Re: Pulp Hero Binding

I haven't had any issues with my Hero books coming apart.

They're perfect bound, though, so they're pretty easy to fix. If just a few pages are coming out, put them back in place (making sure they are firmly in place) and iron the spine. It might not be a bad idea to use a towel in between the book and iron to keep it from getting too hot. Once it's hot enough, the glue will melt and everything will go back together.

If the cover's come off and the pages are coming out in chunks, you'll need to arrange the pages properly, spread some fresh hot glue (regular old craft store hot glue is pretty much what the printer uses), put the cover back on, and iron the hell out of it.

I've put quite a few books back together this way, and it works every time.

How ingeeeeenious! I wish I had known that when my 4th edition Champions book started to disintegrate. Instead, I went to an office supply store and bought a butt-load of page protectors (according to my Little Black Book of Useful Knowledge® that's two hogsheads' worth of page protectors ;)) and a large D-ringed binder. I then carefully removed all the pages from the Champions books and inserted them, in order, into the binder using the page protectors. Not only did I impress my friends with my ingenuity, but I could open the book to a specific page without it trying to close itself again.

LOL, that's exactly what I did. I got a binder with clear pockets on the outside and inserted the front and back covers, too. :D

Re: Pulp Hero Binding

I've done the binder thing in the past (4th edition Champions) but that just made it sooooo much bugger and more difficult to carry. Especially if you are carrying multiple books. It is nice and neat, but it doesn't make travel better.

I used to do the same thing. Especially the books like Beastiary. When I ran a game I didn't carry the entire book, just the pages I needed in a couple binders. I do the same thing in building a binder with just the stuff I need for game, but I do so by printing pages from the PDF.

Re: Pulp Hero Binding

Mine's been through a good amount of abuse (not nearly as much abuse as Post-Apocalyptic Hero and 5ER - both of which have been through the ringer) and hasn't come apart at all.

Probably always a few in the printing process that aren't perfectly done up.

When my 4th Edition hardcover started to fall apart I contacted Hero Games (pre-Steve Long ownership) and they had me return the book and they replaced it with a brand new one! They also did the same thing for two other members of my gaming group.
