Diamond Spear
Am I costing this right? 4d6 Aid = 40 points +2 Advantage – Any power or characteristic = 120 points -1/2 Limitation Succor = Final cost of 80 points
Lord Liaden
Re: Did I do this right? Well, you were doing fine up to "Any Power or Characteristic," assuming you wanted all possible Powers and Characteristics of a given Special Effect to be raised simultaneously, with one application of Aid. If you only want to raise each of them one at a time, that's only a +1/4 Advantage. There is no "Succor" Limitation, though. Succor is a optional variant of Aid. It raises attributes the same way as Aid, but costs 5 points per 1d6, costs END to use, and is a Constant Power whose effects only last as long as the character continues to expend END. Yes I wanted the power to be able to raise any power or characteristic the character chose but only one at a time. So he could say raise another character's fire-based energy blast on one phase and raise another character's DEX the next phase, and another character's ice-based armor on his third phase. Thanks for the correction about Succor. So it would be 50 points total for 4d6 of aid, any power or characteristic one at a time?

Diamond Spear
Re: Did I do this right? Well...any one of a SFX...it might cost extra for such a broad list as "Da Book"... The reason I went with +2 is because it is a power that can boost ANY Characteristic or Power (one at a time) regardless of special effect. Is +2 to high of an advantage for a power like that? [caveat]Without looking at the book[/caveat] I believe there is a chain for multiple special effects, just like being able to change more than one ability at a time, and I think "any SFX" is +2. Any one power/characteristic of a single SFX is +1/4. Adding the two together would result in a total advantage of +2 1/4.

If it's already +2 for ANY SFX then why is the +1/4 one power/characteristic of a SINGLE SFX necessary? It seems like the +1/4 advantage is redundant. It seems like the +1/4 advantage is redundant. As I read it, the "more SFX" advantage is only intended to be taken on abilities already enjoying the advantage of being able to use on multiple abilities of the same SFX. Normally, your Aid would affect a single ability. For +1/4, it can affect any single ability of a single SFX. You can then apply the "multiple SFX" advantage to increase the number of SFX you can affect. At the +2 level, that advantage allows you to affect any SFX. The +1/4 is not redundant, but the +2 is only relevant if you have at least that +1/4 advantage allowing multiple abilities to be affected. ghost-angel
Re: Did I do this right? Variable Effect: +1/4 allows any one SFX, one Power/Characteristic at a time. +1/2 allows any one SFX, two Powers/Characteristics at a time. +1 allows any one SFX, four Powers/Characteristics at a time. +2 allows any one SFX, all Powers/Characteristics simultaneously. Variable Effect, Multiple SFX: +1/4 can adjust two SFX, one at a time +1/2 can adjust two SFX simultaneously +1 can adjust four SFX simultaneously +2 can affect all SFX simultaneously. If you want to Adjust everything, all at once, no matter what it is. +4. If you want to Adjust everything under a single grouping (Fire Powers, Physical Characteristics, whatever the GM allows you to get away with as "one SFX") +

Hugh Neilson
Re: Did I do this right? I must have mis-read his question. Do you think I could get a GM to let that fly? Considering that 1d6 Aid now costs 40 points and still fades at 5 points (from every enhanced ability) per turn, I don't think it's hugely overpowered. How many points do you have to spend? And of course - if you're in a game with an AP Cap set to the standard 60, you can Aid a maximum of 6 points to a whole lot of things. I doubt I'd find that 6 points unbalancing

Mad Fnorder
Re: Did I do this right? I was trying to think of an SFX that would work on a +4 Aid.
