  1. Re: Killiing a lot of zombies from a safe position.

The sequel has more stuff in it, if you haven't played...

Have you ever played Rebuild? It's decently inspirational for what happens after running-for-your-life and before civilization-is-reborn.

Thanks men, that is a good game allthough I would prefer a more serious style of graphics.

I finished both games and had a great time.

The zombies needs to be able to be defeated in my oppnion its not even a question in my campaing. I think the whole everybody dies mentality is popular with young people who just understood that they themselves are going to die one day so they get a bit hung up on it. Just now I actually have bit of problems with my players they are so intent on running off into the woods and survive of the land by themselves, so that my "preserve civilization in the face in barbarity" themed plot-railroad is in danger of going of it tracks.

If this continue I will have to do a time skip and think about how the diffrent factions have fared in the zombie apocalypse. Sadly and boringly most of them will be dead.. Oh well that will give lots of room for exploration adventures atleast.

  2. Re: Killiing a lot of zombies from a safe position.

Honestly, sitting on top of building session after session, popping zombies with a sniper rifle, while it night be a step in "rebuilding civilization" sounds like a pretty dull rpg (or video game for that matter).

With my new rules popping zombies with sniper rifle is done in one roll and we can go right on to the rebuilding roleplaying part. Very fun for people who like strategy games like civ and stuff. Roleplaying, task management getting and losing allies, lots of stuff to do after the zombies are (for now) cleared out.

I am planning for a long term game and the main enemy is going to be the traitor general and his evil soldiers which is the reason the millitary did not manage stop the zombie plauge in the first place. Off course the bad guys have understimated the zombie plauge too so in the end the hordes of hungry dead might be the final victor.

  3. Re: Killiing a lot of zombies from a safe position.

I try to avoid spoilers but there is one scene, very dramatic and good that have the whole group are shooting at a large group of zombies. I will pm you which episode it is.

I am sure you understand that replaying that scene in the hero rules would take a up a lot of real time and get boring after a while. Also crafty players WILL find a way to get into a situation where they have the opportunity to shoot a bunch of zombies from a safe position.

  4. Re: Killiing a lot of zombies from a safe position.

Your running a zombie game and the group has got up to a safe high place and have ACCESSS TO 100's of rounds of ammo!!!! You have failed as a GM!!!!!!
Nah, I have failed if I make them roll for every shot. In any case there is always more zombies..

This never happens in the movies' date=' well usualy just at the end. [/quote'] When it happens its usually in montage form. Or they start to shoot, close up to their faces and guns while when they fire and then fade to black. When we come back we see the carnage.

It would get a bit boring if you just do this and the players just get to shoot lots of zombies. Also as a game plot what does it do? I think I would just use it as a method of depleting their ammo.
That is the idea.. Making it only one roll to speed up the game and deplete their ammo as well. Win win.

Your a fan of the walking dead Martin2, how long time do you think it would take to play out the scene where they shoot all those zombies in the hero rules?

  5. Re: Killiing a lot of zombies from a safe position.

they could manage 1 kill per 2-3 bullets expended. And that's with really good marksmen' date=' bracing and setting, with decent guns. Firing with no called shots, you need to roll a 3, 4 or 5 for hit location(roughly a 5% chance of doing this), so you'd get only 1 kill per 20 hits. If you have military guys who haven't been told where exactly they need to shoot the target, opening fire at max range(300 meters), they might go through a couple clips and be thoroughly demoralized by the time the zombies get to a distance where they're actually stopping a significant portion. Food for thought(pun intended).[/quote'] This is very good. Thanks a lot.

No Survival Instinct -Physical Complication: Zombies don't defend themselves, don't take evasive action, and move predictably most of the time. All Hit Location Penalties are halved for purposes of aiming, just as if they had been Surprised Out of Combat

    Nice! I will steal it

Are we looking at magic zombies (animated dead bodies) or virus zombies (pain and shock resistant living bodies)? That makes a pretty big difference in what it takes to kill one.
I go for classic Romero zombies in this campain.

Allright I am thinking making a ranged roll and the number of points you make it or miss it with adds 5% to the number of bullets you spend or lessen the number of zombies you kill.

    based on this list

    Ocv 1: 600 per 100 zombies

    Ocv 2: 500 per 100 zombies

    Ocv 3: 450 per 100 zombies

    Ocv 4: 400 per 100 zombies

    Ocv 5: 300 per 100 zombies

    Ocv 6: 250 per 100 zombies

    Ocv 7: 200 per 100 zombies

    Ocv 8: 175 per 100 zombies

    Ocv 9: 150 per 100 zombies

    Ocv 10:100 per 100 zombies

    Ocv 11:75 per 100 zombies

    What do you guys think?

  6. I am doing a zombie campain now and I need some suggestions for some quick and easy rules for determing how much ammo the characters spends when killing zombies en masse from a safe position. Taking into consideration shooters fatiuge, they skill level and their ocv. Rules both for expert snipers and regular folks and everyone in between.

I am thinking figuring out the roll they need to hit them in the head, counting up the zombies they need to shoot, figuring out the numbers of rolls they need to hit and do a die roll to find out how lucky they are today. So I know how many zombies they killed and how much ammo they used doing it.

Basically I dont want to have the characters roll every shot when they are on a roof surrounded by two hundred zombies and have five boxes of ammo with hundred bullets each.

  7. Re: Special Missions team

Burglar. Hacker. Close combat specialist. Security specialist. Driver. Spotter/tactical cordinator. Maybe a sniper if its violent setting.

That the roles I think of when creating roleplaying scenarios. Take it for whats its worth.

  8. Re: How (un)realistic are Street Samurai?

A big thing about Street saumurais are the idiology behind the name. The concept is that in the future modern warriors will adopt or try to adopt Bushido to some degree. These street samurais will become romantic ideals in the media but the reality can be a lot grittier depending on the campain. They would use guns, knives, grenades and fists as the mission demands. Samurai swords or cheap knockoffs would be carried as symbols of honour, and might be used in ritual duels between warriors of that culture. Culture is the more important than weapons.

As for weapons swords might come back into use if armour tech evolves beyond bullets tech and you would need monoflimant swords or something to get through the armour.

  9. Re: Order of the Stick

Also, I don't think Roy is stupid. Why not surrender, if it even has a chance of saving your life, in a meaningless arena deathmatch?

Because Thog is berserk now, Roy as an intelligent tactical fighter would know that it is pointless to try to surrender, if anything it will only make Thog more eager to kill.

  10. Re: Order of the Stick

Crossing fingers for it being illusion here.

Please, let it not be another case of depressed author screwing up his story.

The reason I think its an illusion is that Roy is to smart to try to surrender to a berserking barbarian. Its no use.

  11. Re: Help fleshing out an idea

Long time ago a group of psi tried to take over the universe and the crystal is a remmnat of a weapon used by a oposing psi group who belive that free will is the most important thing in the universe. The distant war and the power of the first psi group held is the practical reason behind the diffrent empires aceptance of and encoraging of persecution of psi\s. The second group of psi peope are asteks who only use their psi powers to protect others from hostile psi groups.
