  1. How about something from the Great Patriotic War (known to the rest of us as WW2). Instead of the bear motif for the brick go for T-34 (the tank that saved Russia). Another one would be go a step further into the mystic realm and make Motherland (whatever that would be in Russian) as the mystic brick woman empowered with the strength of the people.
  2. T'port I do think teleport is over used a bit by GM's. It is a very easy and nearly foolproof way to get away from the supers and is often used in comics as a means by which the bad guys get the last laugh even when theyr have been beaten. As GM I would allow a track teleport depending on how teleport is done. If it's magic then a mage could certainly figure a way to track it, and a technogeek may not. Vice versa if it's a technological teleport then the techno-Geek may be able to track it and not the mage. Even if a bad guy is "supposed" to get away I like to give the heroes a slim chance. Game before last my T-porting bad guy had a 5 second delay between ports. Enough time where he almost got caught...

    Who is he

He's on the cover of Ninja hero and occasionally shows up on the left side of the screen here. Blond guy with two swords and green dragon tatoos on his chest. Just wondering. I do not see any write up on him in Ninja hero or ultimate martial arts. Is he in Champions universe?
  4. prediction I predict the new captain Brittain will be a she not a he, and that woman that died will be her. Now let's see if I am right...
  5. True. You could leave it on as a "hearing" most of the time and change it to sight as needed. Still the telescopic on the hearing anology would work the same way as sight. You hear it coming from the crowd, you narrow down the focus on one particular person and there you are! Easier to picture it (literally) as seeing though
  6. Desolid VS Atom bomb. If you really wonder have your character set one off while sitting on it and then see what the GM says about the results. The ONLY way to know....
  7. Actually hearing has a number of benefits over seeing. Right now for example the way I imagine it in the game, you would not need a clear line of sight to a magical item nor have the item be large enough to even see in order to "detect" it. If an item were hiding in a dumpster and you walked by just bopping along going to the store for groceries you'd be able to detect it now, even hidden IF it were "loud" enough (depends on the item obviously). In the same circumstances if it were magic sight, even telescopinc and discriminitory you'd miss that same item hiding in the dumpster. Telescopic wouldn't be a bad idea. You'd need an area to focus in on then (using hearing as an anology) amplify the sense. That item in the dumpster - focus in on it and find out it's just an old tarrot card someone tossed and isn't worth digging out. Otherwise you might end up pretty smelly before you find that out.
  8. Heck designing a character to NOT be hurt by an atomic bomb could be fairly easy. Desolidification with at trigger (a-bomb) limited to desolid ONLY to affects of A bombs (very unusual circumstances). Add a life support similarly built. I don't have my books with me but I should think it would not be too difficult. The guy would be killed by a rock but an atomic bomb could go off in his lap and not touch him.
  9. Hmm, a detect multipower in general - not just magic but one that could be changed around as required. Heck you could probably go with a normal sense just add magic. Taste magic, smell magic, hear magic etc. Bad guys though are obviously going to learn invisibility to detect magic at some point...if they don't know about it already.
  10. It would probably depend on what your GM decided I dunno. Think about a reality where we have no hearing. Then you want a character with detect sound. Ok, now you can hear a sound, but can't tell direction or range or anything else.. you "hear" something (could be anything). TO make it really useful you need "hearing" to have a directional aspect (the sound is coming from this way) and ideally a range aspect (which is likely learned over time - and would be a skill for using sound more than anything else). Over time you'd get discriminatory (sounds like your x wife - run!). There was a show on some channel or other I watched about kids that are getting (spelling...) cochliar implants - sort of artificial ear drums that tie into the ear allowing deaf to hear. Anyway it was pretty interesting to see how the kids learned to use a sense they never even knew about.
  11. As for the affects desolid that would be up to the GM I guess. Trick is the desolid character will have to not breath for a while (superheated and radioactive particles) if nothing else. Even the desolic person that close would end up blind (if I were GMing it anyway) as the light from the blast would be powerful enough to fry the retina even if you were looking away from it. I guess the affects desolid is just to point out that there are a lot of combined things that are very unpleasant to living beings going on all at once. I mean you have intense light, heat, hard radiation(Gamma, neutron), soft radiation (alpha, beta particles), shock wave, blast wave (air pressure), reflected heat (bouncing back from the ground) and electromagnetic affects. My take were I GM would be that something in that mix would probably affect desolid - and at the shear intensity of whatever that something is the desolid person would probably be unhappy (or crispy).
  12. Bottom line Bottom line really is that I am GM and can (and will) fiddle with things a bit as I see fit. An entangle built along the lines of spider-man's webbing for example would entangle cap's shield, but not cap himself. This could be a problem if cap needed to use the shield soon, but at least he's free to dodge. Now if it weren't Spider-man but was instead Captain Boomerang with a net boomerang or something along those lines then the shield would work probably without being it'self entangled. Then there's the "uncanny dodging ability" bought as missile deflection. Again it would depend ON the effects of the entangle someone was using - I'd judge from there. IF it's a 5' wide net then it should be much harder to dodge. If it's a glue ball then no problem, dodge away. The main issue is making sure the players know ahead of time as much as possible.
  13. I guess it depends on the effects like you say. For Captain America an entangle could be theoretically avoided, but it may hit his shield instead of him. For Spider-man, assuming one bought his uncanny dodging ability by using missile deflection, an entangle would just miss like any other attack (in my opinion - were I GMing a game with him in it). Me thinks one needs an adder - Missile deflection +1/4 or +1/2 works against entangles (and/or other attacks)
  14. OK. So even if the firing side makes a great roll (say a 4) the deflecting side needs only roll the firer's OCV (in the example a 7)? Never really thought of OCV as being very useful as defense.
  15. I'm still learning the GMing ropes with the game and had one of my villains use missile deflection finally last game. From my understanding from reading the write up (several times - it's a bit confusing) my take is that the deflection is sort of an attack on the attack. In other words the attacking missile ocv 7 for example is treated as DCV 7 for the missile deflection roll (did that make sense?). Boiled down further - my missile deflection is OCV 7 - the missile I am trying to "hit" is OCV 7. I need an 11 or better to "win" and make the missile go elsewhere otherwise it hits my character. Better? Have I got the idea right? Now the question of the day... if the attacker who is trying to hit with the missile has ocv 7 and rolls really well (say rolls a 5) do you take that into account at all or is it just basic OCV of attacker regardless of what they roll that you deal with?
  16. Just rename the character Jaguar. The Jaguar is probably the most poweful cat pound for pound. They are incredibly stalky and built more like bulldogs than the lithe form one thinks of as a cat. Jaguars used to range up into North America so it's not too far "out there" to consider that a jaguar spirit or something could take human form even outside the range of where the big cats are now (Mexico, central and South America). Personally as a cat character idea I'd suggest the invisibility be limited just slightly in that he has to make stealth rolls for it to work. That adds just a bit of flavor and heightens the suspense of the big cat guy stalking his prey.
  17. We ended up having a short game so the full moon and major tussle is 2 weeks away (Gamestorm convention next weekend). Ol' Demonicus will have 2 more weeks to think about what to do, though he came up with a great idea last night which will be hard to beat even with 2 more weeks of scheming time. I still think we should have a super villain forum. We GM's can "channel" our favorite villains and discuss villianous things, plots, super weapons we have built and generally crow and gloat over how we have rubbed super hero noses in do-do.
  18. The super heroes are SO suspicious now I don't know if I could kidnap one without doing an "act of GM" - which I try not to do very often. I have a good idea of what Demonicus will do. There is some chance involved but what fun is a scheme that is foolproof? Fun is the first job of a super villain after all - must be able to laugh maniacally on occasion! Let the heroes be the serious ones.
  19. Actually I thought of having Demonicus "kidnap" Packy - the first Indian elephant born in the US I think. He's about 40 now and Portlanders love him. Kill a person and they'd generally not take much notice, but if someone offed Packy there'd be quite an uproar! Let's see though.. An elephant bull weighs 5000 to 6500 kg. Convert that to solid gold. Hmmm, what would one need to lift and or move that to the smelter? Rather hard to hide too I should think.
  20. Turn selectively invisible - leave bones visible only... or muscles or blood vessels or just all but skin. Yuk! Villains must make roll or puke guts out as the walking digestive system man attacks them! LOL my imagination is TOO good sometimes. I can visualise the esophogas, stomach and intenstines "walking" around...
  21. slap, slap, slap... Ok... Kzinbane is here. The way the heroes found out about Demonicus' activities was that the first time it was attempted (last full moon) a secondary gate opened up where a couple ley lines cross not far from Portland, and a fairly nasty demon and a couple of imps got out. The heroes beat the demon and took another game to chase down the imps but also figured out (some magical detective work) that something else was involved that weakened the boundries between heck and here. THey found the ritual site and the dog blood - and the darn mage managed to track the dog remains (which are now Gold) down. Anyway the heroes have put together what's going on and know that the dog and birds was just a warm up. Of course the big bad gold changing demon COULD get out. One goof up in the circle, one energy blast gone awry that mucks it up and... yeah - all the heroes and villains would be very busy. Yes there would be a bit of irony if they had to save Demonicus from his own monster.
  22. Hmm. Well being able to increase or decrease the frequency of light provides a good basis for lots of powers. I mean the visible spectrum is just a very small chunk of what "light" is. It goes from radio frequency all the way to very high power cosmic rays. Multipower wise he should be able to "see" in various spectrums of light - maybe taking a bit of time to switch modes like the Predator did on Predator 2. He may also be able to hear police band (though as a special effect may be deaf to normal sound while listening to radio). Heck just his senses are fun to think about! Now if he can take light energy and add/reduce frequency he should be able to generate radio to cosmic rays for a number of different effects. Jamming radar, sonar, radio communications to name a few uses other than the obvious types of energy blasts (IR = Heat, visible light = flash, UV = he can be a tanning bed in his off time). I like the idea of the 3 dimensional shadow (absorbing all visible light). Invisibility is good too obviously. Illusion powers maybe limited to himself - he can act like a video screen and project an image of someone else on his own features. Even if he can't make an image at a distance if he can emit light and control it he can make himself look like different people or maybe other things. Lots and lots of ideas...
  23. Let it loose. Yeah, that has crossed my mind. I strongly suspect though that the Demon's first motivation will be to kill Demonicus. He after all is the one that is dragging it to the mortal realm and making it do things it really doesn't want to do, confining it, etc. As Demonicus I'd be leary about letting it out. I could however give the big demon a day off (he kicks back in hades and watches hellvision sports on Sunday or RP's bing normal humans with his friends). I could then call up one or more of my lesser more tractible creatures from the pit... I mean if a demon kills the heroes and I don't do anything but stand around and scream oh my, oh my... be hard to stick anything on me. I have good lawyers too (paid in gold, heh heh). They are nice to me, after all Lawyers know they are all going to hell after all! (just kidding, I have lawyer friends). Ah the best part is that foolish mortal novice mage Spellbinder will no doubt read this forum and see all the things that people have thought up. Of course that's just a taste of what I have thought up myself too. What am I going to do. He will find out Sunday bwah ha ha ha!
  24. Note from GM: I restrict my super villain sa bit too, not jus the players. Yes, continuing to turn horses and doggies into gold would be less likely to attract super hero attention and mean less jail time if anyone is caught, but there just isn't the gritty horor aspect of it unless it's a human. 2nd the Demon is not happy about doing anything and gold was just something he agreed to. He (the demon) is obviously motivated to try to escape the "entangle" (confining magic circle) and cause havoc on Earth. Demonicus is (for now) just making Gold and has a way to "launder" it and get cash for his boss. Eventually the aim is to be able to make anything (diamonds, uranium, platinum) but it's a learning curve for him AND the demon's cooperation is not assured at all times. All role playing the villain aside my aim is to come up with something intersting and challenging for the PC's to do. If I skip this full moon it's going to be a let down. If I just magically make my next sacrifice/gold production invisible to being found - well that's no fun for them. If I just stack the super villain deck with all bad guys I have available the good guys probably will die - also not much fun for them. No, I have a pretty good idea of things I can do that will be challenging (meaning fun). I posted here just to see what sorts of evil things other super villain minds may think of. We need super villains only forum!
  25. One way to destroy the Earth is with a big gravity control weapon. Fire at planet, turns Gravety to a repelling force and boom. The larger the target the more power you'd get. Shudder - hit a galaxy center black hole with it... Anyway this would allow you to destroy a planet like Earth without having to have an EB that does a zillion body.
