  1. Re: The Red Star - Hero Sounds good, I guess I can start with melee combat using the Hook for the Red Guards, and the Hailers for the Hailer/Guardsmen. These are telekinetically controlled weapons and the classes could be package deals. Hailer/Guardsmen are walking tanks with huge guns called Hailers that can be reconfigured on the fly and have ammo teleported into their packs. Shouldn't be too hard to create. They can shoot around corners, extend range with skill in telekinesis, pierce armor, etc. Think walking tanks. Heavily armored, and the hailers can switch from machine gun to flame throwers and experimental energy weapons. They can shape the flame via telekinesis. Shouldn't be too hard for these guys. Red Soldiers' Hooks will be a problem. The hook is a melee weapon telekinetically controlled and reconfigurable. Spear, mancatcher, sniper rifle, mortar launcher, and machine gun. Easy so far. Can be remotedly thrown and controlled to stab/slice/shoot multiple foes. Okay, doable. This last part throws me, they can form a rotational defensive shield to protect you from incoming attacks and still attack while spinning. The rotating defensive shield relies on you somehow sensing where an attack (even small caliber arms) will be coming from, and move it into place to deflect/block the attack without being damaged. You basically spin a polearm around yourself without touching it, and it intercepts most hits coming in while still being able to make attacks at high skill levels. It is not supposed to be able to stop telekinetic weapon fire, but it is supposed to stop normal small arms and rifles. Not sure versus energy weapons. Thinking a low PD and no ED on that. The hook is my favorite weapon from the setting, but it's arguably better than the staff the Star Shields use.
  2. Re: Dr. Destroyer Missions On Thursday, September 17 How did aggro management go? Kara is built to do tank or melee dps, but her presence is low. If I dropped STR/CON for PRE items, would I be able to hold aggro? The boards show that the aggro system is not working right, meaning a DPSer/Healer with high PRE to reduce aggro still get primaried when the tank is pounding the foe. Was that your experience?
  3. Would it be a good idea to take a D20 game system one shot and expand it into a Hero game? I love The Red Star, a comic series about a mystical modern day Russia that has the crew of a skyfurnace realize their leaders capture souls upon death to fuel their war machine, and fight back for the freedom of their ancestors. It has psychic abilities and spells used with upgraded military hardware in epic conflicts. The system has to model huge war machines, epic battles, infantry on the ground, and battles in the spirit realm. The energy from captive souls fuels spells, keep miles long skyfurnaces aloft, powers warp and telekinetic abilities, and allow equipment to be upgraded by spells. Souls fight in the spirit realm to free their peers and seek to get the truth out to the living. The crew of the RSS Konstantinov even take their skyfurnace into the spirit realm to assault the main prison camp fortress Archangel. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Red_Star I have all of the issues in trade, bought a PS2 to run the video game, and own the D20 gamebook. I'd like to convert it to Hero and expand it to cover what appears in the later comic issues. Is this a good and plausible idea?
  4. Re: Which game you are looking forward to ..? Do you mean upcoming projects from DOJ? If it is a wishlist for them, I'll go. Galactic Champions 6E Empyreans 6E If any other genre, I vote The Red Star- Hero. Thinking of making conversions for TRS now. The out of print D20 version is neat, but I want to make it Hero style.
  5. Re: Well, I give up I found a keybind on the CO boards that increases the turn rates and the rate for looking up and down. That helped greatly with the Xbox 360 controller. I set the yaw and pitch rate to 5 on Kara and could keep up with anything after some adjustment. Sadly, the keybind seems character specific, so I need to find it again for my alts.
  6. Re: Dr. Destroyer Missions On Thursday, September 17 Dr. Kara Lokidottir L22 is interested. Goal is to get her leveled up today and tomorrow now that my work week has ended.

    I hate Gadroon

Re: I hate Gadroon I'll push the good doctor up this weekend. Hard to find the energy to log on during my work week, but I'll log on for whomever needs a hand.

    I hate Gadroon

Re: I hate Gadroon I am looking forward to those missions. Steve, if you or anyone else needs help with their missions, I can be on as early as 3AM PST.
  9. Re: Abilities Discussion I have Retaliation ranked to 2 with Punitive Pummeling. It really does help when I can turn a 8000 point alpha strike into 1200. For Might, Retaliation adds to my next attack's damage, and Punitive Pummeling is a 360 degree kick that knocks all foes around me away giving me a breather. Looks sweet when it triggers for free damage while continuing to block.
  10. Re: Martial Arts and AOE You'd think claws would have it. Everyone has seen Tasmanian Devil spin.
  11. Re: Assistance with CO needed. Damn Celt, now I don't feel so old at MMOs. I came on to EQ when Kunark was released, but got motion sickness and never did level my Iksar monk very far.
  12. Re: Crafting Thank you for the offer. Up around 230 skill in Arms myself on Kara. If I had the parts, I could make stuff higher than my own level. Sadly, I must find 500 more Snakebucks first before I worry about leveling again.
  13. Re: PvPing: The Hero Games Melee does feel gimped in the land of ranged attacks and ice holds.
  14. Re: Legion of Heroes - Ventrilo Hooray! Thank you very much!
  15. Re: Assistance with CO needed. None in my experience. Everquest, Everquest 2, Eve Online, World of Warcraft, City of Heroes, Ragnarok Online, Dark Age of Camelot, and Warhammer Online never charged me first.
  16. Re: In need of assistance. Curious. I assume you have installed it and moved past this point by the time of your other post. If you still have this issue, post in this thread again.
  17. Re: Assistance with CO needed. Generally when you set up a MMO you have to select a payment option in case you desire to continue playing past the included 30 days. The longer an amount you sign up for, the greater the discount. You will have to select any of those options and provide a payment option (CC number in this case). You can cancel or change the subscription type at any time, but you must provide something to get started. Then when your account is active, you will log in and be recognized by the server. Now the game will patch itself. The shards refer to the instances of the world you are logging into. As people load into the game, the game creates extra copies of each area to keep the population from getting too high. You can switch to any shard/copy you desire at any time to group with friends. Now the patching will take some time. We've had several since release. Once completely up to date, the game will have a Start button on it.
  18. Re: Abilities Discussion Here are all the details we know. http://www.champions-online.com/promo/bloodmoon/bloodmoon.html Celestial is supposted to be a support (healing) set. That's all we know at this time.
  19. Re: Champions Online Hero Build's Look at the advantages for each power you are considering. Helps greatly when picking order. My L20 power was taken then for not only it's AOE, but for the fact that Cannonball lets me turn my flight elevation into a much more damaging attack.
  20. Re: Well, I give up I am sorry the inteface is not easy to adapt for you, Log Man. Some people were reporting that 3rd party controllers (Xbox 360 I am counting as first party since the game seems to insist you use it if you want support) worked great if you mapped the buttons. http://www.edimensional.com/product_info.php?cPath=24&products_id=143 might be a bit pricy, but could be worth a look. This is around half the price I saw others selling it for, turns out Ben Heckendorn partnered with them on it. http://benheck.com/ This is the guy who made the controller, his blog showed another one he made for right hand only use. He custom builds them and might be worth contacting for help.
  21. Re: PvPing: The Hero Games Yes, BASH unlocks around the 20s (get Ceiling Cat while you can at the lower levels), and there is the Stronghold Apocalypse for higher.
  22. Re: Abilities Discussion I had no issues with the Snipers in Bullet for Bissle (Invuln/Might build) although those tough foes did lower my health. Viper-X however, well, I stood the best chance of going toe to toe with him but couldn't dent his health. I have over 3700 health at L20 as the tank build, the second rank in Retaliation (block), maxed Invuln, and even block he once hit me for 1200. Normally he hit for 127-150, but he has a strong hit that was much greater. I tried Roomsweeper, Thunderclap, Havoc Stomp, and Beatdown, but could barely move his health. With a lot more DPS he would have been okay. One thing I did like, is the advantage in Reliation that I took instead of the third rank. It says I have a 20% chance to kick when receiving damage while blocking, and it procs often. It doesn't do much damage, but it does keep the foes from attacking for a bit and gives me another tool to control them. When I kick it knocks all the foes around me away for what it says is up to 39'. It knocked Medusa and Psimon back when they did their big attacks, and made things much easier. Yes, I have to chase a foe down, but they are not able to attack for a few seconds which you can use to attack another foe or bring down a henchman for possible health. I try to focus on Villains in fights and smash the henchmen down first only when my health dips significantly. I think Invuln is a damn good power. Sure I miss Regen's constant heals, but my Str/Con focus pays off in spades with Invuln. 32% bonus resistance coupled with 30 flat damage reduction currently.
  23. Re: Official Hero Boards Super Team And Chat Channel! Steve, since the cap is 250 members per SG, start thinking of how many characters each person/account can have in it. 2 or 3 should do. 4 would limit us to only 62 or so members.
  24. Re: Character Creator Contest Actually, if you own Champions Online, you already have it. Go sign up for the contest (it redirects all info to Cryptic), wait a few minutes, and then go to log in. At the drop down box for Live/Test will now have a third option of Scion. Select it, patch, create character, and submit. That's it.
  25. Re: Champions Online Hero Build's Doh! I never even noticed those. Thank you again AJackson! I love this community.
