If you are abiding by treasure tables, you must be prepared for the occasional "oddball" result...that one-in-twenty. Besides which, with a little creative thinking, such an outcome (i.e., your "better loot" in the wilderness) isn't terribly bizarre: Dryads (Treasure: M (×100), Q (×10) in the AD&D 2e Monstrous Manual), for instance, are known to accumulate items from charmed individuals while not being particularly avaricious or power-hungry. How about a cache left by harriers that frequent a particular route through their territory?
