  1. Well, each GM has different xp philosophies, yes? "Fast", "Slow"... both subjective words.
  2. Wow, thanks to each of you for taking time to help me out. Yes, I did ask him how would he be contributing to the super team... he's just the type of guy who wants to do something differently and then do his best to roleplay it. I did explain that there's a good chance that since I award XP proportionate to contribution that he would not get as many XP as the rest of the players. He says he's fine with that... but something tells me when others are getting four or five XP to his ONE each session...he may start looking at his character differently. Of course, I would then respond: "Why do you need XP anyway? You only have the one power, right?" Muahahaha! I'll take a look at VPP and see if we can go from there. And mallet: thanks for bringing up a good point...to "refill" means to only bring something up to what its maximum level was originally... I'll mention that to him today to see what he says. I guess I would like to somehow dissuade him from making this type of character... but he's a stubborn individual, so we'll have to wait and see. Thanks again, all!
  3. Hello all, I have a player with an interesting concept. He wants to have his character be able to "refill" anything (from a car's gasoline tank, to a foe's alcohol blood level, to a bank account). He couldn't make something from nothing. In other words, he could fill a gun's chamber, because bullets are meant for it...but he could not cause a box of bullets to appear on the table. I've no idea where even to begin. At first I thought of transform, but I was wondering if duplicate would be a better mechanic? Any advice? I promised him I would ask you much more experienced Champions. Thanks! Ted
  4. Thanks for responding, Tasha. Yes, I got mine a couple of days ago and I'm happy with it, for the most part. There's a slight scratch/nick in the center of one of the panels, but I notified Danny (the person who's contacted me) and he was grateful for the feedback.
  5. Woodent lyf b eezeer if wee speld wurdz the wae thae sowndid?
  6. Thanks again, all. I think I'm going to try starting the campaign with ECs (if only because I'm familiar with them) and go from there. I can still approve/disapprove powers, etc.
  7. Thanks to you both, Scott and Tasha! I'm glad that Champions Complete will be good source of information.
  8. Thanks, Scott. So if I have Champions Complete, that is basically 6e, correct?
  9. Tasha thanks for the additional information, but I think you lost me. Are you suggesting that I should purchase an additional book to make my campaigns better? (I'm lost between the talk of 6e, 5e, etc.) (Sorry for being daft!)
  10. I think I'll check out Good Reader and see if I can't find many of my Champions book on PDF (in the store, etc.) I like the idea of not having to lug ALL the books around (and being able to search for keywords, etc.) Thank you all again!
  11. Thank you all very much! On a lark, I went back out to my shed (this time during the day - duh!) and found my 4th ed. rules. Seeing as I really just wanted info. on Elemental Control framework, I think I'm okay for now.
  12. Thanks for the links, Spence! Much appreciated. It appears the eBay auction is for the non-revised edition (although I may be misreading the title). I think I may purchased the PDF and try a PDF reader (and/or iBooks) on my iPad. I reckon it's time I join this century, eh?
  13. Thanks much, Gonster. I saw some 5th editions...but yet to find REVISED. I'll keep watching for them, however.
  14. That would be great, Spence! I could always use more resources and references.
  15. Thanks for responding, Spence. I like your idea of landscape, but the documents I plan on inserting (provided on these forums by a very helpful member) are portrait, so rather than try to make them landscape... I figure I'll just laminate them and slip them in. I just hope that the game screen will arrive and that I didn't send $30+ out to etherspace.
  16. Wonderful! Thank you, Chris. I'll try that this weekend and give it a shot. (I found a PDF reader app that allows for highlighting, etc... and that may be useful as a GM as well).
  17. Chris and Ndreare, again... my thanks! Chris, so when I do that, I don't need to have a wifi connection? It downloads locally to the iPad? (I apologize for the possibly-dumb question, and I thank you for your patience!) Ted
  18. Thanks to you both, Ndreare and Lemming, for your help. I didn't even think to look on Amazon or eBay.
  19. Hello all and happy Friday! As the thread's title states: I'm wondering if the 5th edition of the Hero System is available as a hard copy? I see it as PDF in the store here. I ask because I'd like my players to be able to sit around and read it. Or could you suggest an iPad app that allows me to download it and have access it on my iPad locally (no need for Internet)? Thanks much! Ted
  20. Wonderful...thanks for taking the time to answer, Ninja-Bear.
  21. Hello all, I'm wondering if Hammerdog still sells these screens? I made a purchase and have emailed them a couple of times to make sure it went through... and I have not gotten a response both times. Is the company still in business and they just don't answer emails? Or should I be contacting Paypal for a refund? Thanks much.
  22. Thank you all very much for your help. Forgive this silly question...but who/what is Fred?
  23. Hello all, Now that I've purchased many of the new Champions books (including Champions Complete), I thought I'd go hunting for my 4th ed hardcover....and can't seem to find it! I wanted to re-read the material about Element Control (like Multipower, but powers can be used all at once). I see Champions Complete has "Unified Powers" now...but thought I would have my players use EC. I'm wondering if there's somewhere I might purchase it (either hardcover, or even PDF)? Or does the 5th edition Hero have EC included? I've checked Amazon and I see some used sales, but figured it wouldn't hurt to check here as well (some stores are selling it "new" for over $100!) D'oh! Thanks for any guidance.
