tkdguy
Re: Henschel-Wegmann Train No love for this one? This would be great for a spy game or a murder mystery. Yes, I know they've been done before.
Escafarc
Re: Henschel-Wegmann Train My first thought was how cool it is that they didn't scrap it like they would of done here in the states.....you know because it's old and doesn't have 4G. There are a few steam trains left in the USA. I don't know if they run regularly or only on special occasions.
DusterBoy
Re: Henschel-Wegmann Train I have much love for this. All done up and in full cry it would have been a thing of wonder and beauty. Such a shame that they've been relegated to the scrap heap.

Barton
Re: Henschel-Wegmann Train Steam trains DO run in the USA. Very few and for tourist and special events. Saw the largest Union Pacific steam engine built run in Chicago it was built in 1943. It is run only for special events, steam is a PAIN. Steam engines requires lots more labor, very high level of cleaning and lubrication, and the boilers can if not handled properly explode. Cancer
Re: Henschel-Wegmann Train If you go down to Lewiston, ID, there's a 3 truck Heisler engine standing in park right on the main drag. It isn't running (it's a stationary show piece). The power is delivered from the drive shaft to the wheels via a set of bevel gears, and is intended for low speed, high load and steep track operations. Not so cool-looking as the one this thread is dedicated to, but if you get there you can see walk up to the machine.
