  1. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I've played a mute monk in a D&D game. I even had about 33 preplanned words and phrases worked out. Some included "Hi please to meet you, I'm mute taken an oath, can't speak" to "run away or we will all be goners". If you don't believe me I'll try to find the sheet and post it.
  2. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER We realy need to put that on a t-shirt for a gaming convention. Or just generally on a t-shirt. I can't imagine what kind of expressions people will give when they read it from a bunch of gaming geeks. Ok, maybe I can.
  3. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I went and saw Van Helsing today. As movies go it was overall enjoyable. A few horror scenes freaked me out big time but I'll like to see it again someday. I did think Mummy was better as it was new and original -- VH being a "Victorian Mummy". As others have stated plot was thin but that didn't distract from the movie IMHO. spolier: I though Frankenstein's monster being religious was a nice touch, ditto with VH's D&D paladin-like abilities: "This thing... man... whatever it is... evil may have created it, left its mark on it... but evil does not rule it. So I cannot kill it." Probably the most enjoyable part of the movie was the end with the credits rolling by. I was standing about halfway in the cinema between the screen wall with the projector and the music was just phenomenal! A shear delight! :smilie expressing exclaimation point: EDIT/PS: I liked the "James Bond" scene.

  21. Re: A Thread for Random Musings This is a bunch of words I came up recently and a exposition of some of the thought behind it. The quote pretty much came spontaneously, the exposition didn't. Hope you enjoy. ------------------- "civil war rarely is" -- Bazza Originally I came up with "Civil war usually isn't" but I like the above better; more concise and to the point. The irony is that we get civilisation from "civil" and supposedly "civil war" is "civilisation by warfare". I'm yet to find a civilisation created during constant warfare. Perhaps the Geneva Convention is the closest we have come to it -- that is off course if during all the chaos and madness people follow law and order. Some notable Civil Wars - The French Revolution (Marie Antoinette guillotined) - The English Civil War (King was beheaded -- ie regicide committed) - The Russian Revolution (Fall of the Romanovs -- the last Tsar Dynasty) - The American Civil War Civil war is tautology, there is nothing civil about war and by extension civilisation cannot be created during war.
