Psychological Multiform?

I am working on a character that is sort of a cross between Iron Man/Tony Stark and Batman/Bruce Wayne. In his secret ID he is the Tony Stark style Scientist and in his hero ID he is a violent Batman-esque type. There are skills that when in costume he would not use... maybe more than would not, possibly even COULDnot use. The background is not finalized, but it may go as far as being a split personality.

Is the idea of a multiform based on psychological factors valid? I originally was thinking of using lockout to prevent him from using certain skills while in costume, but I think that multiform would be more elegant.

What do you think, multiform or lockout?

Re: Psychological Multiform?

IIRC (very possible I don't), applying a Limitation (like Lockout) to a skill turns it into a Special Power, which prevents it from getting the STAT/5 "base", leaving it at just 9- before buying it up further. Using Mutiform would avoid that.

Re: Psychological Multiform?

Both OIAID and Multiform are way to build it.

A few questiosn to better help you:

What Rules version do you use?

Are the exclusive Skills/Powers in both ways (Civil can't use heroic ID abilities, Heroic can't use Civil ID abilities) or mostly one way?

How strongly do the Complications differ between forms?

Is it his choosing when to Transform? Is the heroic ID likely to give controll back to the Civil ID?

Re: Psychological Multiform?

If the two identities are going to have the different psychological complication I would go with multiform. If they are going to have the same pschological complications then lockout might be better.

As long as only little abilities and complciations change, simply reducing the Frequency of a Complciation or applying OIAID to it's cost can work as well.
