  1. Re: Villains, Vandals, and Vermin: Who should be in it?

Anyways...villians who I would LOVE to see, but will proably NOT...

    1) Power Crusher.

    2) Foxbat's Flunkies (especaly The Exo-Skelition Man and Harmous Fist).

    3) Powerhouse (new version, basicly the same with a Kelvnite orgin).

    4) Mongoose (now as a half-human, snake hateing ex-VIPER agent).

    5) Zodac (The group...this group was The Bomb...and deserves to be recreated).

    6) Yoosho (Again, another BOMB group...I also vote for the return of Zen Team...Mike, are you listening?)

    7) Zen Scorpion (We have to have a 'Char' charater...the 'good' bad guy...the bad guy with style)

    8) Mind Lock (A mid-tear mentlist/sneek thieth)

    9) Terror Incorprater (reborn from the grave)

Well, that is it for now.

  2. Re: Villains, Vandals, and Vermin: Who should be in it?

Am I the only one hankering for the Andromeda Connection?:angst:

You proably ARE the only one. Which means eveyone should just wait for the Galactic Champions Enimies Book (How's this for a name: The Galaxy's Most Wanted).

In that book, I would like to see the AG villians, plus villians from other parts of the galaxy. And some from the old Aliean Enimies book.

Great question...could Mr. Surbrook do a writeup of Chiller for the Galaxy's Most Wanted? Shure, he is proably going to be a 'Frezah' clone, but her old emploie was a clone of Raditz.

  3. Re: The Harbinger of Justice Thread

Of course, if the changes lead to fifty "The Harbinger of Justice is/is not a normal" threads, we'll all be sorry... ;)

Acualy, in the original DC, he was NOT a typical example of a Dark Champions vigalantie. I mean, he WAS designed to fit into a world where people shot energy beams from there eyes. Of course, he repersented a part of the world where veary few people could do that, let alone wanted to...

What I want to know, thoe, is 'can I fit Dark Champions into the Champions seating without to much of a problem'. I mean, if Marvel can have The Punisher, Dairdevil, Spider-Man, and The Human Torch, why can't the Champions universe? (I'm shure Steve WILL give us SOME guidelines for crosovers...somewhere (if not in DC, then in Hudson City)).

  4. Re: Japanese mastervillain/hero team aid requested.

Tesushogun: The leader, who wears a power suite which alowes him to teleport, and monomolecular dashio (katana and wakusahi).

Would it be a cooler name if I would name him Tesudamioh instead of Tesushogun? I just remember that a japanies hero is using the name Tesushogun in the CU.

  5. Re: Japanese mastervillain/hero team aid requested.

Having someone who is the "Shogun of Crime" or the "Shadow Shogun" would have some nice historical references. Or someone who seeks to restore the old order of the Shogun having absolute power in Japan and restoring the Samurai class' date=' purging western influences and so on. They would be more of the mastermind types, high INT and a lot of followers, though not necessarily powerful in themselves.[/quote']

That reminds me...my 'only in my mind and I hope to eventuly publish it for Hero befor someone beats me to it' version of Yooshoo basicly is a supervilian arm of a group of japanies patirots (terorists?) who view that Japanies culter has gone downhill with the introduction of western infulences. So, thay plan on destroying any company which does work in the west, and eventuly drive the westerners out of Japan, and to reinstate the Shogun (with there leader, Tesushogun, as the shogun).

    The members...

Tesushogun: The leader, who wears a power suite which alowes him to teleport, and monomolecular dashio (katana and wakusahi).

Hi No Ran: "Wild Fire", a mutant with the ability to generate fire. Also a karatka.

Oni No Muzu: "Water Oni", a ninja with a near mystical control over water.

Fuji: The brick of the team, another mutant.

Sakura: A teenage girl who was subjected to expermentation by Thorn, is now partly plant. Can use her tendrel 'hair' to fight with. Name means "Cherry Blosom".

  6. Re: Superhero Images

I've been playing around with the COIL in my free time and I thought about bringing back Mongoose from the old books to serve as a vigilante hunting them down :) This is the sketch I came up with ...

    attachment.php?attachmentid=6037

Defently Mongoose. Give him some fangs, and he might look like the ideal I thought about to revive him into CHampions 5th Ed. (Basicly, a VIPER agent with extensal martial arts training, injected with an expermental serum filled with Mongoose DNA (and some other stuff...mutate till taist), then developed to find and eliminate COIL Influtators in VIPER...expect he gained the Mongoose's dislike for anything snake-like and excaped VIPER. He now hunts down BOTH groups while also being hunted down by both groups.)

Well, that is my story, and I am sticking with it.

  7. Re: Dark Champions

Something I would like to see is a discusion on deathtraps. While many Champions charaters should just yawn when we talk about such stuff (I mean, should a bonafied super worrie about being tied to the train tracks?), Dark Champions charaters, being mostly normals, acualy SHOULD be worried about things like being tied to the train tracks. And, yes, Dark Champions villians offen DO use deathtraps (well, the Master Villians do...the henchmen who only exist to fill bodybags are the exception).

Besides, that gives Steve an excuse to comition an artest to do some sort of 'high drama' sceen with a bomb or such. (And if you think defusing a bomb is tougth, imagion trying to defus one which is bound to the hero's sinificent other).

  8. Re: Dark Champions

All in good time. ;) I have big plans for Hudson City' date=' and I can't wait to start on that particular book. When I'm done, it's gonna be one helluva cool city for modern-day gaming. Sure, it'll be a little sick and twisted in places, but that's whatcha get when you let me write it. :eg:[/quote']

I have an ideal for a nite club for Hudson City. I call it Penny Dreadfull's. By day it is a restraunt who's theam is old silent movie serials (the watresses dress in Giibson Girl type skirts and blouses, the bartender wears all black, a top hat, and a handlebar mushtash, the bouncers dress like mounties, ect...). By nite, it is a rocking danceclub. And, some say there is a secret bacement where people go in, but never go out.

  9. Re: Round One: FIGHT! (Book Ideal...Need Help!)

I hate to burst your bubble' date=' but based on conversations I've had with Steve Long about just such a thing, HERO will not be publishing any sort of Ninja Enemies book (which is why those three martial artists ended up in DH 20).[/quote']

It is a darn shame. I know Steve Long is the boss, but to just nix the ideal wholesail like that on a grand fiat of "I don't like it".

Of course, he MIGHT be saveing the ideal of The Martial World for himself...

  10. Re: Round One: FIGHT! (Book Ideal...Need Help!)

I guess I AM looking for something Steve would improve on. So, prehaps I should do "The Martial World" instead. And, if I am lthe book would get split into two and become "The Martial World" and "Martial Mayham" (or somthing similer for the enimies book).

Who would you sergest I resque from orphionhood? I personaly would like to save that guy from Enimies: The Intronatinal File, an assasion with a heart of gold who's main attack is to stich his arm through people's hearts. Him and his parter in crime, Kawai (who should, by now, know some combat art).

    Others to save(?):

    Powerhouse.

    Any others?

  11. Re: Round One: FIGHT! (Book Ideal...Need Help!)

LIke Sketchpad said' date=' as far as a martial arts rules supplement TUMA pretty much covers ninety percent of what you're talking about. OTOH I think a [i']Ninja Hero[/i] enemies book would be extremely cool. A video game subgenre/sourcebook might be cool too.

Your right about TUMA and NH. I am stuck with doing eather a true Ninja Hero enemies book, or a Chapions Enimies book with the conecting thing being Martial Arts. What do you think? Should I do both? (Round One: Fight! being the Ninja Hero one, while Martial Enimies being the Champions one?) And who in the history of Champions should I bring back in the Champions EB.

  12. Re: Beyond Sharper Than A Serpent's Tooth

I've used #4 back in the "BBB Era" ... using the character Mongoose as Coil's natural nemesis. I've also played with the membership' date=' bringing back some of the old characters and redesigning a few from STAST ...[/quote']

The ideal is, of course, finding a place for the orphion villians Mongoose, Snake, and Black Mamba. Excapt I have found no logical way to recreate Black Mamba at all.

As for Boa Constrictor, Diamondback, and Sidewinder being killed in a VIPER shakedown, well, I doubt that Mr. Long would create them just to have them killed in such a shakedown. So you can assume one of three things...

    1) That, after a compleet rundown, thay have been demed loyal to VIPER enougth to keep on liveing working. So thay are.

    2) Getting wind of the shakedown, thay excape before it begins, and now are eather solo operators, or a three man team for hire.

    3) That thay goten wind of this via a COIL influtrator, and were lead into King Cobra's embrace. Not only are thay now loyal to King Cobra, but have mutated slightly yet again, to a more snake-like forme.

It is safe to asume that Ripper is imune to all this scrutinie, because he is a product of a joint project between Dr. Blank and Dr. Moreau.

Which makes me want to ask, how would YOU introduce a new Black Mamba into the game?

    Steriaca.

  13. Hear is what I thought would happen next in the Champions Universe after the events in Sharper Than...

    1) The Big Viper Purge: Basicly, VIPER will purge there Dragon Branch of all supers which have been created by Dr. Blank. This will lead to a massicor of dead serpent themed supervillians, with the survivors eather joining up with COIL, or surviving on there own.

    2) Big Things For Moreau: With Blank gone from The Fix, Dr. Moreau takes over as lead scientist.

    3) Revenge, And Science Also: Wanting to find a cure for there agents from King Cobra's touch, VIPER kidnaps the doctor's only son. Dr. Moreau (with some help from Teleios) tries to recreate the potion which King Cobra used to create himself, and tests it on him. Then, thay plan to find something which would reverse the prosses in the most painful way posable. But thay underestimate the teen's abilities under the change, and he excapes. Amnisac, he wanders the streets, calling himself 'Snake'.

    4) Revenge, Part Two, Sending A Mongoos Into A Cobra's Den: Dr. Moreau searches VIPER for a capeabul martial artest. Injecting him with mongoos DNA, he hopes to create a fighter who can naturly sniff out a COIL Influtrator and kill him. While a susess, the treatment makes the subject loath snakes, even VIPER. He quits them...but as thay say, the only way to quit is to die.

    Your thoughts?

  14. I want to create a "Ninja Hero Sourse Book" called "Round One: Fight!" (rougth name...may change it later to something cooler). Hear is what I have planed so far...

Introduction. (The normal stuff, you know...what is inside)

Chapter One: This is where the new rules stuff is in. And martial arts stuff.

    Part a: New manuvers list.

Part b: New, optinal manuvers, and buying them using UMA as help (like my Fent manuver in Secrets Of The Samuri, for Digital Hero). I need more than 'martal fent' thoe, to justfie this section. Prehaps a new v manuver? (+d/10" for -1 points?)

Part c: New Realistic Styles (Like Hojojustu, and others).

Part d: New Fantastic Styles. (Like Video Game Martial Arts, Mental Combat, and Energy Blaster Combat Art, amoung others).

Part e: 'Silly' Styles. (Like Stooge Fu, and Bakajustu).

Chapter 2: Campaing Looks (this is where we go 'campaing')

Part a: Samuri (a look at the samuri, just as UMA looked at the ninja).

Part b: Big Time Wrastling (includes advance pro-wrestling manuvers).

Part c: To Fight The Shadow Boss (a look on video game fighting, including both one on one and side scroling games translated into a typical campain)

    Chapter 3: New Weapions.

Part a: New weapions rules (like "Points VS No Points")

Part b: New weapions (like the Sabako)

Chapter 4: The Shadow Boss And His Minions. (A villian group for heros to fight).

Basicly, I want to ask what you think of the outline, what real world martial arts would you like to see, ect...

  15. Re: Why does Nighthawk always get depicted getting the crap kicked out of him?

You're a great artist but it's going to be hard to convince us that Nighthawk could beat up the "staples" in CKC. It's not the head gear being cool or not for me. It's the inappropriateness of the head gear for a "street level" hero. I fully expect him to knock himself off his feet chasing the bad guys inside tenements as his headgear catches the top of the doorway.

The guy is a Champion. NightHawk is not, I repeat NOT, a Street Level superhero. Yes, he IS supose to repersent the 'street level Batman guy', but let's face it, his design WAS based on Gatchman (basicly take G2 Joe The Condor and Batman, and put him into a cosmic blender, just like The Powerpuff Girls are Sailor Moon and Supergirl placed through the same blender). And Gatchman is not a street level hero team. Thay destroyed mecha for gash sakes!

Which reminds me...I am going to have to do my version of Galactor one of theas days (the infamous Talon group, 'lead' by Malakore and Xanosynn, with there gane of genetly created goons, giant mecha, and brainwashed scientist).

  16. Re: Super Powers in Hudson City

    Here's my theory:

The supervillains stay away because the Hamdinger of Justice is likely to shoot them in the head instead of just putting them in jail.

The superheroes go where the supervillains are. Otherwise they get bored. Er, I mean, otherwise nobody will be there to stop the supervillains.

So they both leave Hudson for the 'street level' guys.

    J

Nice theroy. Now hear is MINE (Disclamer Alert: This is my madness. It will not nesasary reflect your madness.)

Basicly, there ARE supers in Hudson City, but not in the way you THINK thay are. There is always going to be a mutant or two in anything but the smalest hick town. It is just that most mutants eather a) don't have the flashie powers to justfie dressing up like eveyday is Haloween, B) don't have the modivation to justfie dressing up like eveyday is Haloween, or c) acualy did dress up like eveyday is Haloween, and are now dead/locked up in the cookoo house.

This leaves the rest of the citizens of Hudson City, who are normal law abiding citizens. And, of course, the costumed crook and sniper vigalanties.

Of course, the Card Sharks have a few low level mutants on there side. Also, so do RAVEN (along with some hi-tech nasties like my own Dark Capercorn, who I might be convinced to shair with the world).

If you need a in game reasion, asume that in the city there is some sort of supermage who is keeping the 'mana level' down in the area in order to hide himself. Why? Well, if he let the mana level run high, then his/her/it's enimies can easly find him and destroy him/her/it.

If that dosen't help, just say "Earth DarkC" is the Dark Champions Earth, while "Earth C" is the Champions Earth. And neather the two will normaly come together, unless you say "Secret Crises".

  17. Re: Hand Killing Attack/Hand Attack

I think HA is treated differently because its only purpose is to add dice to STR. It can't be used without STR. Whereas HKA can be used with or without STR.

Also, HKA can, at maximum, do double its base DC's. Whereas HA normally has no upper cap; putting advantages on an HA forces it to have the max double thing, too.

So, why is it that there is no maximum in HA normaly, and then gets a maximum when an advantage is placed on it? And I am not a fan of haveing the player buy a manditory power limitation. Why not just make it a flat 5 per d6, and forbid extra strength with the limatation "Only To Cause Damage"?

    Well, that is my $0.03.

  18. Re: Hattori Hanzo Steel

Here's the stats i'd give to The Bride's katana:

    OCV: +2

    Damage: 2D6K

    StunX: +0

    STRMin: 10 (12 when wielded 1-handed)

Adding +1 to OCV, +1 to DC and -2 STRMin

Don't forget that ordinary swords, bought with cash, and not points, are breakable. You calculate the BODY and DEF thay have the same way you calculate it for a breakabul FOCUS (basicly, the points in the highest attack devided by five for the BODY...DEF asigned by the GM depending on what it is made of). This, The Bride (or, as I prefer to call her, Black Mamba, or even *BLEEP*), needs not buy the 'focus dispell' power in a 'normal' martial arts game (just have her buy her Hanzo steel katana with points, while the rest buys them with yen...)

Which reminds me, what is the name of Gogo's weapion? And what is it's stats?

  19. Re: Street Fighter II HERO

If your starting one via Play By E-Mail, then I pick France. And Savat being my fighting style. Watch out, cause this 'frog' kicks back.

Just don't send Beves and But Head my way (*Frog Baceball*...ick).

  20. Re: Not-so-Instant Change

    IMO....

Define a condition, like the activation of a Constant Power, under which the PC is considered to be in Hero ID. E.g., I have a character who, when in Hero ID, has Armor. The special effect of the Armor is that she's suddenly wearing honest-to-God armor. Give it Extra Time and Incantations (both Only to Activate), and there's your Hero ID.

She can't change into Hero ID without a Focus, so the Focus is required to activate the Armor-- but all her other powers are OIHID, effectively "linked" to the Armor.

Sounds good. It reminds me of Lady Heart, an honest to goodness Japanies anime style magical girl in the Sailor Moon tradition. Well, 'she' would be, if her real idenity was not that of a young american man with an obsesion with anime. While his powers were writen up in Hero 5th edition, the GM alowed me to use the 4th edition Instant Change power. Yes, most of his powers were in OIHI, except for Instant Change.

I guess if I had to write him up for a Digital Hero artical, I would give him a simple Shapechange power, with the advantages Reduce Endurance (0 END) and Presistance, and the limitations Fixed Shape (One, -1), Incantations (to activate, -1/4), and Gesters (to activate, -1/4). As a special effect, his clothing changes into his 'moveing hearts over a black background battle dress'.

What do you think? Is this a good way to create someone who physical looks difrent without a multiform (basicly same mind, and not that much difrence in physical and mental stats that an OIHI can't fix)?

  21. Re: Yu-Gi-herO

In Yu-Gi-Oh!, it realy dosen't matter, since not only are the monsters 'special effects', but also, since most of the time thay can't affect the real world, thay are illusions which do not go away when disbeliefed.

Of course, I am talking about two people playing a card game with Kaba's Dule Disk thingie. If you acualy want to do a writup on Yugi Muto and The Spirit Of The Millumumen Puzzel, you are going to have to give Yami a VVP limited by illusions. Most of theas illusions (or transformations) are bought with the No Normal Defence power (with the defence is not losing a game to him, and this, not suffering through a Penatly Game).

Which makes me think...who is toughter to writ up...Yugi Muto/Yama Yugi, or Jotaru Kujo and Star Platimum?

    steriaca (Ora! Ora! Ora!)

  22. Re: Street Fighter II HERO

Humm...I was wondering if you know any good Hero Play-By-EMail "Street Fighter" games being runed? I might be intrested creating a charater for it (Prehaps a rich french man who is an expert in Savat, and is infacuated with Karin? As for myself, I love Karin's hairstyle. A great question which is open to the entier house: Do you think Sausage Curls are so rair as to warent a Distinctive Feature in the modern world?)

  23. Re: April Fool's, Champions style

Actually, the last game I ran on April 1, I had CLOWN moving all over town, acting suspicious, snickering to themselves, wringing their hands evilly ...

and doing absolutely nothing. But you would not BELIEVE how paranoid everybody got.

Makes me wish that someone could defie Steve and give us a 5th edition version of CLOWN. I mean, we can't ALWAYS go to Fxbat for our lafter needs.

That also reminds me, once CLOWN snuck into our HQ (the Horison Building), covered it in orange Jello (but not covering the entrences and exits), replaced the Protectors uniforms with indistructable pink bunny outfits (thay were leasing out space, the group which acts like a securitie outfit, but are experts in superheros), replaced all the water bublers so that thay dispenced Crystal Pepsi (god, I MISS that drink), and placed a giant 'water' slide inside the building (well, it would be water if not for the Crystal Pepsi). God, I miss them.
