  1. So, every power is a multipower with an 'external' -0.1 lim, so the pool+slot = power? I will note that that argument instantly bans many powers. If every solo power is a one-slot multipower, then any special power is banned, as they can't go in a framework. In fact, that argument is an open paradox. If every power is actually a framework, then every power is banned. energy blast is a one-slot multipower, but when you go to build it you're trying to put a framework in a framework. At the very least, that argument bans any true framework, since you're putting a "one slot multipower" in, for example, an EC.
  2. I would build it as a follower with multiform. I think this works better than the vehicle setup. The people inside could be life supports useable by others. In fact, many of the powers could be bought useable by others to represent them being inside the ship, with special effects and lims to flesh it out.
  3. If it helps at all, here is the writeup of the full multipower I'm trying to create: Flashlight Laser multipower 75 active, oaf (-1) 37 u Heat/Light Energy Blast 0end (+1/2) oaf (-1) 10d6 4 u Flash vs Sight AE cone (+1) 0 end (+1/2) no range (-1/2) 6d6 3 u Images vs sight 0 end AE cone (+1) x4 side length (+1) (48â€) to create light only (-1) oaf (-1) no range (-1/2) 1 u Variable Sword: 2d6 HKA 2x Armor piercing (+1) 0end (+1/2) 4d6 HKA with str 4 u Laser 3d6+1 pip RKA 0end (+1/2) 4 I'm thinking about making it run off of an end reserve instead of being 0 end. I also want it to take time to switch settings. Please post comments.
  4. Hmm. It seems to me that any lim you have should be backed up by the character concept. If one player comes up with an energy blast, and just says "I can shoot stuff" and another comes up with "My character built a little ray gun that can both shoot stuff with high intensity light, and dazzel someone with it's bright emisions. He hasn't flawlessly worked out all the bugs yet, and takes a little while to switch it between the different modes". I think it is worth it to reqard the second player for thinking out his character. Multipowers are made to save points anyway. Narthon Reward well thought out character concepts.
  5. Well, you could buy the base power with a 1/4 lim and it would cost less. I don't really understand what you mean, I guess.
  6. Thank you. It's strange, I checked the FAQ before I posted but didn't find that question. I guess I didn't look hard enough. Narthon
  7. I want to build a weapon with various attack powers as a multipower with different fixed slots for the different attacks. Energy blast, cutting beam killing attack, flash to sight. I want the operator to have to fiddle some controls to switch settings/multipower slots. Any sugestions on that the lim should cost to take a half phase to switch between slots on a multipower? Is it just not worth points? Am I being too confusing? Thanks ahead of time, Narthon
  8. Pak Protectors are something I have toyed with but I have had a hard time making him particularly impressive in a world populated by Bricks and Energy Projectors, but who wants to let a player run a Pak in a 150pt Star Hero game where he really stands out? Definitely 250pts and maybe 350. Actually, I think a pak might make a good light brick, and could definatly be a great martial artist. It could also act as party scientist/jack of all trades, and they are definatly gageteers. I figure an int of 40 isn't unreasonable, making them a natrual at most skills. Narthon
  9. Sure, that would be fine, though there doesn't seem to be much interest. Think I should repost in star hero? Narthon
  10. Your writeup looks good to me. If you are going with the true speedster, high dex, high spd, your version looks much better for someone with a high movement rate. I espically like it for speedsters "too fast to follow with the eye" For someone who can just run really fast, but doesn't have the other effects of a classic speedster, I'd keep the flight only on surfaces, because I like needing turn modes. 11. If any of you would rather post stats for Moties, I wouldn't mind seeing those either.
  12. Has anyone ever used any of the Larry Niven known space races in their games? Many would be great in either space or supers games. I'd like to see writeups for Kzinti, Puppeteers, Thrint, Jotok, or basicly any other race he has used. I would espically like to see write-ups for Protectors, be they Pak, Human, or any of the ring-world races. Thanks ahead of time for the help.
  13. I have some real problems with flight as an attack. What's to prevent you from putting megascale on it and sending someone oh, 10 trillion km away a segement. Those agents are in trouble.
  14. I'd give her the mind control with the lim "Only usable on own children" -1, or something like that. Giving her followers a vulnerability helps too.
  15. I would get rid of the sences multipower and give them both usable at the same time. It isn't overpowered Very nice ship though..

    Super Names

Here are a few, though I wouldn't be suprised if some of them overlapped from other entrys. All are from campaigns I've played in. The Obsidian Hammer Slipstream Plator (Plato plus an r, he forced wisdom on people) Andromida Synthisis Rescue Columbia The Blue Sentinal that should be good for now.
  17. For me, you've just got to have the player interaction. The occasional occ joke makes the game much more enjoyable.
  18. I'm impressed that it uses the caseless amunition we've seen in games for so many years. I didn't think we were actually close to getting it. I wonder about accuracy though. By having the rounds stacked in the barrel, you lose a lot of it's length for the first few shots. I guess quantity makes up for quality in this case.
  19. Thanks for the idea, I probably won't completly go with the black hole effects, but it gives me something to think about.
  20. Oh, any suggestions for a heroic name might be usefull. Thanks again.
  21. Right, I'm the youngest player at 23, and most are in the 28-32 range, we are playing once a week as kind of a break from normal life. We have all been role playing for quite some time, and are using this to let off a little steam, blow things up, that kind of stuff. a lot of the rules a fast and loose, the only banned power is multiform, too much of a point break
  22. I see the doesn't like authority thing more as a doesn't like normal authority. He probably works well with groups of other supers, espicaly ones with inherant powers, and sees technologists as having superior intelegence and hence not being normals. The guy isn't smart and tends to be rather brutal in combat, an probably reduced to comic releif for much of non combat. It will be up to other characters with better resources to solve mysterys. The game will eb very combat heavy ( I know the combined group has at least 4 hunteds, with even more watched, so much of the campaign will probably be "who's hunted shows up this week". A lot of the background will be fleshed out in the first few sessions as I find the character's personality.
  23. Any criticisim higher than you SUx0r is apreciated. The idea for the light based weakness is basicly that he hasn't really learned to affect light at all with his gravitational controls. He also has some kind of tie to thebasic structure of the universe that the relitivistic effects of light disrupt. There is no active point limit on powers, so I can't really comment on that. Of the other characters I know a lot about, one is a magic user with about a 150 point vpp, maybe bigger. Another is a Power-armor with a 24 point EC and a 60 point multipower. He has about 60 str, a 12d6 EB and a 4d6 area effect entangle. Other characters include a very old martial artist, a martian manhunter bounty hunter type guy, a character with powers to control petrochemicals, and a drain/adsorption based power armor. Speeds range from 4 to 9 right now. With so many characters, I hope to be able to stand back and take a rec farily often, and the density increase will probably not be used inless we need a truley huge str for something. I know the stun is a bit low, but I probably want to stay away from the front lines as much a possible. He relys on his gravitational powers to do most of his work for him, hence the low base str/pd/ed. You may have a point with the presence, espically since I envision this guy as an established hero.
  24. Well, I was looking for advice on how the points were spent, if anything I did was a little overboard (I'm having some second thoughts about the Density Increase) How well you think the disads will work, if the character can survive when surounded by a bunch of focus users or otherwist heavy lim characters, and just a general opinion on how elegant the build is. It is my second time playing champs, and the first time in several years, so I'm a little nervous. Thanks a lot, Narthon
  25. Ok, I'm joining a champions campaign this weekend, all characters are built on 100 + 150 disads (yes, a ton of disads, I beleive it is being done to encourage more role play and give the GM lots of hooks). The game has lots of silver age flavor, with a little bit of cutholoid horror. Setting is a major upstate New York metropolitan area. Anyway, the idea for the character is a fairly powerfull mutant with gravitational powers. I havn't thought of names at all yet, but that should come pretty easily. The character is a somewhat established hero, known localy but not nationally. The game is mostly 4th (thats what most of the players use) but 5th clarifications are legal for the most part.
