  1. Re: June 2nd

September 31st? Is that between September 30th and October 1st? I always seem to miss that day?

I wonder if that is intentional. :sneaky:

(Kind of like a sly way of saying "It will be done when it is done.")

  2. Re: June 2nd

Okay' date=' now I really need to get serious about saving my pennies. Not only would I have to buy the game, but I would need a new PC, since I can't even get the beta to run on my system. :([/quote']

If he is, or was, he is violating the NDA. :( (And this would be an especially bad place to do it - Steve Long being a lawyer and all that.)

  3. Re: Long Time Heroes get any Beta chances?

You realise that anyone who received an invitation would be subject to the NDA, so couldn't discuss even getting an invitation. (b.t.w., I didn't get one either. :weep: )

"The first rule of Champions Online Beta is, you do not talk about Champions Online Beta." :hush:

  4. Okay, I might suggest that the next Iconic character be a heroine with a very different “personal style,” for example Witchcraft.

That would reassure women that both Mind Slayer and Witchcraft (If my idea is accepted) would be examples of what they can do.

While is it true that many have expressed concern about being “objectified,” I know that others (my RL wife for example) enjoy a very sexy look for their characters.

  5. Re: Mind Slayer

Scott Heine's "goth/punk" look for the character' date=' with a cigarette dangling from her hand, really defined Mind Slayer's personality IMHO. He essentially kept it for his updated picture of her in [i']Conquerors, Killers, And Crooks[/i].

And speaking of the redoubtable Mr. Heine:

Looks like he gets his wish. I'd love to hear Scott's opinion of the Cryptic version (hint, hint). :D

I don't know. I think meeting Mind Slayer in game might be a might . . . "unhealthy."

  6. Re: Mind Slayer

Anyone remember the original illo of Mind Slayer from the first Enemies book? No disrespect intended to Mark Williams' date=' whose character illos I mostly quite enjoyed; but just about anything would be a step up from that one.[/quote']

True. When she was revised in the Mind Games suppliment (1989 Scott F. Heine), she got a much better look.

(Still, Mark Williams's work for the original Champions was wonderful for most of the characters. :) )

  7. Re: The Ms Champions Universe contest

Of course' date=' that goes into the old subject of COM being damn near useless as a Characteristic or Special Power- unless you change the rules to make it work like the GURPS Attractiveness Advantage or the new HERO rules for positive Reputation Perk.[/quote']

Actually, I think that Comeliness should be handled as a Talent (much like it is in the GURPS rules) that actually impacts social skills more directly.

Right now Comeliness is kind of vaguely defined and kind of iffy when/how to use.

  8. Re: Justiciar is up

While I agree with Sapphire from among the heroines (essentially Jennifer Lopez with superpowers)' date=' I think [b']Cateran[/b] might be a better choice from the villainesses -- big, strong, swings a sword, and wears the world's shortest kilt. ;)

OTOH it's hard not to notice Howler's, um, assets for the job in her existing costume.

True. I was thinking Lady Blue because she is a more "grey" or borderline villian.

And if one were looking for something a little darker, Scorpia would also be a good choice. :fear:

(* - B.T.W., what I was meaning by "personality" is a very extroverted (and a little vain) female character. Witchcraft is certainly qualified for the "Marketing Babe," but her disposition and demeanor would be all wrong. )

  9. Re: Justiciar is up

Considering the travesty that is their track record thus far' date=' Sapphire, Witchcraft, and the other ladies would probably be better off if these clowns never touch them.[/quote']

I disagree. :shock:Champions Online needs their "Obligatory Marketing Babe!" (Virtually every Computer Game has one! Most P&P RPGs do to!)

Of the Iconics from the Champions Universe, I think that Sapphire (of the Heroines) or Lady Blue (of the Villanesses) would have the right personality*.

(* - While some feel that "personality" is not realy important for the "Obligatory Marketing Babe," my persoanl experiance is that it helps a lot over the long term life of the product.)
