Cpt.Storm
Re: Christopher Reeves This was very sad news. He's done so much for stem cell research and he was coming so far with his own therapy. It's a shame that a bedsore took his life the way it did. The world is a little less bright today... Trebuchet
Re: Christpher Reeves Christopher Reeves showed me that glasses really can disguise a superhero. The classic scene in Superman II where Clark Kent takes off his glasses, straightens up and expands his chest and somehow just becomes Superman was wonderful. I didn't agree with much of his politics, but he faced his tragedy with enormous dignity and courage, and I certainly admire him greatly for that. He really was a hero in the most meaningful sense of the word.
nexus
Re: Christpher Reeves I was really surprised by how down this news made me. It just seems to show the world just ain't fair... Rest in Peace, Christopher Reeve.

Killer Shrike
Re: Christpher Reeves Yeah, I was suprised by how bummed it made me too. Class act. RIP.
Brandi
Re: Christpher Reeves It was a terrible shame. I think most people were pulling for him to beat this thing, even though the odds were so bad. (Teeny nitpick: his last name is Reeve. The Superman with the pluralized last name was George Reeves from the 50s TV show.)

Like Trebuchet, I didn't agree with much of his politics, but I do consider him a class act and had been pulling for him to overcome his injury. The world would have been much brighter had he succeeded, or even if he had failed but continued into old age.
BobGreenwade
Re: Christpher Reeves And by the way, while we're being nitpicky about names: "Reeves" isn't pluralized, it's possessive -- a Welsh patronym, "Son of Reeve."

Ghost who Walks
Re: Christpher Reeves Has not been a good year. People in the spotlight die, and those that follow them don't seem to shine the same way. As for stem cells, its the issue that finally convinced me which way to vote. It was the only thing that might actually change with an election.
