  1. Re: Master List of Limitations Congratulations and, thank you very very much for all of your hard work. Its greatly appreciated!
  2. Re: Teleportation, useable as an attack... I'm afraid I've broken my poor players. They never even suggest any powers that might seem in the slightest way abusive. Part of me is grateful but I'd also like to be challenged occasionally. The most I got was a fella slipping buy me with a passing strike and enough levels that the non-com OCV penalty wasn't a problem. The first time he hit someone for 24 dice....

    Not him!

I've run for different groups over time and one recurring bad guy I've used is the Archmage. He's a bit of a combo of Archimago and Acererak. The funny thing is, they only faced him once. A long running subplot was his agents here on earth taking steps to ensure that, at a certain time and day, he'd walk free from his prison in the Dead Dimension of Dread. He would terrorize their dreams, hound them with nightmares. And, I was able to take advantage of a PC who's player had to drop out for school reasons. They had journeyed to his Dimension by accident. To cow and impress them, he used the Petrification spell on the PC. "STONE!" he intoned and the PC turned into a statue, which he then shattered with his fists of bone and ragged flesh. They all blanched and ran for the exit. One of the characteristics of his Dimension, and of the dreams he sent, was that the ground was made of black sand, cold black sand. All I had to do was say: "You feel gritty sand under your feet, cold on your bare skin", and they'd freak. The PCs did manage to stop him from walking free.
  4. What is the average point build for your game? A 90 point VPP? 43 Dex, 9 SPD. I'm betting you guys had each of the individual members of Eurostar beat on total Character Points. If that's the case, I don't really see where there was any real challenge involved. IMO.
  5. The point is, since it was and is so clearly rigged, why even bother letting us think our votes mattered? Why not just say: Go to the discussion boards and discuss who you think should win. We'll announce our selection of the winner at the end of the month. Because it sure looks like that's what they did. I don't mind if its rigged. I just don't like having my intelligence insulted. "New game ties old game with huge fanbase based on votes! No, really! You don't think we'd make this up, do you? What are you, stupid?" No, I'm not. BTW, I'll probably pick up Reality Storm, but I already have the Time of Crisis module for a good example of how to do cross-universe, cross-time adventures. (Or Champions in 3-D....)
  6. I like that idea, Jm. I use it alot myself for teleporters or ridiculously tough bricks. DCV levels are a perfect way to simulate that attacks just don't affect their target. after all, you specify the special effect when you buy it. so, +8 DCV, usable on others, restrainable. Maybe multipower it so there's actual missle reflection and deflection too.
  7. Other Uses Steve, as I was reading this book I came to a realization: This book is too limited in its title. Because, in my opinion, I don't think this is just a superpowered Database. It should also be called the Fantasy Hero Spellbook. I mean, you have your colleges, you have your variants, and all of these 'powers' would make truly awesome spells. Thanks for a wonderful resource. I'm sure this will help no matter what genre I try to apply it in.
  8. I like some of the stuff going back and forth, especially the Iron Guard replacement. I'll change the name from Bronze Avenger to Iron Avenger, I'm thinking. They don't lead assault teams as a standard, in my game. The are like a state marshal, going statewide, overseeing investigations and operations, interfacing with local police and heroes and generally making Primus a good name to cops and supers alike. Well, and a more feared name amongst the small time supervillains that think they run a little one-horse town.
  9. Yesterday, I was posting to my online game as the GM and I wanted to have a Primus Agent at the meeting. I didn't have my Primus book handy and I also wasn't sure I wanted a full-fledged Silver Avenger at a police meeting in coastal Mississippi. So, I created, on the fly, a new level of Avenger, the Bronze. The idea is that the Bronze Avengers are one per state and are the top of the top, much like Silver Avengers. The difference? They are Avengers that, for one reason or another, are physically unable to use Cyberline. They are given a suit that gives them hardwire connections between a visor and their weapons, small gadget pool, and the suit is wired to improve their reaction time. A small bonus to Str as well. -I haven't decided whether the name I put on her badge, Bishop, is a codename or her lastname.. Anyway, I was wondering if adding this level to Primus messes with me using the stuff from the book too much? (She can't use Cyberline because she is allergic to it.) Also, any ideas for other reasons a body might reject Cyberline? I was thinking, Diabetic, Anemic, or even just genetically incompatable. Thoughts, Ideas, Suggestions?
  10. one of my players wanted someone like wolverine, so I used Fenris. Got rid of the damage reduction and he bought a boxing package. Dropped the reduced end on the claws and dropped the focus limitation. Worked very well.
  11. Any WIld Heart pics lying around?
  12. /me sings: "She's a brick and I'm drownin' slowly...."
  13. What were Wild Heart's Powers/Background, if I may ask?
  14. Hey! Its the guy from the Adventures series!! He was the one washing his face in the toilet in the cyberspace adventure. I've seen this guy in over a dozen drawings, I'm thinking. So kewl to finally know his name and powers. Thanks alot, Storn. Any details on the other members? Like the flying gal with the short black hair and the heart motif to her costume?
  15. edited. Flame bait. not necessary.
  16. Well, using the Champions Universe book, I've circumvented the registration act. Go to england, register in england where you are not required to divulge your secret identity, go back to the us and, as a registered super of a UN member nation, well, there you go.
  17. Well, Shelly, I don't think you saw the secondary problem that I mentioned. Making them like-superheroes but with a charming public identity smiling face is a bad thing, IMO. In my example, after Fenris killed off her family, how would the public view Sanchez? Object of pity? Sadness? Also, lets say it was a superpowered terrorist, ala Ember that she helped put away. He specializes in incendiary bombs. He blows up her car with her in it, killing her. Killing Silver Avenger Sanchez. A person with a public face. Thereby making Primus look vulnerable and making all the other Silver Avengers targets. At least with a code-name, costume, Primus could simply replace the person in the suit. Who knows how many different Silver Avenger Valkyrie's there have been? Does it really matter? All that matters is that there always will be one defending Millenium City. And, when she decides to retire and maybe have kids in her late thirties or so, the criminals never bother her or her small children ever. Just my 2 cents.
  18. I recently asked Storn, via PM, about the flying woman that appears in both Champions U and Millenium City. The one with the cape, gauntlets, and light colored hair. He said "..." He no-know. So, he suggested that I post in this thread and ask the assembled Herodom what they thought of the look of this character and any suggestions for her abilities or usage. He also mentioned that his GM was using her as a re-tooled updated design for Doc Sonic of the Protectors, but I don't feel that she's geeky enough for Doc S, myself. I was thinking, with the oddly stlyed bodysuit, how it seems to shimmer, maybe a solar-powered brick? Not enough female flying bricks, IMO. What are yer ideas?
  19. Can somebody explain to me why the decision was made to do away with the Secret Identities of the Silver Avengers? I liked the idea. In my game I gave them code names. So, if one of them died, well, they replaced them. Also, they fight super criminals. Some of them are petty, bloodthirsty, revenge-minded killers. To take an example, the one from Millenium City busts Fenris. Fenris gets out. Fenris kills her husband, mother, and heaven forbid, any children she has. Its a logical assumption. He's a killer. I recall an issue of an early nineties comic called the Protectors. A patriotic hero called Man-o-War is testifying at a senate committee. They ask why he wears a mask when police and federal agents don't. "With all due respect, Senator, their perpatrators and foes can't tear buildings down with their bare hands." Just my two cents. I couldn't ever wrap my head around doing away with the Secret Identity for these guys.
  20. I felt it was forced and trite. Much like how, in the original Champions Universe book, they say: "The Blood went home to their own world" and "Dr. McQuark went out of business". Excuse me? All except three of the Blood were born on earth, were costumed heroes, loved earth culture, GRAAARRGH! It became a running gag that the other players knew which CU was mine because the feedback page was one long rant about these two entries. So, what I'm saying, when you ditch a villain or character for a new edition, you're going to dissapoint some players will be dissapointed. As far as Meurte coming back, I thought the set up was perfect. They melted the suit around him and dumped him in the ocean? Neither of them have any skills to deactivate any signal devices or make sure that the life support was deactivated. Hell, they didn't even open up the armor and make sure it wasn't a robot. I used Meurte and Terror Inc as my Dark Champions level Dr. Destroyer. All that CKC did was mean I get to make new hench-villains for him and now his ego is fed because he was proven to be smarter than the dolts that worked for him.
  21. If he calls himself Adamant, does he have to wear make-up and dress like a highwayman, singing bad eighties pop? Oh, and when he makes his bid for power, is it an Adamant-ium?
  22. I love seeing Foxbat back. Fenris has become a favorite in play. The players hate him. BTW, I am really happy with the large number of 350 point characters. Until the UNTIL SUPERPOWERS DATABASE comes out, its nice to have 350 point characters for the players to peruse and/or use as a template. And I love Brainchild. He's just too kewl. Imagine, a villain that wants to make money by selling his gadgets rather than fighting the heroes. And I love the Adam Strange style costume.
  23. Thanks for all the replies, guys. You've given me alot to chew over. That's what makes these boards great: the wide array of opinions and knowledge to draw from. I think I agree with the 0 End requires Ego roll to keep from tapping out due to pain, bonuses for appropriate psych limitations. I understand about the joint break things that were mentioned, where its a choice of submission or a broken limb. That one does involve a conscious decision on whether to submit or not, I'm guessing. As far as a presence attack: Royce Gracie is a master of Brazilian Jiujitsu, in real life, btw, and is a very small man. He wouldn't have a high PRE, but I've seen him make huge guys, even Dan, The Beast, Severn, tap out on UFC matches. Maybe an ego roll if you take more stun than con from a single turn in the hold?
  24. But, alot of submission holds; armbars, crossfaces, boston crabs, would not make you go unconscious. There would reach a point where the pain would become unbearable. You can't 'refuse to give them the satisfaction' if the pain keeps building and building with no release.
