  1. I've just mailed back the last set of discs from the Netflix DVD service, I'm expecting two discs to be sent to me sometime next week, and I might receive up to 10 discs sent on September 29th, the last day that they are shipping them. None of the discs need to be returned, and I'm guessing that the bonus discs is a way of getting rid of a huge chunk of their library. Their reason for the "Final Season" was because it's becoming harder to source and maintain their discs, and the number of subscribers has dropped substantially in recent years. Unfortunately, the promise of streaming services having a large back catalog is largely fallen by the wayside, and the Netflix DVD service was one way to view some of the older movies from before the 1990s.

They're rapidly progressing along the WotC roadmap. They're now at the "let's offer new terms that still violate our previous promises, but trust us not to go back on our word" stage.

For multiple reasons, this isn't considered right any more, due to calibration problems, and the feature they identified as phosphine probably being a blend of sulfur dioxide lines instead (and SO2 is already known to be present and strong in the Venusian atmosphere).

I don't think that it will be.  McDonalds has very cheap prices on its fountain drinks.  Other fast food restaurants charge over twice as much.  So, other fast food restaurants can use there extra profit margin on people who don't get a refill or get only one, to cover the expense of people who go back for 4 or 5 refills.  Mickey Dees not so much.

It's a headcount thing. You can use the person handing out orders in-store to fill the drinks, and you don't need to schedule someone for regular cleaning/restocking of the customer-accessible fountain drink area.

  5. I've been playing Bethesda's new game, Starfield, as part of the Early Access program (It officially launches on September 6). I'm about 7 hours in and I'm having a really good time. One review I saw said that it was "Skyrim in space", and that's mostly correct. I bought my copy, but Game Pass subscribers will be able to play for free on September 6. Most of my time has been spent playing it on my gaming PC, but I did switch over to the Xbox Series X for about an hour (buy once, play on either). Game saves are cloud-based, so it was the same character on both. Space combat is a lot of fun, but there's a bit of a learning curve.

Because I'm susceptible to motion sickness, I usually play Skyrim in third-person. I've been playing Starfield in first-person, however, as the video's much smoother and it doesn't seem to trigger my motion sickness. Third-person does trigger my motion sickness, and I think that it's because the character wobbles a bit while you are walking.

  6. Babylon 5: The Road Home: This new animated feature finds President John Sheridan untethered in Time and S("We can't say that because of copyright"-Zathras). There's a bit of a "clip show" feel to it, but I did enjoy it. (UHD Blu-ray)

Two episodes of Ahsoka have dropped on Disney+, and they basically cover a bunch of ground from the end of Star Wars: Rebels for those of us who didn't watch that all the way through. I like it so far.
