  2. Re: Alternate History Trooper Loadout? Are there flechette firing weapons of note? If so, do you guys have any suggestions on which to use? While it's a nifty firearm, at least the P90 found a niche and wasn't the victim of politics or lack of funding.

  5. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Do they play well with older guns?
  6. Re: Cool Guns for your Games I've already stated the answers. I work with what I have.
  7. I'm gearing up soldiers in an alternate-history game of mine, but want to avoid conventional weaponry for the sake of flavour. So far, I have the Heckler and Koch G11 as their rifle of choice, but am stumped in terms of sidearm, machine gun, and grenades. I need weapons that are innovative (perhaps better in some ways), but didn't catch on in "our" timeline for whatever reasons.
  8. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Would an AP round, on top of what you have suggested, be less destructive too? Headshotting a hare or muskrat...ouch.
  9. Re: Cool Guns for your Games It's the ranged weapon type (Rifle) he's most skilled with, and the only one he has (outside of scrounging for aerodynamic enough rocks). Thanks, gewing. I'll have to see if the character can commission a gunsmith that's skilled enough (the world may not have Garands), with a good degree of secrecy.

  13. Re: Ctrl+V July 1st 12:06 P.M. The shot rings out, echoing poignant across the heated pavement of the base. Afterwards, there is a heavy stillness in the air, as everything begins to settle back into a blur of stagnation. Inside the CDC tent is another story entirely. Brandon works feverishly with a knife to cut around the monstrous tongue, sawing through tough muscle as blood pours free--anything to help abate Jacob's agony. The bliss of unconsciousness refuses to come for the former marine, acutely aware of his innards displaced as Brandon fights to correct them. Samantha has taken a seat on one of the cots, cradling her head in her hands. "I f**ked up." she keeps muttering darkly, eyes clenched shut. "I shouldn't have f**king left those two. I should've known something was up with that f**king sh**head." Wayne stands vigil at the decontamination chamber, rifle at the ready and trained on the far door, sweat-slicked brow furrowed. It was now 94 degrees Fahrenheit outside. As heat reflects off of the cracked concrete nearby, Jennifer shields her eyes, seeking out the tiny blackbird. She spies it, finally, perched at the lamp post nearest the entrance to the base, eyes gazing out towards wherever Boris has gotten to by now. Hobbs steps free from the bus, only to be hit by the heat anew. Brandon has managed to cut Jacob's intestines free from within the tongue. Jacob has succeeded another roll against death, but it remains insufficient to pull through his mortal wound. Soon, he will have to roll again. Proper surgery, at best, will lengthen the span between rolls--lengthen the time Jacob has left to live. With the earlier recon of the base, you can utilize the red cross tent. Medical supplies were scarce even that considered, but it will provide a better working environment than the CDC tent presently offers. There are out of commission medical electronics in the red cross tent Evan may be able to repair. With the bus recovered, so too have the group's medical supplies, and other ordinance. Sustained traumatic stress has begun to take its toll on the survivors. The roots to neurosis have begun to set.
  14. Re: Ctrl+V Jacob Odd random lights everywhere. It reminds Jacob of one night when he was a kid. He was out in the woods behind his parent's house and he was hunting fireflies. He would see one flit about for a bit but then it would go dark, then he would see another and it too would go dark. The moon was covered with clouds that night making it very dark, Jacob was using a walking stick and his hands to keep from tripping up and it sort of worked. He was following a path he knew well along this one hillside when he stumbled and fell off the the side of the path. As he rolled onto his back it was like an explosion of light, blinking dots everywhere. It was only seconds, though it felt like hours as the fireflies buzzed around in agitation. Then a few flew off, then a few more until eventually it was all dark again. Jacob lay there and smiled, then started to laugh! What a glorious sight! When he started to get up there was a pain in his stomach, he started to look down.. When everything blazed back into light and there was Brandon leaning over him pushing and proding at his stomach. Jacob knew he was hurt, and hurt very bad. That damn creature had been fast, too fast. He was glad that Brandon looked okay, that thing had almost torn him apart if he wouldn't have been able to shoot it. Jacob knows he should be in horrible pain but it just feels like everything is numb right now. He looks up at Brandon and smiles, he's been taking care of us for over a year now worrying about us getting sick in the shelter. Jacob has to blink the tears out of his eyes as the pain starts to burn through the haze. "hhhee", Jacob tries to talk to Brandon but ends up coughing, his lips flecked with blood now. "B.. Bran.. Run.. morr" Coughing agian, more blood. "Moor of em.. imm fin.. finished." Jacob looks at Brandon's face, tears now streaming down his face as he hopes he really did say what he meant to..
  15. Re: Ctrl+V Proud Lone Challenger.
  16. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Nope: just the Garand and whatever .30-06 ammo is feasible.
  17. Re: "Realistic" gun damage It's actually difficult for an HP 10 / HT 10 character to survive all the way down to -5xHP, especially when you factor in bleeding, Hit Location, and penalized HT rolls. Also, it is easy to get down there: a single 7.62 NATO shot does 24.5 damage, and heaven help if that or even 5.56 NATO (17.5 x 3) hits the Vitals.
  18. Re: Ctrl+V Good etiquette
  19. Re: Cool Guns for your Games Pretty much, yes. I know there are multi-ball rounds, but those are typically duplex or triplex based.
  20. Re: Cool Guns for your Games I have read of multi-shot rifle rounds, which is why I asked (I am hoping someone here can speak to their efficiency).
