinds" of pics in this thread if we got more posts to it. Well, we got another batch (though that's no reason to get complacent!! ) so I'm going to post a few more pics here.
Feel free to give weight to the notion of a "broken" rep system by repping me for them if you feel you must.
Oh, one more thing...rest assured there's more where these came from!

Re: The cranky thread
Here's the secret to writing a book, CF... start one page at a time. I'm not kidding.
I'll use me as an example (have other friends who are authors, and not just Skaramine, and they'd agree with this example). My book started with a dream (real honest to God sleeping at night dream).
I fell asleep listening to music, as I sometimes do. (The song in question, by the way, is "Nail's Gift" from Dragonball Z, a beautiful piece of music). And in my sleep, I had a dream about Goku and a woman standing side by side at the edge of Kami's Lookout, which is a castle way way WAY up in the clouds high above the earth.
I thought, "What a great idea for a painting." Woke up enough to jot down what I'd seen in my head, then went back to sleep.
Next day, I looked at my notes and started doodling, and then I thought to myself, "I wonder if there's a story in this..." Namely, who the woman was I had dreamed about standing there with Goku. Then bit by bit, I kept adding to it.
One page became a twelve page short story.
Then I wanted to see what happened before and after that short story, so I kept going.
At last count now, a little over a year later, that one page of notes has been expanded into 310 8.5x11 pages. It's like the damned thing wrote itself.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step and a cash advance. Don't worry yet about where you're going. Just get going.
