YES. AS PRACTICE. YOU HAVE TO START OUT LEARNING TO BELIEVE THE LITTLE LIES.

"So we can believe the big ones?"

YES. JUSTICE. MERCY. DUTY. THAT SORT OF THING.

"They're not the same at all!"

YOU THINK SO? THEN TAKE THE UNIVERSE AND GRIND IT DOWN TO THE FINEST POWDER AND SIEVE IT THROUGH THE FINEST SIEVE AND THEN SHOW ME ONE ATOM OF JUSTICE, ONE MOLECULE OF MERCY. AND YET—Death waved a hand. AND YET YOU ACT AS IF THERE IS SOME IDEAL ORDER IN THE WORLD, AS IF THERE IS SOME...SOME RIGHTNESS IN THE UNIVERSE BY WHICH IT MAY BE JUDGED.

"Yes, but people have got to believe that, or what's the point—"

MY POINT EXACTLY.”

Trump has threatened the media for not being friendly to him, has praised Putin for killing journalists, praised China for Tienanmen Square, announced that he's going to start trade wars with Mexico, China and Japan, suggested that American Muslims should be barred from returning to the United States, commented that he couldn't alienate his followers even if he started shooting people in the street, openly supported the routine use of torture, and reacted to two guys beating up a homeless man in his name by saying his followers are "very passionate" and "want this country to be great again".

"Because we do not know when we will die we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well and yet everything happens only a certain number of times and a very small number really.

How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, an afternoon that is so deeply a part of your life that you can't even conceive of your life without it. Perhaps four or five times more? Perhaps not even that.

How many more times will you watch the full moon rise, perhaps twenty, and yet it all seems so limitless"

- Brandon Lee, quoting Paul Bowles 'The Sheltering Sky' prior to his death in The Crow.
