  1. (Grunt...) I do hope HERO staff will learn something out of this very interesting concept; Making archetypal characters is good as a way to show an indecisive player what it could look like, but it is the more personalized types who gets the fame. And Alice Queen of Heart is a beautiful exemple of that. I don't know too much of CU apart from Classic Ennemies and the usual things, but colorful -even disturbing charachters are lacking. I would have like the Protectors handle this concept, though. But hey, the game systems themselves are behond comparison.
  2. Heck, that's a lot! 1751 supers in Asia? In such a campaign, supers become almost a commonsight. It's also harder to keep track of the main heros/vilains. Makes for a somewhat "Kingdom Comish" feel. But it's alright I guess. I play a somewhat more epicurian campaign. I think it's kinda cool that as a super, your regularly cross paths with some regulars. Here are my numbers; Africa: 1 SH per 10 millions people, for ± 65 SH. North America: 1 per 750 000 inhabitants, about ± 490 SH. South America : 1 per 1.7 millions inhabitants, for ± 146 SH. Asia: 1 per 8 millions, ± 388 SH. Europe: 1 per 1,3 millions, so ± 538 SH. Oceania: 1 per 1,5 millions, about ± 19 SH. Arctic, Antarctic; Negligible. Those numbers are not only about population density, but modernity, civil background and economic/strategic importance. They include truly innovative tech-users, Immortals and Alien beings, but exclude run-of-the-mills tech and mundane (but talented) Martial artists.
  3. My first option would be to build them as Automatons rather than Vehicles, because of the semi-autonomous nature. x2 per 5 pts. They should look a lot like Monolith suggested. Maybe a mind link instead of a radio procedure, depending on the nature of the link. If they are of a more passive type, I would go for Ranged E-Senses, maybe with some telescopic capabilities and penality skill lvls. If Claisentience is used, maybe think about a limitation regarding opacity. All should be OAF. Maybe this is best if they have little importance in tactical situations -fights.
  4. Okay, how about a sentient android, an offspring of Mechanon, kind of like Jocasta in Avengers. Intricate familiaryty w. machinery, drones, and good at analyzing stuff. Can come with a small (40 pts) pool too. Give it a Disavantage, "fleeting soul; tends to get stuck on an endless suite of details". Robotic love? Here's another one. An extremely superobese hero, like the Blob, who turns out to be a failed experiment to make cells that could regenerate themselves. Young weasely guy, about 9 Dex and a Explosion on STR (Walloping the ground). The kid is a nerd turned bigger, meaner nerd. Still have that silly voice. Sweats easily. Eventually, he will cross the line between acceptable and unnessecary means. Fear of heights. A last one. This poor, ordinary joe has found those weird, gauntlet-like constructs, but has killed to got them. He now tries to attone for what he did by using the gautlets to go idealist. The constructs themselves are a nasty box of surprises (A random multipower, -¾) on which O-Joe has few control yet, mostly having powers that handle magnetism. Very potent when they work, but a little bit jangly, says rest of the team. Moreso because O-joe is an ordinary guy with a real, if banal life, and tends to think like an ordinary guy. He has a divorced wife and a daughter for who he pays a hefty sum.
  5. Ook ook. Those Defenders. The JLA's power level, plus the Avengers' polyvalence. Why do people ever forget about them. But hey, they would still lose to the Fan-4, IMHO. Such strongheaded individualists could hardly hope to beat the synergitic block that is the FF. And then there's Mr. Fantastic Deus Ex Machina.
  6. OIHID? Not much worries there. The average limitations a player puts on a given power is around -½. You know, these powersuits... It is rather convenient for classical secret ID roleplaying, and it is quite safe in combat. Everybody get something, quite a good deal, I'd say.
  7. Yeah, this is fun. Making up those established characters is a volatile thing, and tends to change according to the writers. I would do two version of each, one fast and rough-edge for use with a team, and the other one more min-maxed and detailed, for solo use. I think you guys are giving too much points to some of these. Hawkman at 450? A little exessive IMO. Time to flex mine. JLA Superman; 700-900 pts, a STR of 90, SPD 6, dex 27, def 45. Martian Manhunter; I don't know. He is a Superman with all powers. Regular martian stock, you know. 700-900 pts too. Wonder Woman; 500-650 pts for the Greek but America-loving amazon. Batman; 500-650 pts too, much in skills, gear and Find Weaknesses. Aquaman; 450-600 pts. Green Lantern; 450-600 pts, a huge variable pool with 0 END cost. The Flash; 500-650 pts for the speedster to end all speedsters. Avenger Thor; 650-850 pts whitout Odinforce, STR 70, dex 18, a hammerfull of tricks. Iron Man; 550-700 pts. Cap America; 400-500 pts for the Icon, much of it in skills and CSLs. The Wasp; 300-400 pts for this eternal underdog. Scarlet Witch; 350-450 pts. Hawkeye; No Avengers whitout this fave! 350-450 pts, a multipower. Hank Pym, in whatever incarnation; 350-450 pts X-Men Prof Xavier; 350-450 pts Marvel Girl (Jean Grey); 300-400 pts Cyclops; 300-400 pts too Iceman; 300-400 pts Wolverine; 350-450 pts. I think this guy is overrated. Rogue; My gawd. certainly 500-700 pts as designed. I don't like this concept. Storm; 400-600 pts Fantastic Four. I love this somewhat lackluster team. Mr Fantastic; 450-600 pts, a great Variable pool, many Analyze skills. The Thing; 450-600 pts typical brick The Human Torch II; 450-600 pts too. The Invisible Girl; Give this underated chick 450-600 pts too. Now who wins? JLA are the most powerful by far, their character ending up as the quintessence of their respective fields. However the Avengers are better-led and more polyvalent. The X-men are too, but does not seem enough disciplined to hold their own in this. The Avenger should win, with a little twist of plot. But if these teams were cut down to 4 members, they should all wield before the very synergic Fan-4. How can you lose with Reed Richards on your side?

    For FREEDOM!

Aah, El Diablo... What a frustrating character; He can't fly while using his power, nor can't he be assign to an ennemy using his tongue of flames because he always end up stunning himself with that "Hot Tempered/ trait of his. That was quite mortal (for him) with the Inferno power, which has too short a range when he overpowers, and that is quite often. If Man-Bot isn't here to transfer power to him, I end up using him as a low-threat grounded, hand-to-hand fighter.

    For FREEDOM!

Arrgh! That game was too short! More, more! My favorites in order are Man'o'war, Liberty Lad (fast, nimble and well-rounded), The Alche-Miss (the most underrated of them all, and a snappy one), Eve (I love the concept as well as the hottie) and the Ant. Man-bot has a great depth of character, but was kinda frustrating to play. If you got the Character Extension pack, check out for Iron Ox. This guy's voice characterisation is a blast!
  10. Yeah, well, Witchcraft vs Mother Raven. Quite a shame, with all these boards going down. I missed the Kinetic match, and now I would like to go back to help him, because I'm pulled towards SAS for the tird time (after Red Phoenix and the other, patriotic hero). I mean, that's too much. While Witchcraft feels somewhat like an add-on mage (even the costume, or the name), Mother Raven is striking by her rich imagery and flavour. This is in no way a critic of HERO, the best system by a long shot. Justice must be done to the more interesting concept, and that transcend games stats. Mother Raven, says He. (edited to correct blatant ortograf)
  11. One I like among my NPCs is Doc. Savoy, a Swiss, four-armed, scientific brick. Wearing lab coats and glasses, this conservative man disposes of a tech pool, and is strong at analysing things. Only in last recourse does he uses his strength, usually to grab. And that's where opponents are surprised at how strong he is (STR 60 pts).
