lynnlefey
A week or so ago, I posted an idea I had for a project called 'The Unofficial Handbook to the Champions Universe'. It looks like this project is going to move from theory to reality. So now, I would like to make a request for character submissions. I'm looking for 18 characters. I'm hoping for about an equal mix of heroes and villains. These characters will then be drawn by up-and-coming comic artists, colored, and put into a print-on-demand comic book, similar to 'The Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe'. Since this is a small project coming out of my own pocket, there isn't any pay for your hard work, but you will get a file from me with the final colored character pic. I am looking for 5th Edition Revised characters built on 350 points. PLEASE make my life easier and make your character in Hero Submissions Character Sheet format (RTF file). Background writeup should be about 500 words. Sorry but that's all the more space I can afford. You may include a URL for additional info. You may include a written description of your character, or any other form of character sketch you have, like HeroMachine. These will be used for reference by the final artists. If you're dead set on your art being used for the final, this can most likely be arranged. All creators will be creditted for their characters in the final product. You may include an e-mail for contact purposes to be included in the table of contents. If you are interested in submitting, please send an e-mail to me at lynnlefey@hotmail.com I think that about covers everything.

Ghost Archer
Re: Calling All Heroes! So what exactly is 'print on demand'? Its that the same thing as a PDF?
lynnlefey
Re: Calling All Heroes! Patriot: They have to be YOUR character, if that clarifies. Ghost Archer: PDF is a file format. Print on Demand is a term used for products that are available in hard copy, upon request. In other words, I wouldn't send this off to a printer for a run of (for instance) 2000 units. I would simply compile the files, and send it to a print-on-demand service, who would print a copy for anyone who requested it. Hope that clears that up. Great Beyond
Re: Calling All Heroes! PLEASE make my life easier and make your character in Hero Submissions Character Sheet format (RTF file). So is that an export function on Hero Designer that I've just not found yet, or is that another program all together?
Patriot
Re: Calling All Heroes! Well, what about Heroes and Villians that are more them 350? 600? 1200? 1925? And Can I put a link to my brothers book in with any heros I throw in?
lynnlefey
Re: Calling All Heroes! Great Beyond: Yes, it's an export option for Hero Designer. Patriot: While I'd like characters at 350 points, I will consider more powerful ones, particularly solo villains. However, I'd really like to focus for now on 350 point stuff. If the heroes in question are related to the product in question, then I supose so, but I'm not doing this as an ad for another product. Name Tamer: Thanks for the link. Great Beyond
Re: Calling All Heroes! Great Beyond: Yes' date=' it's an export option for Hero Designer.[/quote'] Ok, I think I found it. It's http://www.herogames.com/FreeStuff/Hero%20Designer/export%20templates/RTFSubmission.zip right? Sorry for being such a n00b about this, but I dont get a chance to play with Hero Desinger as much as I'd like.
lynnlefey
Re: Calling All Heroes! GB... no problem. I thought in putting this project together that I'd get flooded with Character submissions and have to scramble to get artists involved, when in fact, it's been the exact opposite. After one request on Digital Webbing, I have 11 artists interested in getting involved, and have yet to hear from anyone wanting to submit characters. If you want to submit a character, but the character isn't yet complete, please let me know, so I at least have an idea of level of interest. Thanks, all. Susano
Re: Calling All Heroes! Do these have to be set in the Champions Universe? And can they be less than 350? I have some nice 250-300 point characters.
aylwin13
Re: Calling All Heroes! Hey there, lynnlefey. I have a 350 pt character that I'd love to see "published". I've been editing her background from about 1300 words (that doesn't even include the intro short story that I wrote ) to something close to 500. It might be a tad more. I'll try to get the files tweaked and e-mailed this evening.

lynnlefey
Re: Calling All Heroes! Susano: They do not need to be tied to official Champions history/settings. I'll look at characters in the 250-300 point range, but I'd prefer standard starting superhero point levels. Aylwin13: I've considered already that 500 words is pretty short, which is why I'm allowing folks to stick a URL with their character for a more complete history and writeup. Hope this clarifies things.

lynnlefey
Re: Calling All Heroes! Contributors retain ownership of their characters. I'm only asking for permission to use them in this book, and possibly on a web site connected with the book. All contributors will be creditted i nthe table of contents for their submissions. You can include contact e-mail or URL with your name if you wish. Hope that clarifies things.
