Champions Begins!

I always thought of Mages and Psionics as the interchangeable ones.

They feel the same in play but in terms of build there's a tremendous amount of similarity between an energy projector and a mage.

Blast is blast as Mr Incredible would say whether its Ion Bolt or Czardo's Ineffable Strike of the Cosmos

In general mages also have an excuse to take odd attack powers, like Drain and Entangle. Mages tend to be more flexible but complex power build.

Also, more powerful mages tend to have VPPs. Cause you simply can't write Doctor Strange or the Specter for under 500 points without it.

A lot of truth here.

The biggest reason I normally do not allow VPP's isn't the VPP.  It is most of the time the Hero games I have been involved with were with beginners and had not mastered the basic game, let alone an ever changing VPP.

Christopher,

I'm going through Champions Begins.  Great work, and interesting idea of teaching Hero System in five steps!

Question on Crusher - The chapter 3 character sheet shows his Crush attack as "KA 1d6 (3d6 w/STR) vs PD, must follow grab" but his STR is 45 which would be a 4d6 attack.  And the hero designer writeup has it as an RKA and has AoE 6m (among other things).  What is the intent of the attack build?
