death tribble
Welcome to the Eleventh year that I have done this.If you come up with an idea that I like and that Storn likes I pay for it and Storn does it.Simple no ? I have also skowed down my acquisition of new artwork but this is an exception. It is an annual thing. well there are rules as long time posters will be aware of.Also even if the idea does not win, someone else may commission it as has happened before or Storn and I may decide to do another one from the thread which lead to Haven Walkur's Saggitarius and Bob Greenwade's Speedbump being done. Or someone else commissioning it from Storn as has happened previously.I will commission a new piece of art from Storn for probably end July and we have until then to come up with ideas for him to do. I have revised the rules from the past ten years. Some are the same but they are worth repeating.First off people are allowed to contribute ideas BUT there is a snag.As I am the one paying for it, I have to approve it. And Storn has to be willing to draw it. Part of the idea is to challenge the artist with something he hasn't done before or not done in a while. So some ground restrictions and rules.(1) The picture has to be for Champions. It is what I play and it is in this forum that the thread is posted.(2) Non American and non British patriots are welcome. But note, the 2008 and 2010 winners were patriots (Africa and South America). So it will be harder to convince me of a patriot as I have had a British Bulldog and a Britannia done. I also have over 50 American patriotic or quasi patriotic heroes from pics or that Etherio put up previously. And try naming them. Sheesh !If you have a good idea for a non-British or non-American patriot, please post the idea.It has proven to be easier to get a non-US patriot done as this has a great deal of novelty value for not just Storn and I but everyone else as well.(3) Storn does not like portraying standard gun users. If the idea sound convincing I may go for it but bear in mind Storn might not be convinced that he should do it.(4) Beast motifs. Probably not. I had the Lioness pic done five years ago. And have an awful load of these already. Also had a the Brick figure Hippp done last year and lasy year's winner was a Zebra Man. (5) No blatent Cheesecake. And anyone asking what this is risks a violent tribillating. This is a family forum area. Women ideas are fine. Villainous women in bikinis are not. And no hero fights crime in a bikini.(6) No kid heroes/villains. I like the over 18 crowd and proper heroes such as Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman etc. Anyone even suggesting something akin to the Power R*****S will be summarily subjected to a dousing with crude oil. And this year again we set you alight as well. And then dance around you invoking Mightybec.(7) It must be something that I would want to use and something that would interest me. If not then no go ahead.(8) Storn has certain restrictions of his own both because he will be putting the final product on his web site and has his own likes and dislikes. With this we will heed the former and indulge the latter. No Intellectual Property for example so no pics of Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Captain America.(9) Idea can be of an agent, a normal superhero/villain or a boss/mastermind. Note in recent history Storn did the criminal Mastermind Dr Dark for me; an Agent type with a jetpack and the board selected Beautiful Female Martial Artist all for me.(10) If you want Superman, Batman or Green Lantern analogues there has to be some thing about them visually to make Storn and I want to portray it and pay for it. Remember if you don't post an idea, then it can't get done.(11) Anyone who has had their idea done previously can apply again. There is no prejudice or bias either for or against you.(12) Wierd ideas. I have commissioned a trenchcoat wearing Purple Worm, Dr Snail who has a metal shell with a howitzer on the top, the gangster Pterra Don (part Dinosaur part gangster) and Bulette Train (part Japanese Bullet train and part Bulette). Try and outwierd me. I dare you.I'll post my own ideas as well plus ones from previous years that I am still willing to consider and may yet independently commission. So post your idea, if I like it then we'll proceed. You may just have a name and we can bash ideas around about it until we get a full picture.Of course if you don't like this approach you could always ask Storn yourself. If you posted ideas in the Create a Hero/Villain thread, try putting that in here as well. Christougher
My old gaming group had a running gag about characters whose concept was lacking... "Why does Leopard Girl have wings?" So I built Leopard Girl with Wings as a character. Lucy Willing worked in a lab splicing animal DNA together until the predictable accident combined her DNA with that of several animals, primarily an eagle and a leopard, giving her leopard skin, running and claws, and eagle flight and eyesight. From other animals she picked up gills for breathing underwater, rhinoceros-tough skin, chameleon camouflage and regeneration. Other parts may be added or removed if desired. I hope it's weird enough for you. Chris.

Logan D. Hurricanes
Ok, going to try to come up with some new ideas this year. First up... The Vagabond - Looks akin to an old railway hobo with over-sized, patched clothes, frock coat, shapeless hat and a bag on a stick. The trick is that bag contains the universe! (Or does he just say that since he can procure anything at all from it?)
Logan D. Hurricanes
Ok, need a new idea. Williwaw - A humanoid silhouette at the center of an ever-present, icy squall that moves with him. His exact appearance is difficult to describe as few have ever gotten close enough to get a good view. He could be some form of elemental, or perhaps a demon, or even some form of out of control mutant. His voice is difficult to discern, sounding like a low rushing wind. Rebar
Doomtrain - a powered Armor/Brick with a railway/industrial theme (but not so blatant as to be an Anthropomorphic Thomas the Tank Engine) We had a character many years ago called Train. Powersuit with a locomotive's headlamp and a cowcatcher grill for a mask. He evolved over time (got less campy). We based v2 on one of the original cardboard miniatures. (Wish I could find that mini online. A power-suit in black, white and red with scoops over each shoulder and instead of gloves, he had mittens.) The scoops got larger - much larger. And he acquired a ridiculous amount of running - only on train tracks (-2). Had an awesome presence attack when he blew the train horn and charged. Enforcer84
Had the Grill mask for Doomtrain as well as "Smoke Stacks" on his shoulders. He has a big ol' Glitterboy Boom Gun too.
Gravitron
I've been playing Champions since it came out in '81 and when I went to make one of my very first characters I was taken by Grond's four arms. In addition, pretty much all other games did a lousy job with martial arts and I decided I would try one in Champs. But of course, I couldn't have a 4-armed character.. because then he would be a a Grond "ripoff" so my character was a 6-armed martial artist named Centipede. In all this time I have never had a good picture of this character because I don't know any good artists and he seems quite difficult to draw anatomically. So 33 years later... my god.. am I that old? I still have his original V1 character sheet and no decent picture. I am an "expert" using the Champions Online costume creator but have had only moderate success creating a base and then using photoshop to create a picture. Here is his backstory: Gene-Probe had been involved in clandestine experiments for years with very little if any success until they secured significant "black ops" government funding under the top-secret "super soldier" program. At first Gene-Probe attempted direct modification of existing organisms, but this led to horrible results with all subjects dying within days or weeks of treatment. The scientists then decided to focus their efforts on splicing non-human genes into a human one. One promising line of experimentation involved the splicing of insect DNA into human embryos. The original concept was that by injecting key insect genomes into a human embryo a human-hybrid with greatly enhanced durability and strength might be achieved. After many horrific failures, the scientists seemed to have created a stable genetic combination in Subject I27. Subject I27 was born from a human womb by a volunteer surrogate mother, whose identity remains a mystery. Amniocenteses gave the scientists hope that their creation would be a success, and when I27 was born there seemed to be some proof in that I27 had 4 fully functioning extra arms. The subject grew rapidly, aging nearly 1 year every month for a time. As the months passed his aging slowed, but it became clear that although the scientist's creation was stable it did not have the desired characteristics. Aside from the six arms and harder than normal skin, the subject seemed relatively normal. Subject I27 was deemed a failure and held in captivity until it could be decided what to should be done. A few months later, I27's surrogate mother (who was still employed at the lab) overheard a conversation about the possible destruction of subject I27. She simply could not allow this to happen and so, one night after working late, she smuggled I27 out the lab. She knew that she would be hunted down and most likely killed so she gave the child to friends in the hope that it would not be found. It is presumed that she eventually was located and terminated by Gene-Probe, but no records exist that reference who she is, so this is unverified. Meanwhile, her child was raised in secret, in the home of a martial arts teacher. His adopted parents called him "Wu Gong" meaning "Centipede". I27's rapid growth slowed as he aged, eventually settling at an approximately human rate as he reached the equivalent of a 20 year old physically. In reality, Centipede is only a seven years old, but with his rapid aging, has also come rapid knowledge acquisition. His physical appearance, along with the calmness of spirit he learned from his father, belies his true age. As soon as he became mature enough, Centipede decided that he would fight back against the criminals that plague the world like those that perpetrate the type of atrocities that led to his creation. He believes his birth mother is dead, because his adopted family told him that it was likely the case, but he still holds some small glimmer of hope that she still lives. Although Centipede fights criminals with a passion, he does have a soft spot for those that have similar origins as himself. Descriptive Info: Despite Centipede's origin and his mixture of human and insect DNA he looks "relatively" normal. The only obvious clue to his genetic make-up is his six arms. His skin, although harder than a normal human, with a slight green tinge and a bit leathery to the touch does not look exceedingly unusual. His torso is quite long to accommodate his arms, but his shoulders are extra wide, his upper body is more triangular than normal, and his extra arms are slightly smaller and thinner than his "main" ones. Because of this, he can actually hide the extra limbs under an oversized trench coat (which he sometimes does to avoid over reaction). Other than that, he appears as a young, well muscled man, 6' 6" tall, in his early 20's with slightly strange features. It is difficult to pinpoint exactly what is odd about his face. Perhaps his bone structure is a bit too angular, his hair a bit too coarse or his teeth a bit too large and pointed, however, his mildly slightly "alien" features combine to form an overall appearance that is not unattractive. Centipede is a truly amazing martial artist. Even without his advantage of multiple arms he would be still be quite formidable. Although still vey young he has mastered a unique style of Kung Fu, based off the praying mantis style, but tailored specifically for him by his adoptive father. He never uses kicks of any sort, because his unique physiology has forced his brain to use processing power that would normally be allocated to his legs to coordinate his arm movements. This leaves him with sub-par control of his legs - a fact which he tries to hide. Instead he capitalizes on the difficultly in countering all six of his arm attacks to deal swift punches from multiple angles, devastating joint locks, and throws which are nearly impossible to counter. Centipede has recently learned to use six of the latest energy weapons "liberated" from some unlucky agents and has incorporated them into his arsenal. Because he can coordinate all his arms at once he can fire all the weapons simultaneously at a single target or multiple ones as desired. However, he dislikes the use of firearms and will avoid doing so if possible. (This is a recent addition primarily to give the character ranged abilities and could potentially be left out of the arwork if it is objectionable and perhaps replaced with a variety of martial arts weapons) I envision his costume would have centipede-like touches including looking "segmented" and being black and red/orange since he is also stealthy. A picture might also include a trenchcoat or overcoat of some sort.
