  1. Another one, albeit not significant because it's a Definition mistake. Power: Mind Control Modifier: Can Be Dispelled the DEFINITION starts "An Entangle with this limitation...."
  2. PG: LL's point is, you're jumping to the defense of the police, when that was never the issue. Beau gave a good rundown and even said, it was likely a justified shooting, from the police perspective. And I agree with LL: I don't really think we've discussed the impact of broad fearmongering. Of *hate* mongering, unfortunately, yes. But these aren't hate incidents, at least on the surface. Now...if you want to take umbrage with the tone of CNN's coverage...THAT, I understand completely. The first 30 seconds are enough. https://www.cnn.com/videos/us/2023/04/15/new-mexico-police-shooting-wrong-address-contd-nr-vpx.cnn She's quite clearly emphasizing "innocent" and "wrong address." She's imputing bad police actions. If that's driving your reaction here...I understand that completely. There's a reason why I dislike CNN. Not as much as Fox, but that's boundless. One can be skeptical in general about police statements; there've been FAR too many that have been flat-out lies and cover-ups. But the analyst flat out states that, if you look at the video slowed down, she can see a gun. She largely corroborates the chief's story. But they STILL take that tone. That's grossly irresponsible, IMO.
  3. OTOH: we have to recognoze that they were vulnerable because they made specific statements relating to entities. (And entities with the resources to pursue the litigation, and to assert sufficient harm to ask for HUGE damages.) Contrast that with, say, their COVID statements. There were no entities being harmed. Same with any climate denials. Mostly the same with Jan. 6th...they might be liable for emotional damages there, a la Alex Jones and the Sandy Hook families, but that would be harder to prove against them, and wouldn't rise to anything like the Jones case. Basically, they were burned because they were *massively* stupid and careless. They don't need to change much at all, to avoid a repeat.
  4. Fox Corp. reported $3B in revenue for the 3rd quarter of 2022, but that's the entire corporation. The breakdown shows about $1.4B from cable network programming. https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/fox-reports-first-quarter-fiscal-2023-revenues-of-3-19-billion-301664540.html We're only estimating, so, let's assume annual is 4x that. About 5.7B. That means the settlement is 15% of gross revenue for the year. They won't ignore that. Oh, and this does not cover the Smartmatic suit. They're asking for $2.7B.
  5. If you somehow reach Old Man's age, it's centuries.... Fox chooses to SETTLE in the Dominion case. For a LOT. Almost $800 MILLION. My, my, my, my, my....
  6. Typo, perhaps. It stood out to me, to cross-check, because at -1/2...wow. WAY too much.
  7. Shrinking has a Modifier, Easily Perceived. It says the PER penalty doesn't get applied when it would be. Per 6E1 283, this is a -1/4 limitation. HD has it as -.5, so -1/2. Main6E dated 7/31/2022, which is the most recent I have.
  8. I'm hoping Green gets suspended for 2 games for that act.
  9. Salary cap jumped $20M over 2022. Plus, we're seeing WWI in action...Watson-Wilson Inflation. That said, a crazy deal like this will impact the Eagles' flexibility.
  10. Yeah, absolutely no one benefits if the drug approval process can be thrown out on a political whim. NYT has a story today about a professor who advocates for a new approach to urban planning, which has been gaining support. But in the last few years, his theories have been twisted by the conspiracy theorists in outlandish, outrageous directions, and he's become a target of death threats. This isn't isolated, either: The conspiracy theorists connect to the usual themes...climate denial, vaccine denial, general paranoia. There's little new *there*...but the point to me is to realize that these <BLEEP>s are having larger negative impacts than many of us might realize. Their numbers might be small, particularly the principal actors, but social media is a powerful amplifier.
  11. One must wonder if this is going to force him to retire. If there's another procedure on the knee/quad, will it be possible for it to recover adequately? Not that it much matters. The Bruins are fairly heavy favorites, but then...when you set records for most points and most wins, that kinda goes with the territory. Avs are the #2 pick, tho. For those who wanna watch...playoffs start tomorrow (Monday) night. Games are split...mostly ESPN and ESPN 2, some on TBS or occasionally TNT. Nice thing about the NHL playoffs is, it's a clockwork schedule. Barring clinches and waiting for the next round...pretty much every team plays every other night, unlike the NBA where there are often multiple off days between games...even if there's no travel.
  12. OK, so instead of a 55% drop in value, it's maybe only a 40% drop. So...around as successful as Boeing has been in the last 4-5 years, give or take.
  13. Not telling anything meaningful. I said nothing meaningful. There's lots of things you can say *broadly* even if the details would be a serious violation. Saying I had a clearance is also not a problem. Everyone had badges in the building...the badges were color coded to show clearance level. Now, yeah, you were to take the badge off on exiting, but plenty of people without a clearance would know people who had them...including the occasional TS. Plus: I retired from that 10 years ago. Any specific things I saw, that would clearly be classified? LONG!!! forgotten. And most of it would be obsolete. Like...oh, around 2009 or 2010, we got a classified briefing about drones. Lot of it was fairly general. Don't remember word 1 now. And almost certainly, all of the info has LONG!!! been superseded.
  14. Q: Hey, Dr. Moreau, my gardener hurt his back, can you help me find a fill-in? A: In the booth, in the back, in the corner, in the dark.
  15. I think a knockdown drag-out fight among the shareholders would be quite amusing to watch.
  16. Twitter killed their old APIs, and instituted new rules...and prices...to use the new ones. There's a VERY basic level that allows very limited access...but to get more costs $42,000 *per month.* Right now, this means National Weather Service emergency bulletins...like tornado warnings...can't be sent out automatically. https://mashable.com/article/twitter-api-removal-public-safety-twitter-accounts The story also notes that the New York and San Francisco mass transit services send similar alerts as needed. Elsewhere...Minnesota Public Radio, which is a pretty big content creator, joined NPR and PBS in boycotting Twitter. NPR and PBS had a combined 10 million followers.
  17. Considering that there was a security marking on EVERY page of every classified document I handled, back when I was involved in that...that should be...well...kinda hard to forget.... Besides...I only had a Secret clearance, and we got *inundated* with security reminders. TS is significantly harder to get, and I suspect has a much higher burden of updates, briefings, etc. NPR is reporting, too, that he was worried that making transcriptions at work would get him in trouble. Well, DUDE...if that would, then how can discussing it on social media be OK??? <sigh> It's beginning to look like there's no malice per se, just abject stupidity or complete lack of judgment. Even if the kid gets out of prison reasonably young, it feels rather unlikely he'll get a job much better than a janitor.
  18. It's not something you deal with directly, so it's reasonable not understanding what the file's even for...much less that you want to delete it.
  19. Do they expect us to take those characters seriously, when they put them into such a ridiculous farce?
  20. And the next shoe has dropped in the judipolitical farce surrounding mifepristone. Fortunately, it's the last one for a few days. After 2 separate, conflicting rulings, the appeals court probably rejecting the decertification (the period to challenge expired) but saying "oh but you can't mail it"...Alito issued a stay, restoring the status quo until the Supreme Court can look at things. The stay expires Wednesday, but arguments are required by Tuesday.
  21. Hey, the Chiefs have nothing to do with this, and the Eagles don't need any more motivation. That said: Super Bowl losers have a really mixed bag, and the Eagles lost both coordinators. It's fan taunting, not team trash talk. Besides, it's the Eagles. Their own fans have done worse *to them*....regularly!
  22. Mavs get fined $750K for the blatant tanking. Slap on the wrist. With a wet noodle. I'll grant that tanking's a big problem, but if you can't start with this EGREGIOUS offense, then...when? Hoping for OKC to keep their rally going...which is quite the surprise given the debacle they've been recently. And the T'wolves...man, they don't deserve to advance. Bulls vs. Heat...don't care. Don't expect much from this one. Who knows, if there's a decent baseball game on, I may watch that.
  23. Looks like there's more to the story. The problems in women's cycling run deeper. https://www.bicycling.com/racing/a43593027/zaaf-cycling-team-folding-failing-to-pay-riders/ And funding for men's cycling has been tricky as well.
