  1. Just curious if anyone's done an X-Men write-up. I would like to do a character similar to Colossus, using 250 and 150 disads. Not sure if it's possible. Thanks!
  2. Re: Re: Why Tolkein-ish? Actually, Lord Dunsany was the first "modern" fantasy writer. HIs works heavily influenced H.P. Lovecraft, and numerous others. I highly recommend you find some of his books and read them, they are still very good, even though they are something like 125 years old.
  3. It's probably just my prejudices showing through. I'm not a fan of flashy magic. I like the Merlin or Elrond type, where stuff happens, but isn't blatant. If you like the flashy stuff, you could try stuff like electrified, frost or flame blades, flying mages, soul-stealing blades, etc? Something akin to Exalted.
  4. I don't see Chaos Blades casting fireballs and such. I think they should get spells that enhance senses, increase attributes, possibly armor, speed enhancers, etc. Maybe some divinatory stuff, as well.
  5. Well, my write-up would be for a Batman-style game. You could always make the factories part of a VIPER base or something, if you want four-color.
  6. Never heard of that one. Now I'll have to look for it .
  7. A number of the old steel mills are currently being renovated. Some have already been turned into offices. There are some seriously big asbestos abatements going on down there. But they would make good places for bad guys to hide. Heck, maybe the mafia is using the abatement work as a front to hide the fact that they have counterfiting presses or heroin processing running in the buildings.
  8. Yup, I'm a serious Hammers fan . Same with Starship Troopers. Currently, I'm reading Armor by John Steakley, which is very much a bug-hunt book.
  9. Just curious if anyone has expanded on this particular sample system yet. I really like the idea behind it, and think it could be run kinda like Highlander. As for spells usable, I think I'd limit the effects to stuff like increasing damage, jumping, aid to different stats and maybe skills, etc. Is there any guideline for how long the Aid from killing another Chaos Blade lasts?
  10. I'm starting to get a bit impatient. The whole Alien Wars thing is my cup of tea. I think it can and probably will be a much cooler setting than Terran Empire. I'm assuming we can run around as Space Marine blasting xenos for all they're worth. Anyways, are there going to be hovertanks or anything similar in the book? I'm really hoping you go all out on military hardware for this.
  11. Just so you know, New Jersey is flat. It is almost all Coastal Plains. To get into the Appalachians, you need to go several hundred miles further west. (western PA, WV, western VA, western NC). Or maybe do the Adirondacks in NY, which are fairly close to the city (only a 100 miles or so away). \ But that's only if you have players like mine, who would point this out.
  12. The name of the "Name The Character" contest on Hero Games front page just happens to be Lady Liberty.
  13. Hey! That's what I was gonna say. Anyways, I'd recommend TS to everyone who has any interest in SF.
  14. Just saying, in case you didn't know. She's in Freedom City timeline.
  15. there are a number of options presented in the book. I really like the Chaos Blades version, and will probably incorporate it into my campaign. The only problem with the sample systems is that they only provide you with the bare basics. I'd love to see a book detailing each of them. For that matter, how would you define the power Chaos Blades get when they kill each other? I'm not too sure, though I suspect it is some kind of attribute enhancement with a long duration. Any ideas?
  16. More Undead. More Faerie races. Just about everything Shadowpup suggested . Small fast things that rip you apart before you can react. Examples of unexperienced, regular, veteran, and commander knights, mercs, guards, etc. As a side note, Beholders and Gnolls are copyright WotC, and are not in the D20 guide. They might not like you using them.
  17. Another couple recommendations: C. J. Cherryh Downbelow Station - seriously, if you haven't read this, go out and buy it right now! Jerry Pournelle Falkenberg's Legion
  18. My suggestion is don't limit yourself to the DnD races. Add in a few extras, including the obvious wolfen or cat-men, as well as a few oddities (insects, small fast reptiles like the T'sa from Alternity, etc.). And I'm a sucker for pricing guidelines, just how peasants are taxed, medieval warfare, the effects of magic on warfare, etc.
  19. You guys are forgetting what is quite probably the greatest Ninja website ever. It is very informative, and makes me want to flip out and kill people . http://www.realultimatepower.net
