I'd like to see 1) A few state-sponsored supers from "enemy states" e.g. North Korea, Saddam's Iraq, Cuba etc 2) A team of Golden or Silver Age villains and their legacies - along the vein of DC's Injustice Society 3) One standard super-hero genre is the human (normally an American) picked to represent Earth in the interstellar law enforcement agency e.g. Green Lantern / Nova. How about a human selected to join an intergalactic criminal network 4) More low level "one-trick" villains similar to much of Spiderman's rogues gallery i.e Vulture, Rhino, Electro 5) A "deadly force" vigilante-hero team 6) Some supers believed to be on the side of evil but really misunderstood / victim of circumstances / have a secret mission that no-one understands 7) (neo-) Nazi villains 8) Products of the Soviet Union's super-human programme - possibly working for the Russian mafiya 9) Include this as a vote for a Lex Luthor type villain 10) And other villains that cannot easily be beaten by might 11) And another vote for Project Sunburst 12) And some deadly, dark counterparts from a parallel universe... 13) What Vampires are there in the Champions Universe

Advise/Suggestions appreciated What if the US Government are not working alone on this project - perhaps they are assisted, either knowingly or not by aliens who are trying to develop humainty's potential for superpowers to prepare them for intergalactic conquest etc. And maybe those aliens are working with other countries or groups at the same time..... all of which are coming to fruition...

Many great ideas on this post and I really am looking forward to Champions Worldwide – probably for me the most eagerly anticipated CU book A few things I would like to see: 1. Break away from American centeredness of the comics and make a superhero universe that is slightly more realistic. For instance: The only survivor of an alien race crash lands in Mongolia Earth’s representative in an intergalactic law enforcement agency is from Germany The reincarnation of an Egyptian war god can be found in Istanbul The next Sorcerer Supreme is from South America Also move away from stereotypical names. There’s no reason why Greenstar or IronHawk or Nimbus or Dr Toxic cannot be from Cyprus, Singapore, Ecuador or Poland ? 2. Explore the attitudes towards superhumans from different cultures, religions, nationalities. Do Islamic fundamentalist nations view superhumans as spawns of Satan. Would they seek their own superhuman assassins. What about the Vatican, People’s Republic of China, Japan’s view of mutants after Hiroshima? 3. Government attitudes towards superteams – are they crimefighters or branches of the military – the attitude of Holland may be very different to that of Israel or the Philippines 4. Details on foreign criminal and terrorist organisations such as the Triads, Yakuzza, Al Quaeda, the Mafia, Organitsiya etc – within this, explore their attitudes towards superhumans. For instance in my campaigns, the Yakuzza do not trust or use superhumans but will employ powered armour and other gadgets 5. The fictional nations of the CU 6. International law regarding superhumans 7. Explanations / Plot Devices as to why there are fewer superhumans in some parts of the world – for instance, did the South African government under Apartheid kill all black people showing signs of superhuman powers. 8. A range of characters including - Vigilante / street-level characters – who is the Batman-esque defender of Moscow, Berlin or Cairo? - A team of American superhumans who have based themselves in Europe or Asia to take advantage of the fewer superheroes - International mercenary teams 9. The return of some characters from previous incarnations of the Champions Universe including Terror Incorporated, Shamrock, Halfjack, Chemichameleon, High Voltage, Smuggler Blue, 10. Fleshing out the global history of the CU – which superhumans fought in WW2, Vietnam, th Czech Uprising, the Falklands War etc – also mention foreign superhumans of the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s – much of this would be in the sidebars. You could also have a competition to create a foreign superhuman from the past and describe his career in a brief paragraph to be used in the book eg: "Captain Invincible is probably the most famous superhuman to operate in the Caribbean even though his career lasted just 4years. Born in Jamaica in 1966, Wallace Francis was just 18 when his brother Donovan was murdered in a drug deal double-cross in trouble-stricken Kingston. His grief turned to anger and manifested in the ability to fly and project force waves from his body. Tackling the Posse that killed his brother, he failed to disguise his identity. They sought revenge slaughtering his parents and sisters. Wallace faked his own death. Two nights later, Captain Invincible made his debut and soon became the nation’s official superhuman. He was later sponsored by the Carribean branch of Interpol and operated in Aruba, Bermuda, Haiti and Trinidad. At the peak of his career, he was betrayed by a fellow officer and killed in his sleep by the assassin Taipan. "

Re: What cities could Batman call home? I've often wondered what Batman would be like if Bruce Wayne was a Londoner. Couldn't you see him patrolling the dark streets of the East End which in the past have been home to Jack the Ripper and the Krays. The City of London as a financial centre would be an ideal home for Wayne Enterprises Wayne Manor could be anywhere in the Home Counties but Royal Berkshire would be ideal.

Mutants and Masterminds mentioned in their Freedom City supplement a villain team called the Katanarchists - seems like an interesting mixture of traditional Japanese warriors (Samurai) and nihilism - which from I can gather is a strong force in Japanese society

Maybe I didn't make myself clear but there's a big difference between other nations publishing their own comics with or withour superheroes, and the way that the Marvel and DC universes are so US-centric. DC and Marvel's approach to other nations' superhumans within their universe just isn't realistic in my opinion (and yes I know that flying men, aliens and men who dress as winged rodents aren't realistic either).

Re: What superhero world concept are you tired of seeing? The whole American-centredness of most comic universes is the one thing that gets tiring very quickly. Is it realistic that every Green Lantern from Earth has been American? I know about the marketing issues but imagine how interesting a storyline would be if a GL ring fell into the hands of an Iraqui or a Chinese person. Thankfully the Champions Universe has a Spaniard as their Starguard. Why does every Alien who crashes on Earth land in the USA (not even other parts of the North American landmass such as Mexico or Canada). Superman, Martian Manhunter, Abin Sur, Starfire are all examples from the DC universe that I can quickly think of. What about an alien landing in Bosnia or Rwanda. How would that play out? Why are all foreign superhumans only from major nations (Britain, Japan, Russia, France etc). Let's see some heroes from Surinam, Mauritious, Bangladesh, Fiji, Poland, Malta, Nigeria, Syria etc

Re: What?? Bruce Wayne isn't Batman??? What if your universe's Batman was actually quite ineffective but didn't realise it. What if his maid patrols the streets behinds him and actually saves the day eg a wellplaced batarang to the villain creeping up on Batman,

Re: A new Silver Age Hero like world Whilst Sheffield was an ugly monstosity of a city back in the 80s, it is now considered to be a funky, forward-looking cosmopolitan place with good universities and research industries. For British urban blight, may I suggest Leeds or Bradford. Very few British cities are "all bad" but most of them have undesirable areas eg Moss Side in Manchester, Toxteth in Liverpool etc Returning to the question of a campaign name, how about Rocky City, Coastal City, Gulf City, Pacific City or Diamond City. Alternatively play upon the American trend of "borrowing" names from Europe eg New Vienna or New Leicester. I've always been fond of New Munich.

Just to confirm that the Omlevex sourcebook has reached London and was purchased just 30minutes ago by myself. Looks very good and from a first skim through, makes entertaining reading - which to me is more important than game mechanics (esp as I don't get to play that often these days)

There were 2 copies in Playing Games yesterday (near the British Museum) - but I got one of them - and then haven't had time to look at it yet - Aargh!

Of all the players that I have GM'ed, it was a pleasure to game with Richard Mealing and his character Battering Ram. Ram was a good ol' boy from Alabama - high school football star whose father fell in with Viper and used his son for experimentation. Ram was a brick with speed and growth powers, and an eye for the ladies hence the nickname "Big Boy" (we were only 18/19 at the time).
