As you probably know from posts we made years ago, we had planned to do one and I was really looking forward to writing it -- Aaron was going to do all the setting and NPC stuff, while I would write the genre material, character sheets, and other such stuff. Unfortunately, Aaron's death torpedoed the project. While I'd love to tackle the book myself (maybe even as a sectional book), but the sad fact is that we have lots of data that Pulp Hero supplements simply don't sell well. I love the genre and would love to write more for it, but aside from the occasional small PDF product that I can produce myself in my spare time, it simply isn't economically feasible. :(

Yes. I was saddened to hear of Mr. Allston's passing, not just that it meant the end of the Land of Mystery returning.

If you are using your PRE attack to influence a person in a positive way or where appearance may make a difference.

Ex: Say your character is a Hollywood Starlet or Supermodel.  You need to rent a room for you and your party but you are in one of the hotel's servicing a convention.  You could use a presence attack (I am a star!) to cow tow the front desk manager into giving you the better rooms and denigrating the worse room to conventioneers who haven't arrived yet compared to persuasion which doesn't rely as much on sheer presence as compared to talking.

Thanks that is helpful. I understand the mechanics of adding it to the Pre roll, just not the justification for it.

Just FYI, if the OP is using Champions character examples (which I suspect by their specifically categorizing Catwoman as a DC character), Lady Blue is a Robin Hood-esque thief using a force-field-generating costume, who keeps violence to a minimum. Champions Vixen is different from DC Vixen, in that she's a Desolidifying cat burglar, very much not a combatant. (Both are in Champions Villains Volume Three.) And of course, Catwoman doesn't usually kill unless she has to.

Yes, I was referring to Lady Blue and Vixen of the Champions Universe.

  4. ok, again thanks for all the suggestions. Read through them. I'm looking for something mystical. There are different types of wiccans from what I've been told. I think I'm going to go with my original idea with a twist from the suggestions.

If the media gave her the name, it would probably be the, "[adjective] Witch" or the, "[adjective] Sorceress."

I thought of that but thinking it through with the suggestions- She has a series of crimes, all alluded  to the heroes in their previous adventures. The heist that gets the players involved is of a visiting display at a museum. In an interview the curator, who is familiar with  Greek mythology, says the video tape caught a mysterious women just appearing then disappearing like a "modern day Hecate." The media runs with this quote. The anti-hero of course does not call herself this thinking herself more of the Grey Witch(not completely sold on this name), who is an actual follower of Danu. Hecate, the goddess, gets mad for the use of her name and sends the Erinyes (Furies) to punish the Grey Witch. The Erinyes arrive at a time the players,  one who has connections to Celtic mythology himself, has tracked down the Grey Witch/Hecate either at another heist or at her lair. What does do the players do? If they chooses to save her from the Erinyes then a possible romance could occur with one of the players. And how does she and the payer convince the goddess Hecate she didn't intentionally steal her name.  If they don't Hecate(the Goddess is pleased) but Danu could get mad. Throw in the Empusae as well as the true purpose of the artifact she stole from the museum for a patron and it should give several session worth of entertainment.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. It helped to make a more entertaining story for the campaign!

  5. Got to get to work, but  a BIG thank you to everyone who posted an idea so far. It's helped me start to get a better idea on a name or at least a better thought process. I like the symbology of Hecate/Hekate or Hermes/Mercury but the character I am envisioning wouldn't take the name of a goddess.  She wouldn't want to offend the goddess.  Even though that would be a good plot...  my original idea was she didn't give herself the name but the local news/news paper did.  Thanks for all the ideas I'm going to look through them all when I get off work.

  6. Any help would be appreciated. I'm looking for name for a solo mystic super villain who is  Wiccan. She's female and is an anti-hero in the mold of Lady Blue, Vixen or DC's Catwoman.  Thief with a good heart, has minor mystical powers, uses teleport spelll to break in and steal items but uses some of the money for orphans, homeless, ect.  Obvious code vs. killing. She's meant as a possible romantic interest for a PC but I am having trouble coming up with a fitting name. The campaign is going to be either Dark Champions or Champions, The players haven't decided yet. If it's champions she would not be such a minor mystic.

Same quality as far as I know. I was going to get a set, but they were having trouble with the little blue boxes in the sidebars and stuff and had to fiddle with the PDFs to fix it. I forgot to get copies after they re-released the PDFs. I'm pretty happy with all the POD books I've gotten so far, so it's probably worth getting them for beater copies. I can't even tell the difference between the originals and the PODs on my shelf.

So I ordered the softcover versions of Vol. 1 and Vol 2.

Volume 1 arrived to day and I was pleased with what I got. It's no where as thick as the hardcover so I think it will work nicely as a table copy to save my hardcovers.

  8. The Silver Bullet -with obvious silver outfit

Speed- silver age speedster with the obvious and corny catch phrase: "This looks like a need for Speed!"

    The Whiz- golden age speedster

    Turbo

    Mach 3

    Photon

    Supersonic

Hemi-In a world that has corporate sponsored superheroes, a speedster sponsored by the Chrysler corporation

Cyclotron- really good at running in circles😁

    Accelerator

    The Dart

By the way, for what it’s worth, you can get a lot of the books through the store here along with PDF copies in the same bundle. The series of blue paperbacks (Skills, Equipment, etc.) are available as POD and they’re much more useful for actual gameplay and are worth adding to your collection. All of these paper copies come with PDFs pretty much anywhere you get them, which is pretty useful.

Thanks, I have the blue books in soft cover. I did have a question though, if you or someone could help me out? I was thinking of getting HS Vol 1 and HS Vol 2 in soft cover (black & white) to save some wear on my hardcovers. Are the soft-covers of HS Vol. 1 and HS Vol 2 the same quality as something like the HS Bestiary? I ask because the Bestiary has held up pretty well for me and is close in page size to Vol.1. I already own Champions Complete.

Was there a softcover or POD of MHI?

Honestly, a POD would be great!  I could pick up a couple of table copies!

Though as long as I'm asking for ponies, I think there should be POD of pretty much every rules and genre book published.   😕

I mean, it's not like we don't have the raw material or the know-how....

No idea if there was a POD or softcover of MHI. The kickstarter page just mentions Hardcover color. The one I just got is hardcover and color.

I think @chall nailed it in the original post.

Thanks, but I missed Monster Hunters International Employee Handbook and Role-playing game in the original post. I know that was a hardcover. I own it (now, friend had one and didn't want a fortune for it)and the others in my original post but just wanted to see if there were others that were produced other than what I knew of. Thanks everyone!

  12. I would want to see information on running myths, demigods/god level characters. Considerations and concerns in making demigods/gods/ myths, playing them, playing gods and including myths in different genres(champions, fantasy hero, fantasy hero/martial arts(Exalted types) horror, Sci fi, etc), campaign concerns with god levels, etc... Some samples would be okay but I'm not interested in  a whole book of just gods stats or myths from around the world.

  13. Is this the full list of books that were released as hardcover by Hero games for 6th edition?

    Hero System Vol 1&2

    Champions

    Champions Universe

    Villians 1-3

    Fantasy Hero

    Star Hero

    Did I miss any?

I know there are other hardcovers like AA's Strike force and Exinction Event but was just looking for those put out by Hero games.

    Thanks ahead of time.
