  1. Consider this:

6d6 Blast vs 2d6 RKA. (Each 30 APs)

Say we were to make each an NND Versus Longevity.

6d6 Blast NND (Standard Effect is 18 STUN) vs 2d6 RKA NND (Standard Effect is 12 STUN) (Each 60 APs)

Does this seem unfair? For the same AP amount, one gets 6 More STUN by building two very similar attacks as a Blast instead of RKA. This effect translates continuously for every 3 DCs. Is there an easy way to fix this?

  2. I do occasionally, mostly in my Star Hero and Fantasy games. In Star Hero, We usually spend some time on the ship(s) and have interactions on the ship(s) games. Tournaments, 3-D Chess, etc. Also, in my Fantasy Hero games, people can stop at the town to buy from shops and such. Maybe one of these towns has a jousting tournament for the Knight? A spell competition for the Wizard? Something like that.

  3. I have done characters such like the Indian Territory. I once did this:

Chief Stone is an auramancer that gains different power sets from the different paints he puts on his face. One gives him life magic. One gives him death magic. One gives him holy magic. One gives him demonic magic. So on and so forth.

  4. I really don't worry about costume damage unless, of course, it is appropriate for the game. For BB above, his robe never gets damaged, his spikes never get rusted, and his black clothes don't fade. It is a staple for him, and I never remove his "signature" because it is a part of his character.

  5. Thirded.

Just make a "AoE, Selective" and you are golden. If you want it to still work against normal DCV, use non-selective (we really need a better name for that variant).

Pardon me if I am incorrect, but doesn't AOE Selective already work against the target's normal DCV? (Per 6E1 324)

For me, this is a rather large AOE Selective and No Range. I have done powers like this before (like once or twice), and I think that was way I built it.

  6. My thing about HA is that a lot of powers that you make cannot be done with HA.

Think about the classic gauntlet. Normally built as a HA with restrainable and OIF. How would you model this without it? Limited STR? You are using the same thing. HTH Killing? Maybe for a spiked gauntlet, but not for gauntlet. Damage Classes? That is a Martial Maneuver DC or Deadly Blow.

I have always thought of HA as this.

5 STR with a -1 Point Adder "Cannot Be Used Alone" Drained Seperately (+1/4) (5 APs) Only to Increase Damage Done By STR Based Normal Attacks (-1/4) 4 RPs.

EDIT: Plus you add a +0 Advantage to Switch From PD to ED.

  7. For 5 points I can buy +5 STR which gives me:

    • +1 DC unarmed combat damage
    • +1 DC with most melee weapons that do Normal Damage
    • +1 DC with most melee weapons that do Killing Damage
    • +1 DC for Grabbing, Squeezing,
    • +1 DC with any HKA Maneuvers
    • +1d6 to Break free from Entangles, Grabs
    • +1 to STR Characteristic Rolls
    • x2 Lifting capacity (and thus affects Encumbrance)
    • +8m Throwing distance
    • …I’m sure I missed a few things

Or for 4 points I can buy +1d6 HA which buys me:

    • +1 DC unarmed combat damage
    • …and that’s all folks.

Well, HA actually adds to Normal Damage Martial Maneuvers per 6E1 231. Also, if you use the rule of not being able to double damage on a weapon without breaking it, STR is affected but HA is not. Additionally, another rule allows for STR in Heroic Games to cost 1 END for 5 STR. In that case, HA has less END cost at 1 END Per 10 APs.

  8. 1) Does Damage Reduction reduce the damage dealt by Penetration?

1a) Let's say that Andrew the Assassin stabs Thugbuster in the chest with a Knife. The Knife is built as a HKA Penetrating. Thugbuster has enough rPD to resist all of the damage but the penetrating damage. He also has NORMAL Physical Damage Reduction. Does he reduce the effects of the damage or does he need Resistant Damage Reduction to block out some of the damage? (Answer only if 1 is "Yes")

An overread on my part, Thanks!

  9. 1) Do thrown weapons (like Throwing Knives or an Atlatl) for the purposes of CSLS count as Ranged or HTH Weapons?

    2) For Reduced END 1/2 END, is the power's END cost based upon AP or prior end cost? For Example: A 9d6 Aid has an AP of 54 and an END cost of 5. If 1/2 END is applied, does the power cost 3 END (54/2=27 APs thus 3 END) or 2 END (5/2=2.5 END thus 2 END)?
