  1. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Looking at some footage of U2 in concert on their recent tour. Particularly these videos of "Unknown Caller" and "Magnificent", two of my favorite tracks from their recent"No Line on the Horizon"
  2. Re: Screenshots A few nice background shots of Stronghold and a radar installation. 6.jpg[/img] Tomorrow's the last day of beta, so we'll see if we can't get some shots of the special event in Millennium City.
  3. Re: Screenshots I's produced by a "save" on the tailorscreen. A print screen on the same scren will give you a wallpaper effect. Also, experimented with the screenshot_ui_jpg command to take a shot with the dialogue box up, and a second shot with bloom off and anti-aliasing and outlining on. Finally, a picture of Grond after he's one-shotted me and turned his back as if I was never there.
  4. Re: Screenshots Clearly I'm addicted to character generation. Here's my pulp hero, Billy Deighton of the Canadian Rocket Brigade. Those familiar with the campaign write-ups may not recognize him with a shirt on. He needs a Maple Leaf (or Red Ensign) insignia, but I'll add that if I ever get a chance to remake him when the game goes online. Three views:
  5. Re: Screenshots Great job on Yumi! Here's a few more environment shots, and a screenshot containing the likeness of a certain cartoon villain.
  6. Re: Screenshots Had to post it here, even if no one will (or should) really care. What's the significance of this? The guy that Thundrax is talking to is Mark Derringer, the former superhero Avenger. Avenger is Steve Sloane's old PC. We created them back in 1983 for Brian Zomar's old SUNDER campaign. So, over 25 years later, I have the surreal experience of being introduced to my old teammate for the first time.
  7. Re: Screenshots A few more environment shots. Thundrax vs. the Mutants Thundrax has a gift for Gigaton Bumping into other heroes (the guy on the left is a pretty cool looking Anubis.)

    Test

    Nothin' to see here.
  9. Re: Screenshots A few more, some tooling around with the character creator: Deathdealer Dan Justice Qodesh Thundrax flying over the desert Lady Jade Thundrax fighting in the desert I'll add some more if I get any decent action screenshot grabs or environments.
  10. Re: 6E Rules changes confirmed so far If I had to guess, the current top three would be: WOTC FFG Paizo with White Wolf solidly in 4th place and SJG a fair ways back.
  11. Sample screenies. I hope they're useful; feel free to add your own. the interface was present when I took the grabs but seems to have been removed from the captures. I'll look into it further and see what I can do. Thundrax in Millennium City Against the Qularr Canada. I'll add some more if I get any decent action screenshot grabs or environments.
  12. Re: 6E Rules changes confirmed so far My experience was that the first few years of Champions was big -- not huge, like D&D (but then no one was), but a big title that commanded its market niche for many years. The spin-off games such as Espionage, Justice Inc., and Fantasy Hero made a relatively small impact cmpared to early Champions.
  13. Re: Gestalt: Architects of Change: What Would *You* Like to See Well, there's good news and bad. Bad. It's not done yet. Good. I'm on the final major section. Having finished the Tyranny League, I'm now on the major scenario "Purification", the Eiko invasion of Earth. Bad. I have no idea when I'll finish that section. It's a big, important scenario, and I want to do it right. Good. The book will also have an index. Bad. The index is not even started. Good. I've talked to Storn, and we've come to preliminary arrangements about using the art he did for Death Tribble (who has also approved). Thanks to the generous donations of a couple of people, Dave's lined up an artist for some other pieces, so we should have at least a few character illos. No decision on the title yet. I added a few characters: on the villain side, Bravura, Weng Chiang and her Combat Knights, and on the hero side, the ATF's Big Red More might be added to fit the page count (even though it's a PDF, I'm trying to keep to the "multiples of 16" page rule in case the book goes to POD.) I'm running at 193 pages so far; I expect it may come out to 224 when everything's come in. After that, the M&M conversions and that version. And, if I perceive any significant interest, a HERO6 revision of the main book.
  14. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? Harry Patch - Radiohead.
  15. Re: Sixth Edition Showcase #6: Defense Powers Armor and force field collapsed into one sensible power? Finally? Oh Steve, I could kiss you right now.
  16. Re: What Are You Listening To Right Now? The soundtrack to "Descent to Undermountain". Ironically, given it's from one of the worst CRPGs of all time, it's a really great score.
  17. Destroyer's sneaky lieutenant, as presented by Cryptic. http://champions-online.com/villains/rakshasa
  18. Re: Sixth Edition Showcase #3: Area Of Effect And Damage Shield Looks really good in theory. The devil (or the angel) will be in the details. I liked the page sample. It's not an especially fancy layout, but it's extremely clean and the power description was clear, consise, and unambiguous. Well done.
  19. Re: Top 5 Favorite 5E Supplements 1. Sidekick 2. Pulp Hero 3. DEMON 4. Hudson City: The Urban Abyss 5. USPD 1&2. Honorable mention to Vibora Bay, CKC, Post Apocalypse Hero, UMA, Lucha Libre Hero, Shades of Black, and anything with my name on it.
  20. Re: Gestalt: Architects of Change: What Would *You* Like to See Just a quick update. Mulling over titles, the latest draft is entitled Gestalt: The Fury Beyond, which is meant to be a little more compatible with "The Hero Within", our first book's title. Like? Dislike? The draft of the HERO system version is nearing completion: I've got the Tyranny League to do, then the invaion scenario to finish, plus a couple moe Eiko constructs and ships, then indexing and proofing. There's still quite a bit of work, and then the Superlink version awaits. I'll be talking with Dave about art resources after the 4th of July weekend holiday is done. Hopefully we'll have at least a few pieces in the final book.
  21. Re: Sixth Edition Showcase #1: ACV And AVAD It boils down to two questions: 1. Can an AVAD be applied against something with a non-numerical defense, provided the "all or nothing" limitation is also applied? (That is, do situational actions satisfy the definition of "alternate defense") 2. If not, can the "all or nothing" limitation be applied to a power separately of an AVAD? If the answer to either of these is "yes", then there's no problem. If they're both "no", either another mechanism needs to be present to enable it (be it a kludge or something more elegant) or the character designer will have to learn to live without situation-based "all or nothings". Other than that concern (which I'm more than willing to house rule if needed), this looks great. A logical correction of a long-standing problem with the system.
  22. Re: Sixth Edition Showcase #1: ACV And AVAD Looking over Prestidigator's examples, I suppose you could kluge it by defning the defense as "rED when not insulated" or "rPD when throat is protected", I do hope. however, that the solution Steve presents will be more elegant than that.
  23. Re: Open Beta in Mid-August? We can hope. Especially since I haven't heard back on my application to the closed beta.
  24. Re: Lairs Trailer I generally liked what I saw. The voice acting is a different story, but hopefully that's not final, or they can be persuaded to use some different talent.
  25. Another character from one of the more obscure corners of the Champs U. Interesting to see how the world's being fleshed out. http://champions-online.com/node/80033
