Re: Disney Princesses
And since I'm posting Princess pictures, I have to post the favorite I recently came across.

Re: Disney Princesses
According to my daughter, Aurora should have martial arts, or in her words, "kick-chop hiyah!"
If we are going for the "forgotten princesses", such as Eilonwy, and including Disney heroines, such as Alice, we should include all of these.
Megara, Pocahontas, Kidagakash, Marian & Eilonwy
Megara could have immortality, Pocahontas is just brimming with overall superhero-ness, Kidagakesh has magical crystal powers, Marian has animal powers, and Eilonwy has Summer Folk magic.

Re: Mega Fantasy City Map - My latest project
My commission schedule finally has slowed down enough to let me work in a few personal projects. I've been working a lot with painted-style textures, and have applied that to my pet fantasy city project.
The full map is here.
To give you an idea of what I've done to it, here is a before and after comparison of some of the tiles:

Re: Who's run The Savage Earth?
. . . Multitasking is a wonderful skill.How is Keith, anyway? I don't think I've seen him around lately.
I'm doing fine, thanks.
I stopped coming so often once the updates to the forums made them Safari-unfriendly. It was a pain to switch browsers just for Hero. Then I kind of got out of the habit.
I only discovered this thread by checking the referral logs for savageearth.net. I was curious as to why so many clicks from Herogames.com lately.
Thanks, LL. I know I've said it before, but you've always got a spot at my virtual table. As a matter of fact, I'm planning some revamps to the campaign to increase playability and decrease some of the complexity. There's a thread on my forums called "Savage Earth 2.0", if anyone would like to contribute any ideas.

Re: Bernal Sphere, O'Neill Cylinder, Turing Craft..
Here is a game I ran' date=' briefly. (Please note that the section on Enlightened Beasts was heavily cribbed from Keith Curtis' Savage Worlds)[/quote']While I appreciate the plug, It's Savage Earth, not to be confused with Savage Worlds, the award-winning game from Pinnacle Entertainment Group.

Re: Post-Apoc Adventures
Offhand' date=' I'd use something like Burroughs' Barsoom novels, with a few modifications. I'd also consider using Howard's Conan stories for inspiration. (Conan meets John Carter? That may be interesting.)[/quote']The entire big walled city in the middle of the wilderness with no supporting surrounding settlements theme was a founding principle in creating Savage Earth. I wanted that. Much of the campaign ground rules sprang from trying to find economic and ecological ways of supporting that essentially unrealistic but exceedingly cool concept.

Re: Post-Apocalyptic Hero -- What Do *You* Want To See?
Absolutely agreed. The TV show was one of those sanitized Civilization-of-the-week shows, but it was clearly post-apoc.

Re: Post-Apocalyptic Hero -- What Do *You* Want To See?
To be fair, the apocalypse features very little in the film which has a functioning (if stagnant) society. In the book, it features not at all, because there isn't one. If anything, the first Logan's Run book was closer to Cyberpunk than Post-Apoc.

Re: Post-Apocalyptic Hero -- What Do *You* Want To See?
While this is quite interesting and glad you posted it, it doesn't invalidate her photos and interpretations of those - in fact, doesn't it bolster them, that they aren't fake? Yes, it invalidates her biker-chick-going-it-alone but that's not the point anyway, as far as I saw it.As to her acounts of the wild and such around there, from other stuff I read that is also pretty valid.
I wasn't saying that her words weren't true or her pictures inaccurate, just citing that she's probably not the best source for someone trying to compile research.

Speaking of Chernobyl' date=' if you haven't already y'all should check out Kid Of Speed. Beautiful, haunting photography not of a ghost town, but of a ghost nation...Be careful using her as a reliable source.

Re: Staves
Having received 2 hours of introductory instruction in the quarterstaff from a professional*, I can say without equivocation that wielding a quarterstaff is absolutely nothing like wielding any kind of sword. Improperly wielded it should be treated like a club. Properly wielded, it can break bones with little effort. The 4th Edition STR Min was laughably high.
Using a quarterstaff is all about the proper use of leverage with a six foot lever.
If you are going to wield it like a pole arm, treat it as a spear with normal DCs instead of an HKA.
Keith "IMHO" Curtis
*Whatever that might mean. It was so long ago, I can't remember the guy's credentials. He was definitely into how to actually use the thing, which was not at all what we wanted. We were an acting troupe. We wanted to look like we could crack skulls, not actually crack them.

Re: Order of the Stick
Actually. I pretty much stick with my prediction on Roy being raised after an afterlife segment or two. I was surprised by the Hobgoblin victory; not sure how Rich is going to push them back out of the city' date=' but without Xyklon or Redcloak they can't hold it. Maybe something as easy as Redcloak ordering them to the next gate?[/quote']Perhaps Roy and Miko will briefly meet in the afterlife.
Keith "Of course, they will have to fight" Curtis

Re: Post-Apocalyptic Hero -- What Do *You* Want To See?
The original movie is thus' date=' and the original book isn't far off (it looks at first like a civilized planet of apes, and it [i']isn't[/i] Earth, but as the story unfolds we learn that its story was much like the Earth of the movie). However, the overall movie series and the TV series both deserve some mention as a post-apoc setting -- and a fairly well-developed one, at least in the latter case, IMHO.I was just about to post this very statement. In particular, Beneath the, Conquest of and Battle for are firmly supportive of the genre. The TV series very much so.

Re: Which is faster, Gravity or Light?
It would be cool if stupidity were faster than light. You could have spaceships fueled by stupidity.
"Scotty, we need more speed!"
"I'm sorry Captain! I canna do it. I've bought all the Amway and extended warranties I can, and I've got Reilly trying to get us into a land war in Asia!"
"Dammit Scotty, I don't want excuses! Exercise the option on the "Spock's Brain script!"
"That did it sir! Warp 11!"
Keith "I'd watch that show" Curtis

Re: Post-Apocalyptic Hero -- What Do *You* Want To See?
Alas' date=' you shall have to be cross. I don't want to cite specific campaign sites or similar resources in a genre book, if for no other reason than I don't want to look like I'm officially "endorsing" something like that. I'd rather let people find those things on their own. [/quote']This is wise. Such references would serve to confuse readers.

That's a good idea, Big Jack. You might want to pitch this to Flames, known everywhere else on the net as Jim in Buffalo. He might use for his Hero podcast.

One of my all-time favorite movie lines ever. It has great universal usage in RPG's as well. Open dungeon door, there's a beholder. ". . . We're gonna need a bigger boat."

Mega Fantasy City Map - My latest project
in Fantasy Hero
Posted
Re: Mega Fantasy City Map - My latest project
Not much, for several reasons
1) I don't want to pay a Hero licensing fee, so I would need to
create a new system to run it or
third) convert it to an OGL system, which would
finally) take a lot of work
and) not generate enough revenue to make it worthwhile.
