  1. Re: More space news! Not exactly "news", but IMO worth keeping an eye on. The Event Horizon Telescope Project
  2. Re: More space news! Back in the day, just going (or attempting to go) supersonic was very difficult as well. Yesterday's difficult is today's standard is tomorrow's relic.
  3. Re: More space news! One word: DEET.
  4. Re: The cranky thread If there has been anybody who has suffered a loss (person, pet, or property) that I have not given moral support for, please be assured it was only due to an omission of reading of it and not a deliberate act of omission.
  5. Re: The cranky thread Ternaugh, please have my sympathies. 44 is just too damned young to go.
  6. Re: The cranky thread I'm sorry to hear that. It is never an easy choice and one that I couldn't bring myself to make. I chickened out and opted to go the super expensive 'try to save him' route - to no avail.
  7. Re: Creepy Pics. Wait until you see what is driving!
  8. Re: Musings on Random Musings Just put it in an empty apple juice bottle.
  9. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER My car is in the shop. I've owned it for about 4 years now, and it is 5 years old. Battery went out, and my front brake pads are down to 3mm. Throw in an oil change all for the pretty sum of $500. Ouch. Maybe going to the Nissan dealership to service my Altima isn't always a good idea...
  10. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER For jokes like that, we cut off an arm -- just past the Radius.
  11. Re: More space news! I've seen it before. Since I would be viewing solo, I choose to not stay up for the meteor showers -- at even the great rate of one a minute, you are still waiting over 98% of the time for something to happen.
  12. Re: How do you Hero GMs prepare for new campaigns? Welcome back, Stacie. I have not yet run any games because to me, the task of building a whole world that is consistent and logical* has seemed nigh insurmountable. I hope to eventually learn how the "pros" do it, and eventually run a game of my own. *Note: I know that I'm not litterally designing the entire consistent, logical world -- I use that to referr to the setting, be it a city, country, world, or galaxy. IMO anything I create needs to be (internally) consistent, and follow it's own "rules", otherwise I could (rightly, IMO) be accused of just pulling stuff out of my behind without regard for it conflicting with what has already been established. Writing plots, and deciding NPC individual & group motovations & goals is for some reason very hard for me.
  13. Re: Musings on Random Musings I see nobody has mentioned Pizza Hut... And the local Domino's made me a good thin crust Supreme/Deluxe not long ago, so I'm not too hard on them. I am not a pizza snob, but I've never had a good pizza from Hungry Howie's. CiCi's pizza buffet is fair, and quite reasonably priced. It has been almost forever since I've tried Little Caesars -- last time was probably ~20 years ago.
  14. Re: "Neat" Pictures Indeed. Though I would be concerned about the flammability of the thaching.
  15. Re: Musings on Random Musings While we're on the topic of pizza, my favorite is the Supreme/Deluxe: onions, mushrooms, green peppers, black olives, sausage, beef, and pepperoni. Preferrably on thin crust.
  16. Re: Jokes What was the hover text?
  17. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER Okay, I can see some cases for #1, as the defense of the nation is the responsibility of the national government. #2 is IMO wrong. The general process of raising a child is to allow controlled, gradual exposure to the real world. We don't thrust everything in the real world into the face of a 5 year old (like their mortality, for instance). IMO this is not "cencorship" but gradual acclimation. Not to mention that #2 is being prevented ("censored") not by an instution or organization, but (usually) by parents.
