  1. Re: Dumb Hero Having a character that is fun is a good thing but having one who is useless in combat is not so good... I want him to be able to take on superpowered bad guys... so tricking may be the, well... umm... trick. I will probably put him at a little over max normal human physical characteristics and load him up on combat and some skills. Figure out a sort of defence for him and I am all set! The advice given here is very helpful, thanks all... Has anyone here ever played the Baldur's Gate PC game? Well, my character's personality will be a mix of the BG character Minsc and the Tick...
  2. Re: Dumb Hero Thats a good idea I'm still a noob at tricking out a character tho...
  3. Re: Dumb Hero Nope. He gave us complete freedom regarding our characters. I told him it could be dangerous and explained to him about how some powers can be downright sick if you know what you are doing. He assured us that he could handle it. He has been a GM since 3rd edition came out (infact that is the edition we are using until everyone gets a copy of 5th/6th edition rules). I know how to build a character but I'm not good at 'tricking out' a character.
  4. Re: Executioner DMan would not approve. He is against killing but he really wouldn't mind beating him up....
  5. Re: Dumb Hero The GM is wanting us to create the characters without his assistance so we can 'surprise' him. My character is a very poor, stupid guy who makes up for lack of gadgets and superpowers by being lucky (dumb luck) aside from his fighting ability. Everyone else is a superpowered character but me. I wanted a normal, unlikely hero. I am worried about his defences though. Maybe going with a Damage Reduction. Being destitute I can't imagine him having armor or hi tech defences.
  6. Hi all. I am relatively new to Champions even though I played years ago I never got "good" at the game. I have an idea of a character but don't know the best way to build him. He is going to be dumb but pure good (think the Tick) but he isn't superpowered. He is just a retarded guy wearing a silly white costume he made from visiting the local Salvation Army Not SUPER strong but maybe a bit more than normal human max strength. Very quick and agile (for his size). Dumb and weak ego. Great wrestling and general comic book style fighting style. Lots of luck on his side. I know generally how to build him but I need to know how to make him able to take on superpowered bad guys without getting killed I was planning on giving him max physical characteristics, maybe a bit higher and average to low mental stats. I guess I am making a retarded Captain America of sorts. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
  7. Re: Would this require shapeshift I like this question. I was going to ask it myself...
  8. Okay folks, you helped me with my last character so now I am asking help with another. I don't know if this should be a multiform or not... I am working with 4th edition as my 5th edition book has not arrived yet, figured the conversion would be simple. Anyway, here is the layout for the character: Fire/heat wielding mutant. Her name is Flamestrike Most powers are used while in flame form. A couple will be in both forms. I know this will be expensive... Desolid (living flame) Change Environment hot/cold (both forms) High dex & speed (flame form) RKA (fire darts, charges & uses END...flame form) HKA (burning touch, useable in both forms) Flight (flame form) Immunity to heat ...Life Support (both forms) EB (heat blast useable in both forms) RKA ( Explosion, fireballs, flame form only) Damage Reduction (fire/heat only both forms) IR vision (both forms) Other little quirky abilities that may come with the control of heat/fire... Thanks in advance...
  9. Re: suppress 16d6 Suppress Comeliness
  10. Re: Brick skill levels Thats just sick! I did a throw/bounce/haymaker(uppercut) once on a Martial Artist teammate once (we had a little spat) and the resulting fall back to earth killed the poor guy... Bricks and other hand-hand guys are about all i'm good with at the moment...
  11. Re: Defenders of Ireland I like that better than the first....
  12. Re: Defenders of Ireland I do living history and one of my impressions is a Gaelic warrior fighting at the Battle of Clontarf...
  13. Re: In which Chad thanks those who probably will never read this. ....I'm gettin all choked up here. *sniff* *snif* Thank you Tim for being a useless friend. Useless but still the best friend I ever had. I would trust you with my money but not my life you screw up! I miss the old times, man... Thanks to BKS for being the original game master for us all and thank you for killing my cleric... Thanks to E. Gary Gygax for making me spend those thousands of dollars on gaming stuff (yeah, I had it all figured up once)... You started it all man. Thanks to Roach for playing even though you really didn't want to... Thanks to Tully for being the only solid Christian I knew who would still play D&D... Thank you Anita for being the only chick in school who would be geeky enough to game with us.... and for wearing those low-cut blouses...
  14. Re: Defenders of Ireland There was also another of the warrior class called a Kern. They weren't as high class as the Galloglaich. You could also have a water based character as Manannan MacLir was a water entity and there was the ancient foe Fomor, a race of giants with Balor being their king. I am impressed with your knowledge of Irish history and lore, Amadan...
  15. Re: Defenders of Ireland I'm not totally against stereotypes but they can be used too much. I live in Appalachis and have a hillbilly character who is a redneck martial artist (dirty infighting) and some really good stats. His weapon of choice is an axe handle (club). But I only have one hillbilly character... not four or five.
  16. Re: Defenders of Ireland How about Bog-Boy for a character?
  17. Re: Extraordinary Characteristic Rolls So... how much damage does the Mississippi do?????
  18. Re: Character dilemma (Armor-clad character) Oo... I like that idea.
  19. Re: Character dilemma (Armor-clad character) The armor doesn't manifest itself too fast for anyone quicker to get the jump on him. I just now had a thought of incorporating the 'spine' and the armor into the same item. The armor being housed in the 'spine' .....
  20. Re: Character dilemma (Armor-clad character) I haven't concentrated much on his background yet. He is a 'not-quite-so-good-guy' He fights on the side of good but with slightly questionable methods (not quite so questionable as the Punisher). He isn't rich but is extremely intelligent along the lines of a supra-genius but has built his toys on somebody elses budget and in other peoples labs. I plan to build his lab/base later. The armor isn't flashy looking, probably be a steel gray color. It will have flight (jet boots or jet pack), an EB and RKA. It will also have all the IR/UV vision type things. The exact abilities will be laid out when I get an idea how he is to be built and the cost.
  21. Re: Character dilemma (Armor-clad character) The 'spine' is almost impervious to harm and is only removable surgically (or maybe a really strong person ripping it off of him I'm not sure if it would be an OIF or not. The armor comes from 'seemingly' nowhere like Ra's armor from the Stargate movie and covers him in blinding speed, almost like an instant change. The big armor I got... just a vehicle. This character is starting to sound silly, lol.
  22. Hi. I'm new so don't haze me too bad. I'm fairly new to the game and I have a great (I think so anyway...) character idea but I don't know how to implement it. My character is a normal guy aside from the fact he is a genius along the lines of Tony Stark/Batman/Hank McCoy/Forge ... you get the idea. He is crippled but has a device attached to his spine which nullifies this. This device also gives him slightly enhances reflexes and the like... He has powered armor (think Ra from Stargate movie) with a few gizmos like weapons and flight and a nifty cool sensing helmet. He also has another armor which he can get inside of which is MUCH bigger (think Sentinels but not quite that big) with MUCH better gizmos. .... How can I do this? He also needs a name I thought "Box" but there is a Marvel character with the same name... Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...
