Actually I think Defaults and the whole defaulting tree is kinda silly. IMNSHO if ya really need defaults just "default "to either a similar skill at a penalty or go with a Char based roll at a bigger penalty, theres only about 10 of those to choose from.

if ya need a chart swipe it from GURPS

otherwise BYO or handle it off the cuff.

but some of the most menmorable games and characters I have ever had have been in some XD&D games. Including Basic, Expert, Advanced, and 2nd.

There is one exception, a single HERO campaign with a few characters I played in.

The system is largely irrelevant the real point is how everyone treats everyone in the game. That is what makes a game a good game.

Actually I have been hankering for a real solid game of Advanced, maybe even bringing them up from Basic and then converting......

Another Option would be buying the Summoning power or an aid through the Critter, kinda like the army of Deamons trick evil people can do in AD&D....

If a limitation is not really limiting make it an sfx,

other options would be an Aid with a Trigger: Gestures and Incantations with another Aid with Trigger: Louder Gestures and Bigger Incantations......

Well most systems won't let you delete so it is better to rename rather than let it go to waste.

Gm Opens MM book where I can't see it.

He points at a critter (keep in Mind I dont even have the page #)

that I still cannot see.

He tells me "-8 AC, what is it's hit dice?"

I tell him "16"

He says" your wrong, its 200 hitpoints"

I respond with "The DMg Maxes out it's Thaco Chart at 16+ HD, all Greater Deamons with listed hit points fight at 16+ HD level according to the DMG... and since you told me it has 200 hitpoints it's Demogorgon on page 16 or 17...."

that forever made me in that group for any rules questions.
