Burrito Boy
I also noticed they didn't mention that the Displacer Beast was inspired by the Coeurl from A.E. Van Vogt's short story "The Black Destroyer". tkdguy
Bazza
That second link is fantastic. I already knew a lot of the influences on D&D but there are things in that list that I'd never heard of before. Thanks. Kinda wonder, though, why Stormbringer isn't mentioned in the bit about cursed swords. The first section in the second link is Appendix N of the DMG in AD&D 1E. Also, while Balor was a name change from Balrog, it comes from Irish Mythology. Balor of the Evil eye was a king of the Fomorians, and he could kill anyone by gazing at them. He was killed by Lugh of the Long Hand. I also noticed they didn't mention that the Displacer Beast was inspired by the Coeurl from A.E. Van Vogt's short story "The Black Destroyer". The person who compiled or is storing the web page's email address is rgfdfaq@yahoo.com so feel free to email him any suggestions corrections. Although a comment on his home page says: Other FAQs Literary Sources of D&D (Updated rarely, when I have time) TSR & WotC Font FAQ (Updated rarely, when I have time) So maybe he already knows, and hasn't updated it, or he doesn't know. Suggestion, try anyway. tkdguy
