Killer Shrike
Hi all, Im putting together a collection of generic Vigilante \ Criminal adventure formulas / templates / scenarios, which will eventually be presented on my MetaCyber site. Ill probably also throw together a random plot generator as well to help GM's get going. So, Im putting out an open call for examples. The idea is to keep it generic, reusable, and of course modular. Looking forward to your collective responses....
Chris Bloxham
Re: Gritty Vigilante \ Criminal Adventure Formulas Just scanning the MC site which is v.good by the way, I dunno, corporate espionage (obtaining information by stealth, violence, blackmail) trade in fallen metahumans (corporations will pay good money to open up a dead meta' and see how he ticks, one step closer to an invincible army! ) attempting to stop a cyber body parts chopshop where people are being murdered for their tech arms deals (weapons, cyberware, nano/bio/chem weapons) I'm not sure if I am on the right line even so stop me if it's wrong Chris

Chris Bloxham
Re: Gritty Vigilante \ Criminal Adventure Formulas Ok then.. Arms runs for corporation funded wars in third world countries "Influencing" said dictatorships/governments to buy arms and equipment from your employer (a more specific Corp Espionage) There is so much that falls under corporate espionage it is just a case of getting more specific... Korvar
Re: Gritty Vigilante \ Criminal Adventure Formulas Someone else has done some corporate espionage and unknowingly has some Bad Tech that either has to be retrieved before it is unleashed, or has been unleashed and now must be contained. Can start off as a simple retrieval operation, with the players only finding out partway through how bad the thing they're retrieving is. Stumbling upon a conspiracy. A simple datatheft / murder investigation leads to becoming embroiled in the machinations of huge corporations / governments.
Zindil
Re: Gritty Vigilante \ Criminal Adventure Formulas Kill the snitch/ get even- Someone sent NPC X to prison, and now X wants revenge. The snitch hires the PC's to act as bodyguards. Drug wars- Two local gangs get into a fight over territory. The PC's could be part of one of the gangs or hired by locals to stop all of the collateral damage. Framed- Someone framed one of the PC's for a murder of a local crime lord's son. The players then have to worry about catching who did the framing and preventing retaliation from the crime lord.
Robyn
Re: Gritty Vigilante \ Criminal Adventure Formulas Replenishing the character's resources. They're starving, they can't get a job, and they're morally opposed to stealing. Well. Some of them are.
Korvar
Re: Gritty Vigilante \ Criminal Adventure Formulas Who's got the button? Someone - not the PCs, but known to them - has stolen something, and in desperation hides it in the home of one of the PCs without telling them. The PCs have to deal with the retrieval team, while working out what the hell they're looking for, where it came from, and what to do with it. Korvar
Re: Gritty Vigilante \ Criminal Adventure Formulas Some bad drugs are making the rounds - people are ending up dead. Who's selling this stuff, and why? In a similar vein, someone is tainting medicines or food in supermarkets or drugstores. Who? Why? People are being "encouraged" to leave certain apartment buildings. Is it as simple as a real estate scam, or is there something about these buildings? A cop's been killed. Now the Blue is cracking down on the neighbourhood like nobody's business, causing no end of trouble. Will they stop if the real killer is found, or is there another agenda? RIOT! Things have been going badly in the city, and then one last incident pushes everyone over the edge. In the chaos, scores are going to be settled, and agendas pursued. It's the perfect opportunity to get things done, or perhaps the nightmare situation to protect the people you care about.

Basil
Re: Gritty Vigilante \ Criminal Adventure Formulas Killer diller: Someone new has shown up, claiming to be a vigilante, out to clean up the streets. But the death toll mounts way to fast, and it's soo clear s/he is just a psycho killer, using "vigilante" as an excuse. The cops are out in force, the newsies are screaming, and every "proper" vigilante is feeling the heat. Complications include: the killer is a cop, the killer is a racist (or hates the poor or some other group), there's more than one killer, and the killer is trying to prod the cops and/or courts to be more active by showing how easy it is for a killer to get away with it. This place is a dump: A company (or more than one) is dumping toxic waste, medical waste, or what-have-you in a neglected part of the city. For awhile, there was no problem. Now, however, the stuff is seeping into more travelled areas. No place where anyone "important" lives/works/travels, but it the news is starting to get around. And so are the people infected with whatever-it-is.
Savinien
Re: Gritty Vigilante \ Criminal Adventure Formulas Jayne - "Why did we order a dead guy?" Past contact/DNPC of PC puts himself in suspended animation and sends himself to PC for proper burial. Why is the person from the past trying to be dead? Who is after him? What did he do? Korvar
Re: Gritty Vigilante \ Criminal Adventure Formulas Serial Killers. Everyone loves serial killers. But are these deaths what they seem? Is someone using them to cover something else up? Possibilities: a corporate hit team or freelance assassin is using the murders as a blind to hide bodies in plain sight. There are two killers (or killer teams) - competing with each other by proxy. Someone else is behind this all - this so-called serial killer is just a pawn. Korvar
Re: Gritty Vigilante \ Criminal Adventure Formulas High Noon: Someone Big in the criminal world is about to leave jail after 10 years behind bars. He wants what's his, and the people who have been running things in his absence don't appear to want to give it back. A confrontation is brewing, and people are choosing sides. Trouble is brewing, and all it could take is a spark...
