  1. One of the first characters I made was a Winner in the Eskimo beauty pageant, they had called upon the pageant a joke and a Primitive Spirit took revenge on the beautiful winner of the show and turned her into a blood thirsty animal.  The spirit could not force her personality to change and so instead of becoming a villain she harnessed the power of Spirit and became Amorak (Inuit word meaning "Wolf-Being").

    Got the name from a Farley Mowat book and ran with it...

    My Forum name was supposed to be Amorakca, but I messed up in creating the name and just left it...

  2. I forgot to mention: on February 11th, Gamers Giving (a local gaming-for-charity group) is holding a game day to raise money for a local gamer who has cancer and who's also facing major financial problems due to insurance company shenanigans. I'm running a Champions game, and my friend Jake Burgess is also running a Shadows Angelus game in Hero, and there are going to be a bunch of other fun games, and it's all to help a good guy who needs a hand.

    It's being held at Crit Castle in Aurora from 9am to 11pm. Sign up for games here, or just show up and we'll find something for you to throw dice at.

    This is so cool!!  Good on you BDH!!

  3. We ran a game where one of the superheroes was a Valkyrie, literally from Norse mythology.

    Another character died prematurely, and the remaining heroes descended into Hel to retrieve him, with the assistance of a Valkyrie.  They paid the ferryman crossing the River Styx, but not till they got to the other side (Played Chris de Burgh's "Don't pay the Ferryman" song to let them know not to pay too early...)

    We had numerous things happen to the heroes as they sought to find their lost comrade until they finally found his soul.  My wife was running the group telepath and unbeknownst to the other players she was in on this storyline.  When they found him and tried to take him back out, She  described her body as turning from its usual perkiness to a creature of dread and then she Screamed (literally) "He belongs to me now!!!"  the players were shocked and now - 20 years later (or more) they still talk about this tale.

    Good times...

  4. Groups I run & occasionally play in for some obscure reason don't like to name their group or to be Team Leader,  <Whine> I don't wanna be Team Leader <end whine>

    So we settled on Matrix and that became the name for the team, not sure who suggested it but no one complained and thus it was born...

    Now I have a "new" group and they will need to pick a name so, I wonder what will come of that... Fortunately there are 5 new players so I hope the other three don't rub off on them...

  5. No, it's not under Store. At the top of this page, go to Client Area > Purchases. HD should be listed there, and you should be able to re-download it. The only catch is if you purchased it before the site relaunch it may not have ported over, in which case I'd suggest emailing Simon or someone. I had thought there was a thread about this in the HD section awhile back, but apparently I failed my Perception (Online Forums) Roll.

    Change Environment strikes again!!

  6. To pique your interest more... here is the write-up in the store!

    This PDF expands the Superhero Gallery from pages 243-87 of Champions to add ten new character types you can quickly and easily create:

    —the Animal-Man, a character whose powers derive from, or are themed around, a particular type of animal;

    —the Caped Detective, who combines his investigative skills with various fighting abilities and gadgets to make himself a matchless enemy of the underworld;

    —the Cultural Mystic, whose magical powers derive from a specific mystical tradition or culture (such as Egyptian, Shamanism, or Voodoo on this sheet, though you can easily adapt it to others if you’d like);

    —the Elemental Powered Armor wearer, whose powered armor’s weapons and defenses focus on a specific “elemental” form of attack (such as Fire, Electricity, or Ice);

    —the Force character, who manipulates sheer force to attack, move objects, and achieve other effects;

    —the Light character, who controls light in various forms (from blinding flares to deadly lasers);

    —the Power Weapon wielder, who possesses a weapon of great cosmic, mystic, or technological might;

    —the Robo-Hero, whose artificial body grants him superhuman powers;

    —the Shadowmaster, who controls darkness and shadow; and

    —the Themed Gadgeteer, whose arsenal of gadgets are all designed or formed along some theme (such as a particular animal, holiday, or category of objects [such as “toys”]).

  7. Here's what I figure it should look like, a sheet I built based on some ideas from other people:

    2m84oj4.jpg

    The filled out version would have really simple info like rolls for skills, all Combat Value slots filled in with the (OCV+11)-3d6 roll (so an OCV 8 has a 19- roll in the combat value slot) and no costs anywhere.  Powers are listed in the simplest terms - damage, name.  The idea is to give the players as minimal info as they can use to play with and no more.

    Plus, the color coding allows the GM to say "your stats are in the green section!"

    Has anyone tried to recreate this as an export template for Hero Designer?

  8. I really like Mighty Girl!!  You might consider giving her Striking Appearance instead of or on top of the Distinctive features...

    A game I played in ages ago using Marvel Super Heroes had a character who had hair similar to this toon.  Except it was purple, and she wanted a Secret Id, but it wasn't going to happen... The player tried dying her hair but when she went to use her powers all the dye "fell off"!!

  9.

    Of course, villains have Hunteds too.  Especially those who dare to steal from Mechanon, trash a base of his, and build their own lackey in his image.  Heh, heh, heh.

    Bolo you are positively devilish! I love it... Not sure if it helps or hinders you...  Didn't Mechanon create a love called the Engineer?

  10.

    My friends and I are running a 5th edition Champions campaign. We all play remotely using roll20.net as our table top and skype to communicate. So we have decided to record the skype chat and post the results online!

    If you want to have a listen, have a look at www.chimpions.co.uk  ;)

    Cheers!

    This is from further down the thread line...  I've listened to their first broadcast, and enjoyed it! The thread is "Blatant Podcast..."
