  1. Re: Your PCs might be overpowered if... Ahah, that cracked me up. GJ
  2. Re: Convention Help Fantastic thread. As an inexperienced GM with a game session coming up tomorrow, I am really glad I clicked this. You gave me some great ideas and invaluable insight. I particularly enjoyed mudpyr8's input, that is not to say the rest was not just as helpful. Thank you guys =).
  3. Re: Cosmic Centurions Wow, I think you guys just blew my mind Major Tom and Egyptoid. Amazing back stories and fantastic detail, you have the imaginations of master comic writers. This thread in general is fantastic, so much content and all with a original flavour. I love the angle that Egyptoid is running, great source material too =D
  4. Re: Multipower progression and a few other questions Fantastic as always fellas, I am always impressed by how fast the community replies with such helpful information. I was conflicted with some of the choices and you guys have cleared the mist hesitation and guided me to the temple of enlightened GM Thank you for your help, this community is the best I have had the pleasure of being a part of. My enthusiasm for the game grows every time I read a new thread, or start one.
  5. I have been reading through 6e and I cannot seem to find anything about this specifically, maybe I missed it. 1) If my PCs have 5Exp, what is to stop them just spending it on a 60ap move in their MP ? I am sure there is a rule for this, but I am unable to locate it and I figured you guys would have dealt with this before. 2) Oh, another question - one of my PCs wants to carry a small sword and a gun (He actually wants a lot of other stuff too, throwing knives etc) Should both weapons come under a "Weapons" MP or should I make him create separate MP's ? Or is VPP the way to go? I imagine VPP makes more sense, but I just want to know what you guys make of it. 3) I am trying to create a power that to weaken or strengthen an object (Non-organic) I imagine PD aid and drain is the best way to go about that? 4) I am also trying to create a lightning move that can enhance any attacks made with a metal object (Sword, crowbar etc) Should I create an aid with a custom limitation for "Only with conductive weapon" or maybe link a small blast to any attack made with a conductive weapon (But I think that would be too weak to pierce most armour, unless I make it a 2d6nnd) 5) How do you keep MPs in check. I was thinking of limiting the maximum amount of powers allowed per MP, one of my PCs is a Green Lantern style hero and he has a great deal of utility for very cheap. I think it may make the other players seem lacking if they watch him throwing Blast, Flash, RKA, AoE, Entangle, Blast with double KB, Blast with AF-5 and Barrier. Thanks for taking the time to read this, if I could get all my questions answered that would be fantastic, but I will be happy with any insight that you can provide =)
  6. Re: Un-Green Atlantis I like the angle, switching up the roles. Though I think the whole ecologically irresponsible thing is just based off reality =P We are pretty terrible as a species.
  7. I wanted a barrier that represented a growth character using a limb, or two, to protect his friends from harm. Is there a way I could link the move to use only the characters actual defense as the protection.
  8. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine I click to start and it loads, all the bars and options are there, but nothing actually appears in the white box, tried all the different buttons and what not, nothing happens.
  9. Re: A DC Animated-style HeroMachine It does not work on my PC =/ It loads the background, but not the character. Tried different browsers and updating flash too *sigh*
  10. Re: Idle Distraction: Super Webcomics Thank you all for the links, I can never find good webcomics, now I have a lot of them bookmarked
  11. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Those had me laughing pretty hard, great stuff, hopefully when my new campaign picks up, I can post some qoutes.
  12. Re: The Second Battle of Britain I have a long way to go, you guys seem to find inspiration for your games in every comment and thread. It is really quite amazing how creative people can be =). Oh, the user name is a nickname a Japanese friend of mine gave me. I knew it would probably not be picked and I was not in the mood to try more common names. Hmm, I like Behemoth for a growth character, though maybe a sound based name would be better. Resonance sounds good Try not to get me killed too much, I am quite touched you would add a random forum noob to your campaign heh.
  13. Re: The Second Battle of Britain Definetely growth powers! Though I am also a fan of sonic powers too Please someone arrange an invasion of Earth and the destruction of Cardiff for Xmas, I want super powers!
  14. Re: The Second Battle of Britain Please don't, I rather like my house not on fire and not reduced to rubble and dust. I also prefer myself to alive, it has become a lifestyle for me. Becoming a slave to an alien overlord, would also inconvenience me =\
  15. Re: Champions Villans Vol. 1: Master Villains I was wondering how this stacked up, I have conquerors, killers and crooks. I found that book very good for villain write-ups. I appreciate the review, seems it is worth the cost, but it is nothing spectacular; just what was expected?
  16. Re: Negative Man (Doom Patrol) Old Man In A Closet? Ahaha That is golden. I like the chi angle a lot, I sometimes wish I was a player and not the GM
  17. Re: Negative Man (Doom Patrol) Wow, you provided far more information than I had first anticipated from starting this thread. Thank you Rex Don't go converting the character on my behalf, though I will definetely be using it if you do decide to post the writeup. I loved Larry in Doom Patrol, I really like the idea of a risk/reward character (Neg is powerful, but Larry ends up completely vulnerable while he is summoned) Maybe I will use him to play in as a npc with my PC's from time to time
  18. Re: Negative Man (Doom Patrol) I found a decent 250 build of Negman http://www.sysabend.org/champions/gnborh/text/Negative_Man-tlm.txt Seems like a simple idea (Desol as the extra form. Not sure it is really the correct way of doing things, but seems simpler than multiforn or summon) The player has written up a Marrow style character while I was trying to do the Negman character, I will show him some of this and let him make the choice =)
  19. Re: Negative Man (Doom Patrol) I am currently using 6e, I am not great with the character creation. Some concepts turn out nightmarish when you get down to actually creating their powers and restrictions. My players tend to give me a simple idea and then complicate it so much that I have to say "Either siplify it or you have to create it alone" Not in a nasty way or anything, I just get fed up of spending hours trying to figure things out and then realising they don't work out as I, or the Player, would have liked. The suggestions are great =). If anyone does stumble across a NegMan style character that can be updated to 6e without too much frustration, please send it to me.
  20. Re: Negative Man (Doom Patrol) Thank you for the input, I really appreciate it. The Hero systems community is it's greatest asset, everyone is always so helpful =) I do believe I can sort something out now, my player will be pleased. (I tried to build Negative Man in the past and ended up with that problem Assault, not really knowing exactly what he should be able to do etc)
  21. I searched and searched for a build that would be similiar to his powers and I had very little success. One of my players wants a Negative Man style hero, with the limitations that he is unable to pass through solid objects, but he is able to fit through small gaps by stretching his astral/spirit projection. (I figure the limitation will help, since desoldification tends to be a headache for GMing ) I am not that experienced with GMing, so please keep replies as simple as possible hehe.
  22. If you are unfamiliar with their abilities, they are the same as their namesake - Inducing vertigo in one or more people. DC In hand-to-hand and melee combat, Vertigo uses his power to disorient his opponents. He also uses the Vertigo Effect to disrupt the aim of gunmen, snipers and the like. Marvel ..the superhuman power to project waves of psionic energy into her environment which affect the nervous systems of other living beings, distorting their physical perceptions. This power induces effects ranging from mild disorientation and vertigo to unconsciousness. Extracts are from Wikipedia articles. Using HD what is the best way to create a power that would do this?
  23. Re: Build to Concept Champions I think that is a very interesting idea, though the difference in power levels could be a problem eventually. You inspired me actually, I was thinking of doing something similar by getting my players to write up different powers they find appealing, everything from strength to elasticity, super speed to fire powers. I would then put them in a box and pick them out randomly at certain moments in the game, thus imbuing one of the players with a new power that he would not expect. I think it is really interesting and I would have them make different rolls for attack powers to throw them off until I see fit for them to 'Get their power under control' I think this randomized style sticks to the comic books in terms of power manifestation. I guess balancing is important and it is then up to the GM to moderate the characters, nothing wrong with one player being a little more powerful than the other members, as long as the others can bring utility to the team. A one-man show is boring .
  24. What books are being used for 5th edition revised, Champions books I mean. I have a bunch of older ones off my friend and some seem too old to be of any use now. So a list of what books are valid for use right now.
  25. Re: Timeline Oh, thanks for the information, I will definitely check that out!
