  1. Sounds a little like the latest Tom Clancy novel "Teeth of the Tiger" - that's meant not a criticism or allegation of plagiarism but as a compliment
  2. You might wish to take a look at some of Humphrey Hawksley's novels as a number of these focus on the political situation in SE Asia - mainly conflict / competition between China and India but Taiwan, Nepal, Myanamar and others all get drawn in. The obvious ones to read are Dragonstrike, Dragonfire and The Third World War. He has a website at: http://www.hhawksley.co.uk/default.asp
  3. Retribution - peace, quiet and Vodka (he is a Russian Atheist) Storm - to spend time with friends and family (she's on the run accused of killing her father Shadow Warrior - the latest computer technology Hyperion - some hot superheroine chick under the misletoe Onslaught - dead Triad members Warzone - the traditional Christmas - presents under the tree, Turkey and all the trimmings, carol service at the church, listening to the Queen's speech etc Siberian Tiger - time to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and Christianity, and to appreciate the freedom to do so (was raised in the Soviet Union by the KGB but defected)
  4. Thanks everybody for all contributions and suggestions. Sunburn and Sunstroke - good names for villains. I imagine Sunburn as having pyromancer powers as well as his daddy's solar powers. Somehow I see him as a "good ol' boy". Maybe his maternal heritage links him with the deadly seductress Heartburn whose gentle touch can give you a cardiac arrest or set you on fire! Sunsuit - an interesting idea especially if her father or one of her brothers took an over-protective stance due to her lack of "real powers". Twilight - no problems with you using this concept in any of your games. The idea of a "normal" writing an expose is another good one. A few further ideas from the Oprah / Jerry Springer shows. What happens if two of his offspring get it together but don't realise that they're related? Is the creation, a very powerful solar beast? What if Hyperion's philandering has left him infected with a rather nasty disease? Would the government cover it up? (has anyone heard the rumour that Glen Miller's disappearance was because he suffered a heart attack whilst with a lady of questionable reputation?). What happens when the baby of Lady America and Major Glory begins to emit solar radiation? Has Hyperion been up to his old tricks?
  5. I'm really enjoying this thread. Many, many intersting characters and much thought-provoking ideas for future campaigns... Re: Enforcer Must say that I found the background for Enforcer refreshingly original even if there were the nods to Champions Universe entities.. Is Anna still alive and does Enforcer have any connection with her anymore Re: Rising Sun Another interesting character. Would like to see more of the Pacific Lords, if you've written them up. Also the Dragon Foundation sounds like worthy opponents...
  6. In the campaign world I'm developing, many superpowers are genetic and as such can be passed from one generation to another. Not every child of a superhuman has superpowers but those that do, often have similar powers to their parent. Where it becomes interesting is when two superhumans mate. Their offspring might have no powers, might mimic one parent or might inherit both parents powers. Hyperion was the big name superhero of the 1960s and 1970s. Possessing solar based powers, he travelled the world defending truth, liberty and other good American values. Unfortunately he was a philanderer of the highest degree and has spawned children across the globe, many of whom have inherited his powers. The following are "children of the sun" that I've thought out so far. Can you think of any intersting additions to the family? Sunflower - Born in 1971 from Hyperion's marriage to minor European superheroine Chloropyll Girl. Possesses both solar energy blasts, flight and plant control powers. Now aged 32, she has settled down and retired from crimefighting. Her brother, from her mother's second marriage, is the deadly vigilante Warflower Sunspot - Born in 1975 after a one night stand with the Irishteleporter Pooka (female in my campaign). He is an active hero assigned to the UN superhuman division but refuses to recognise his father. Can turn invisible, teleport and project great heat Sunblok - Born in 1978 to Hyperion's second wife, reporter Mary Rhodes. Had no apparent powers. Served with the police until an armed robbery left him fighting for his life. A blood transfusion from the hero Cave not only turned him into a rocklike being like his donor but activated his latent solar powers Horus - In 1979, Hyperion was assigned to Egypt to protect President Sadat. He had a brief fling with the daughter of legendary Egyptian hero Horus. Their offspring mutated into a man-bird hybrid which terrorised the Lower Nile region until his grandfather took him under his wing, literally, and trained him to be his successor. Died in 1999 defending Western tourists from Al-Quaeda backed terrorists. Suntrap - Born in 1979. product of an affair between Hyperion and the villainous Locke. Rejected by his father so followed his mother's route into crime. Now one of the world's leading bounty hunters and a master escapologist. Leads the superteam the Blood Urchins consisting of other criminal offspring of superheroes Sol-3 - Second son of Hyperion and Mary Rhodes. Born in 1980. Avid Sci-fi fan. Powers activated whilst working for NASA. Reluctant crimefighter SunScream - another result of a one-night stand, this time with Irish vigilante Banshee. Sunscream wields both solar energy powers and a terrifying sonic scream. Born in 1982 Mirage - Another birth in 1982, this time to French reporter Marie Furnival. Only inherited her father's mirage creating powers. Was taken under the wing of the independent superhuman the Illusionist at the age of 18 and has grown into an effective superhuman for hire. Hasn't broken the law yet but has been employed by some shady organisations to use her powers to create distractions or diversions. Solar Girl - the newest hero on the block. Based in Fort Lauderdale, this hispanic 14 year old teenager has only made 4 appearances but seems to have all of her father's powers. However there is danger on the horizon as another similar looking Solar Girl with similar powers has made 2 appearances in Michigan. The newcomer definately has plans on taking the Solar Girl name for herself and for her own purposes. Any other additions to this family...
  7. Anyone read the first issue of Wanted by Mark Millar. Enjoyed it but wouldn't want to expose any children to the language and violence inside. SPOILERS Basically it's about a man who discovers his dad was a bigtime supervillain and member of a supervillain organisation that runs organised crime. Just curious as to whether you've done anything similar in your games where PCs have been the children of supervillains.
  8. In my campaign world, I had a character called Azure. Named after the colour of her skin, she walked out of the sea at St Tropez just like Pussy Galore in the Bond movie. Had no memories but was an energy blaster with flight powers. Other suggestions: Amber - Brick with time manipulation powers Argent - since silver is used against the Undead, may be some plot ideas there Pink - would be Punk rocker (!)
  9. Notice that Eurostar got away AGAIN. Who says there is no conspiracy !
  10. Heard from my cousin that Wyoming is plagued by a peeping tom with invisibility and desolidifcation. Many a woman has woken up with the feeling that she's being watched.
  11. You fool ! Can't you see that they're using divide and conquer to undermine the special relationship between the US and the UK. Everyone knows that its the Illuminati behind the European Community.. and just why is it that Eurostar never gets defeated by official European superteams, only independents and Americans ? Just answer me that.
  12. One idea that I had but never developed past initial thoughts was an all-girl superteam based on the phenomena that was the Spice Girls. Very brash, very British, "in yer face" Think my initial line-up was: Dragonness Babyface B*tch Iron Maiden Seductress On another note, if anyone has purchased Crooks for the Mutants and Mastermind game, there's an all female team in there called the Clique.
  13. Talking of characters who have problems with technology, has anyone done a right-up of the JSA's Mr Terrific 2 who is basically invisible to electronic sensors
  14. Re: 102 VIPER Plot Seeds Nice idea - how about another take on the TV reality show ? Anyone read the excellent Wildguard comic from Todd Nauck(?). Basic premise of the series is that a new superteam is being created and there are try-outs to be selected. What if VIPER were hosting their own tryouts for a new superhero team sponsored through one of their business ventures such as Duchess Industries. Such trials would give VIPER a potential new source of power, plenty new lab victims to examine/dissect, could implant mind control or sensor devices so that they could track these new heroes in their interactions with established heroes (ie the PCs). Much, much potential in this idea but I need to go home now so I'll leave it there for now....
  15. That Logan - he's one randy bug*er isn't he ?
  16. In my campaign world, the Paladins were an alliance of WW2 superheroes fighting the AXIS. They consisted of: Guardsman (English brick) Howitzer (female English brick) Kid Dynamo (English energy-blaster) White Dragon (Danish) Pax (Greek "Wonder Woman" clone) Claymore (Scottish) Aurora (Canada) Major Flag (USA) Greenstar (Ireland) Innominato (Italian master of invisibility) Gammadian (French descendent of Marie Curie) Windjammer (Dutch hero with wind powers)
  17. I think that the Brimstone Cowboy is a good name for a super from the Old West
  18. What about some of those VIPER nest leaders with superhuman powers eg Redstone - he seems to be missing from the list.
  19. All good candidates for the Super Names thread along with Captain Hornet SuperHornet Horny the Marvel Hornet Man-Hornet Bat-Hornet Spider-Hornet Black Hornet Blue Hornet Green Hornet (now that sounds familiar
  20. bzzzzzzzzzzzzz - thank you - bzzzzzzzzzz
  21. There's a 1960s "misunderstood" superhero called Hornet There's a villain in CKC called Hornet The leader of Mexico's VIPER nest is called The Hornet (El Crabajon or whatever it is - don't have my sourcebook with me at work). Coincidence, conspiracy or cock-up (proof-readers) ? Is there a story behind this ? What do you think ?
  22. Maybe he is sent to infiltrate / destroy a Christian movement but "sees the light" and is "born-again" - thus wishing to serve God Maybe he falls in love because we all know that "love conquers all" and that "perfect love casts out fear"
  23. I remember that adventure - and when White Dwarf was good. I never ran it though as I didn't think my players were mature enough not to try and hunt down their ancesters forcing me to explain the complexities of time travel, timeline divergence etc Of the White Dwarf adventures, I also enjoyed Peking Duck where the main battle was in a Chinese restaurant between the Triads, Mafia and a team of vigilantes. Also converted some White Dwarf Cthullu and Traveller adventures into Champions. Also enjoyed, from the same period, the Superhero UK fanzine and the adventure featuring the Pride and the Angels (later reprinted in Fantazia). Also fond memories of another fanzine "Its Clobbering Time". Wonder if any of these have been scanned and put on the web. Have also made great use of the Legacy of EAGLES adventure for Golden Heroes Champions adventures that I've enjoyed: The Dark Champions scenario-book featuring Reverend M, the Pack etc The murder mystery adventure in Champions Presents 2 with the death of Salamander
  24. Commonwealth Looking at the Commonwealth website , it appears that a lot of its work is spent promoting democracy, health, human rights and social transformation - all things that a superteam could be involved with. Thirty-two of the Commonwealth’s 54 members can be classed as small states. They have populations of less than 1.5 million and are characterised by their vulnerability in the areas of defence, environmental disaster, limited human resources and economic resources. The Commonwealth has played an important brokering role in recent events in Fiji, The Gambia, Solomon Islands and Sierra Leone All of this suggests that the CU Commonwealth would probably be interested in its own superhero team. I imagine it would perform the following functions 1) Defend smaller states from super-powered aggressors and terrorists (ties in with the post entitled Viper Rebellion) 2) Help states that have experienced environmental disaster 3) Promote health and democracy - using superhumans as spokespersons for various causes 4) Train and develop superhumans from smaller states - either a training academy or an exchange programme with hero groups from Australia, Canada, Britain or India
  25. Re: Americans on the team Since Canada is part of the Commonwealth, there could be an exchange agreement with a British, Australian or Indian superteam (only Commonwealth nations to have superteams as per Champions Universe if I recollect correctly).
