Are you kidding ? folks debate who is or isn't a Christian all the time. Who is one, and who is just pretending to be one for political gain or social acceptance.
Why do you think the faith has so many divisions, schisms, and so on?

Now that was the summary, Watch the ball bounce back and forth here.

These guys can claim to believe in the Teachings of Jesus
They can claim to be real Americans and that other citizens aren't
They can claim they're saving Americans and America with their hate.

They can claim whatever they want

I don't have to take any of it as an automatic truth.

The bible itself speaks of false prophets, knowing people by their fruits, and Jesus looking at people who claim to have done all this for him and his response "I do not know you"

Hey, I don't know what "Right Wing" even *means* anymore. Not when so many people have cheerfully tossed supposedly cherished views for the sake of power. Free markets and free trade? Nah, let's have protectionism and business decisions made in the White House. Family Values? Nah, let's vote for a serial womanizer and sexual predator, it's worth it to get someone on "our side" on the Supreme Court. National Security? Oh, Putin's not so bad, he mostly hacked the other party.

Meanwhile, yesterday the public radio program Fresh Air interviewed Max Brooks, author of World War Z (among others). He's part of a U. S. military think tank trying to anticipate emerging threats. They think about touchy-feely-lefty subjects such as climate change and public health in the Third World, because these things can harm us. The American Left traditionally disdains the military, but these "patriotic intellectuals," as Brooks calls them, sound... progressive.

It was quite an interesting program.

Okay, NOT Safe for work. This guy did this on that same day, and is PISSED, and it shows. He uses words I'd have to edit if they were on the board so forewarning there.

And the guy's anti government streak makes me seem warm and fuzzy towards Big Brother.

but damn... whatever his other views (And some others in other videos of his seem a bit whacky to me), I want to applaud this video

No matter what the right wing does, every person who isn't right-wing must be perfect in all ways all the time otherwise "both sides do it."

I'm trying to do the math myself...

One group is known for vandalizing, minus 10 points for Antifa!

One group is known for promoting/advocating Genocide!  minus 6,000,000 points for Neo Nazis!

Both groups accused of throwing some things and throwing punches? Minus 25 points for each!

Neo Nazi flat out murders people in a crowd, Minus 1000 points?

So I'm a little confused on how the math 'makes them even'

And then at his news conference the next day he went off-script and completely negated that statement, returning to his previous position that both of the opposing demonstrating parties were at fault.

I noted new White House Chief of Staff John Kelly standing with his face toward the floor while Trump went on his latest tirade.

To this point I tended to think that Trump pandering to white supremacists was mostly political calculation. Hearing his spontaneous remarks today, he's starting to convince me that's what he really believes.

I swear america has reached a point where you have the KKK and neonazis on one side screaming "We want all non whites exterminated! We want all non heterosexuals exterminated!" And you have POC and LGBT people on the other saying "We what equal rights! We want equal justice!"

And in the middle you have utter morons saying "Can't we compromise? Can't we respect each others rights and views?"

People in America need to face some ugly facts. You can't compromise with groups who want to exterminate tens of millions of people. You can't meet people who want a dictatorship half way.

It doesn't take "two to make a fight" no matter what ignorant adults tell kids. It takes two sides to make peace. If one side insists on getting their way violently, the other side fights, or is crushed.

Neville Chamberlain compromised with fascists. He respected their views. Didn't work out too well, did it?

Not sure how many more days like this I can take.  Getting close to the point where I can no longer rationally discuss the Trump campaign.  At this rate in a few weeks I'll just be screaming continuously.

And on Facebook I ran into posters decrying the removal of one such statue is a demonstration, as if it was one of the worst things that could possibly happen. This from people who openly cheered when the statues of Saddam Hussein that were everywhere in Baghdad were taken down by jubilant mobs.

I also frequently see commenters on Facebook claiming that nobody is really opposed to Trump and that the "Antifa" demonstrators and movement were creations of George Soros' money. Since the opposite of Anti remains Pro, I can't help but think of these people as "Profa"

I get sickened by these comments very quickly. Why would anyone be pro-fascist? Didn't we have a war about this? And didn't the Fascists lose and lose big?

This poses a serious question for me. I am for the most part powerless to influence events. If this country continues the path it is on, there isn't a lot I personally can do about it. After the events of last weekend, that really bothers me. I can't really do anything that would make much of a direct impact as an individual voter in a blue state that would not back the President anyway. Nothing I say or write is likely to have much of an impact. I really wish it would. But it won't. I feel terrible about that.

There I have to respectfully disagree with you. Most politicians are aware that because they're in positions of authority, their words carry the power of the State, and thus carry the State's implicit backing. That's why most politicians choose their words very carefully, have other eyes vet their prepared statements, to assure as much as possible that the message sent will have only the implications they want.

If Trump wasn't aware in advance of how his latest comments would be taken by certain parties, then he's only a fool. But his past pattern of public statements tells me he's not that big a fool. Unlike his harsh and very specific accusations toward and condemnations of other nations, ethnic and religious minorities, political opponents, Trump's responses to provocative statements and even actions by right-wing and white-racist extremists have consistently been muted and vague. To me it seems clear that he believes those people make up a significant part of his base of supporters, or at least that his base has sympathy for their attitudes; and he doesn't want to alienate them.

Sometimes there is a place for anger. Historical perspective is all well and good, and certainly informs us, but in times like this we should be angry. Indeed, it is imperative that we be angry when our nature as a nation is under attack.

I did something today I have not done in decades. I wrote a letter to the President. He won't read it -- it's possible that nobody at all will read it -- but I had to get it out. He wimped out yesterday, while at the same time singing his own praises as if the point of the exercise was to make himself look good. I actually watched that speech, and my gall rose higher and higher with every word. I had the strong desire to rake him over the coals for it, so I did.

I chose my words carefully, but I did not mince words either.

Even his own party is calling him out over that speech.

There is a time for anger. There is a time for outrage. This is that time.

This might sound weird, but I wanted to thank you all for carrying on a rational, respectful discussion. In the face of what's happening in Charlottesville right now, it gives me hope for the future to see people of different backgrounds and opinions trying to understand each other instead of resorting to yelling, name-calling, and threats.

I don't know why, but these events have hit me harder than I expected. For really the first time, I've begun to despair for the future of my country, and the world my kids are going to have to grow up in. It's been hard for me to process. I've begun to succumb to cynicism about the fate of the United States and the world.

So thank you for reminding me that there are still grown-ups out there who are genuinely interested in making the world a better place than it is today.

Please, feel free. I'm ashamed to say I have used Malls as bases partially because it saves so much time on floor plans for your base.

And I was thinking of something like your suggestion for one of the big stores... "There's more for your LIFE at Sears" -Tim Allen

Heh. "Amazing Friends" ..man, would that set Pinprick off.

I should have mentioned before, but I thought it was a great idea turning an old, unused shopping mall into a hero base.  I'm ashamed to admit the idea never occurred to me.  I'll have to unashamedly steal borrow that for an NPC team in my Champions campaign.

Might I suggest them keeping a wing of the mall as-is, for use in training?  Racks of clothing and other merchandise to use as cover or makeshift weapons, borrow the robots to act as innocent bystanders, etc.  Just an idea.

Always nice to get input. At first I was unsure how to make this a bit more...shall we say, exciting? but you know... it's an action focused genre so there's no reason at least on vision wouldn't involve punching things (or getting punched). Hopefully it also fleshed out more why Fish Guy sought out a team and why Lady O plucked him up. One day, the Apocolyptics and Fish Guy will meet again, but this time Eel will have some team mates too.

But that would be for another book.
