  1. Total agreement! Welcome to the world. I challenge any one to find me a modern comic were all the women are under equipped, so to speak. It’s no worse than most of the guys having a perfect body as well. I don’t see a bunch of girls complaining that Captain America shouldn’t be running around in tights because it’s too risk-a. The guy is a great artist and that should be enough.
  2. As a setting it’s just too clean, too perfect. I get an underlying since of control. The government controls too much. “You can only have a car in our city if we can control it by remote control; really it’s for your safety.†Too much like a Brave New world. We made every thing perfect for you, now do what you’re told. This is America I want to drive my own gas guzzling car, eat read meat and go to XXX clubs. I don’t want some camera taking my photo and sending me a ticket for jay-walking or spitting on the side walk. Maybe I am taking it too far. But you get the idea. There is some thing inherently wrong a setting that clean. As for my characters, most would not be there, the setting is not right. One or two other would be there just to see how much trouble they could get in. I do have one character that I put together as an ECO Terrorist that would have a blast there…literally.
  3. Geoff its a bad link. Or at least it is a bad link for me. As a GM, I make all character reduce there STR by the appropriate advantage (excluding reduced endurance advantages). To me it only makes since. Why would you have to do it for HKA and not normal attack? It’s just my opinion. +5D6, + 3/4 KB X2 So you would need a STR of 44 to get a full 10D6 KB X2 Or about 8.75 points for STR per +1D6.
  4. I think STUN damage could be a representation of how much pain a person can tolerate before they pass out. And getting stunned is sort of a temporary pain over load. It all depends on how you look at. And it was with this view in mind that I presented the too options listed in my opening thread. Now I am not saying that my view is right and your view is wrong. But it would seem to bee that increasing some ones CON would not be a good representation of some ones ability to ignore pain so much as an ability to simply withstand more pain. Does that make since? What do you think?
  5. How do you simulate a being that is virtually impervious to pain? There are a couple options that I can come up with right off the top of my head but don't know which way to go. And hope fully one of you might have an even better idea. 1-Simply increases PD and ED to high level, say 40 (or 50); and buy the last 20 (or 30) points at -1/2 Stun Only. 2-Damage Reduction PD and ED 75%, -1/2 Stun Only. I don't know if I would make this resistant or not. What do you think? Thanks
  6. Ok so if you can see the gate. How would you build the power so you cant see through the gate?
  7. Can characters see through a Gate (teleport)? It there a definitive answer or is it based on the special effect of the power? Hummmmm? Thanks
  8. Hopefully with out sounding like a kiss a$$, I totally agree with you .
  9. Questions about claws/teeth and martial arts. I am building an alien race, large predators. They have lots of natural body weaponry. Large retractable claws on their hands and feet, over sized teeth, and a sturdy tail with bony spikes on it. So if I build all their natural weapons as one HKA, should I add +1/4 Indirect advantage to simulate the 6 (hands 2, feet 2, tail 1, teeth 1) possible locations the attacks can come from? Like this: Natural retractable Claws, Teeth and Tail Spikes: 1D6 HKA; +1/2 END = 0; +1/4 Indirect; Total Cost: 26pts Assuming the above is correct, it is important to know that these aliens have elevated personal combat to an art form. A brutal and deadly art form. Specifically a custom Martial Arts form. Would I have to take Weapons Element for each Claws, Teeth and Tail costing 3 points or can just 1 point for 1 weapon element for the whole power? 4-Charge 4-Martal Strike 5-Offincive Strike 3-Leg Sweep 4-Martial Dodge 4-Martial Block 1Weapons Element: Claws, Teeth and Tail Thanks.....
  10. More that half the book is star ship right-ups. As far as I am concerned the only reason to own the book is if you are running a Star Hero campaign with lots of space craft in it. I must say I was a bit disappointed in most of the weapons right-ups as well. I am not saying is a bad book, I just don’t think it is the same caliber as the Star Hero or The Terran Empire. Both of which have very good equipment and background information for use in just about any setting. If I was to give this book a letter grade it would be a solid C+. Nice try but just did not make it. Where I would rate both Star Hero or the Terran Empire as A’s. Just my personal opinion. Thanks
  11. I have a campaign that is several steps above normal in terms of lethality. Out of the seven people currently in my campaign, 6 have higher than average defenses in terms of PD/PDr and ED/EDr, (4 of them have defenses on the high brick level), and the one char that does not have above average defenses is an invisible, teleporting sword master, with an insane DCV. Needless to say they just laugh at most normal attacks. Don’t get me wrong I am not complaining. Hell I helped them build there characters. And the world they are in is a hard one and it’s about to get worse. So maybe that why I am looking at penetrating differently than most.
  12. Monolith, Lemming, Fair enough, good answers. My thanks to you both.
  13. Lemming I am confused; you don’t like penetrating because it was abuse once in your game? There are lots of thing in FRED that can be abuse, I don’t think that makes then bad. I had a GM pull something similar to that against me once with an AFX10 NND. I didn’t stop using NND’s after wards. Am I miss understanding you?
  14. McMoy According to FRED BODY done by Penetrating Damage is not reduced by Damage Reduction. Would you allow Damage Reduction to reduce the STUN using your method? Monilith Using that method, a 1D6 Killing attack with Penetrating will do an average of 1 points BODY. I was thinking that that is a little too low for a +1/2 Advantage. You obviously disagree. Has using this method in your campaign affected its use at all? For good of bad? Is it used more or less popular than AP. I guess my problem is that AP (as you know also a +1/2 Advantage) is a better buy, at least in my mind. Maybe that’s just the power gamer in me talking. (Bad power gammer....back back I say. )
  15. The Penetrating Advantage and your input. Taken (cut) directly form FAQ on Penetrating. So what method do you use as a GM or as a player in your gaming group? I am currently torn. Penetrating has not been use in my campaign as of yet but its about to come storming on. In the form of a new Acid Spell the party Mage just finishing up researching, and in the form of some vary nasty Rail guns and X-Ray Lasers. So I need to make a decision fairly soon. I am thinking that 3 Body per D6 is too much, I am not real fond of the normal die method, and I think 1 Body per D6 is too little for a +1/2 Advantage. So I am Leaning A Standard 2 Body per D6 Killing. Thoughts? Please be honest. Am I nuts? Thanks
  16. Auto Fire Explosions, follow up. May be I am missing some thing. All of the Plasma Rifles listen in the Terran Empire and Space Hero have the Explosion Advantage and most have the Auto Fire Advantage and not one of them pays the Extra +1 Advantage. Is this a mistake in the books or is it a difference in campaign settings, Champions to Space Hero? Thanks
  17. Only in Hero ID change question. An Energy Projector needs a jolt of energy to change to hero form. Nothing major, wall outlet, car battery, taser gun…ect. Would you just classify that as the disadvantage of the OIHID? Or is it significant enough to justify some sort of disadvantage in terms of points as well? I am thinking its just the price of the OIHID? But I want your input. Thanks much,
  18. Why? Did you find it unbalancing or something?
  19. Is Find Weakness considered an attack? Is it obvious when the power is being used? Thanks
  20. Can a person Teleport or use Disolification to get out of a mental paralysis? Here is the example Master Mind used: Entangle 6d6, 6 DEF, Works Against EGO, Not STR (+1/4), Takes No Damage From Attacks Limited Group (+1/4), Based On EGO Combat Value (Mental Defense; +1) (150 Active Points); Mental Defense Adds To EGO (-1/2) Would you have to by a +1/4 to Harden against teleport and another +1/4 to Harden against Disalifiction. Or does the Bases on EGO Combat Value take that in to consideration. Thanks
  21. Raven a Martial Artist in the group I run uses 2 swords. To keep thinks simple and to keep him from loosing half his DCV, we simply put built the swords with Auto Fire. That ½ DVC can really hurt.
