  1. Re: PLEASE ! No more 'What would your character do ?' threads Posters who are still posting those threads are not bad in any way, just for disagreeing with the opinions of you all. Until a moderator enforces this you cannot expect to stinkeye people into doing what you want, even if it is the voice of many that want the particular thing. I might later today post one of these threads if I come up with a good idea, and it's just as legitimate as any other thread on this board. There is nothing wrong, and I would not be being a "bad poster" or malignant member of the community to do so. Just because multiple people are against doesnt mean that can be the majority rule. Until there is an official sanction I say that bullying people who put these on on this thread, which is far more purpose-less than any of those consistitutes trolling.
  2. Re: Ultimate Wonder Twins The Wonder Twins are not really aliens, just two earth metahuman kids, brother and sister, with elven features and control over the universe at an atomic level. Theyre both young teenagers, 12-17, but regardless of even if theyre 17, theyre still very naive, idealistic, ect. The idea is that theyre the sidekicks of all superheroes in general. When they show up it's another complication, but they can also be very usefull with their powers. The general theme I would create is that the only people fit for such cosmic powers are the innocent who would use them for nothing more grandiose than helping out whenever they see injustice or evil being done. And they half beleive/half pretend theyre alien royalty, when theyre really orphans.
  3. Re: Need a name for a hero... The Good Doctor
  4. Re: Campaign Premise - Elite: Year One Well I can imagine that there would be a lot of newly discovered Elites pressed to be "more like Miracle Kid", as far as being benevolent media celebrities. I can imagine that those that try to remain hidden or use destructive powers at risk of hurting bystanders will quickly find themselves shunned and under suspect of being "terrorist Elites".
  5. Re: Teams that Want to Change the World Well even the standard crimefighting team is more interesting when their scale increases not just by their personal powers, but by their operations. For instance, Justice League fighting every bankrobber and thug=bad But the X-men using their network of mutant allies, contaced via cerebro, to coordinate crimefighting all over the world= good And as for some other causes... How about a hero team that is for the humane treatment of supervillains? In exchange for more humane, if less secure, imprisoning of super-convicts, they offer their pro bono service to be on call in case of breakouts. They could sponsored by Amnesty International, ect.
  6. Re: Robin gets Robbed! I think the "Boy Hostage" bit as explained in the Dark Knight Returns is pretty apropriate. Robin is the distraction. The flurry of color that will distract an opponent and allow Batman to fight multiple or very powerful opponents easier. Along with this responsibility came the occupational hazard of sometimes getting captured while jumping in and using martial arts/acrobatics to distract the badguys. I guess I just dont think Robin ever got it that bad. He's the sidekick of the world's greatest crimefighter and while the Boy Hostage bit may be annoying, everyone knows how useful he is. If you wanna talk about sidekick-ish characters that got it bad, you should read Wild Cards. Poor Kid Dinosaur.
  7. Re: Need some name suggestions please Because they all sound so evil...but organized! The Sindicate
  8. Re: Silly Challenge Jason Todd, the second Robin, has a run in with the Egyptian gods in the afterlife, and winds up with the job of gaurdian of earth from the forces of darkness when Dr.Strange becomes possessed by a great demon temporarily. Warmachine is biologically fused with his armor in an accident, and gains mental control of all of the new line of Stark defense machines all over the world (including sattelite weapons). Bucky Barns, after WWII, discovers the secret lair of Red Skull and various Nazi experimental devices. Using a supercomputer and formulas to delay ageing, he predicts all major world events from then on, growing more intelligent and mad as he does.
  9. Re: Amalgamated Knock-Offs The Defender Society of America (well its Defenders/Avenger mix) Mr.Terrific/Iron Man- "T. Terrific, the world's smartest man who died of cancer but not before programming his brain into a dozen perfect androids" Power Girl/Vision- "Mirage, a mystical being with unbeleivable power and an unstoppable will" Dr.Fate/Dr.Strange- "Dr.Karma, private investigator and Vishnu dreamwalker" Catman/Namor- "Naman Grah'nt, Prince of the Jungle Realms" Starspangled Kid/Black Panther-"Cosmic Star, president of America-Sattelite in Universe-3" Wakeem Thunder/Rick Jones-"Rick Bolt, teenage sidekick with an omnipotent geenie" The Atom/Hawkeye-"Atomic Eagle, cold war icon and master of precision fighting"
  10. Re: Help with a Name Auslander (which I think means something that's a synonym to alien) or Teuton (the german superman clone in the group that tried to usurp The Authority)
  11. Re: New Guy Name Parasym doesnt seem any worst than these suggestions (no offense). What I mean is...it doesnt seem like that bad a name.
  12. Re: The White Rabbit I just wondered something frightening... er.. stuff I post on this forum is still mine right? Or by postign something here does it became property of Hero Games???
  13. Re: Inspiration for a new campaign The 3 man team of a skulker, a gambit type, and a mentalist seems a bit shady to me... an idea that Im getting from it is that theyre proffesional super-saboteurs. For instance they would never wanna face Dr.Destroyer, but they might take a job to sabotage his latest technomystical weapon of mass destruction. It's an ideal team, with the skulker facilitating infiltration, the gambit type being the fighter, and the mentalist who depending on their psychic powers will probably be redundant of one of the other two. Mercenary supers who specialize in sabotaging devices, plans, ect of supervillains.
  14. Re: The original Jewish Superman! Reminds me of Zishna Breibart (sp), a Polish Jew of great size and strength that had delusions/divine visions warning him about an evil from Germany. He died in Poland in the hospital a day before Hitler seized power in Germany. Rent the movie Invincible, Zishna is a cool real hero and the mentalist guy in it makes a great real villain.
  15. Re: The White Rabbit erm... well, unlike many of my threads on various forums about my ideas, this one isnt one looking for contributions of ideas for my universe, so the sentiment is appreciated but...
  16. Re: The White Rabbit That all sounds like slang Rabbits would use. I like it.
  17. Re: The White Rabbit That's awesome. And, since I didnt make it clear in earlier posts after reading the suggestion, though I did use it the text posted after I indentified that suggestion, er.. what I mean is, officially as of now, Hatters are people contaminated by Rabbit-Hole radiation, and Wizards are people that use and abuse a whole heckuvalot of Rabbit-tech
  18. Re: The White Rabbit Yeah, I think I'll keep the terminology all references to AoW, while taking names and inspiration liberally from Wizard of Oz and other sources for characters, names, ect.
  19. Re: The Last Hurrah (adventure for your use) Agent X, I really dont mind letting ChuckG's comments stand. and ChuckG, you do have valid points but you have put Agent X on the defensive (on my behalf, strangely) Not that I dont appreciate this debate, but I think that you should both just agree to disagree and let this go.
  20. Re: The Last Hurrah (adventure for your use) Been gone for a while on vacation, and I'm really glad to see that things have simmered down. I certainly didnt mean to offend anyone, originally at least, but I do get to be a bit of a hothead in a conflict. And just for the record, because the setting the adventure comes from is my baby: The Utopian/Meister-Verstand's act was not mind control or even hypnotic suggestion, he just gave a clever plan that Justice and the rest wouldnt of been able to concoct on their own, and gave Justice the push he needed to get the idea for their original going mad thing. Meister-Verstand is perhaps the worst and most powerfull villain in my universe and is in a lot of ways the perfect human, the most intelligent man on the planet and at least at the time of the Minutemen, a perfect physical specimen. Thematically, he's the Ozymandius analogy in the Minutemen story, though Meister-Verstand transcends beyond that and existed before that line was drawn. The Utopian was just such a minor detail that I originally intended to leave it out of the adventure, but it has always been part of my universe since the original Minutemen idea (check the Mutants and Masterminds forum and my 2.0 thread if you are interested). Generally the idea is that the government knew the Minutemen were unstable, and used that for control, but the fact that Utopian (who was considered stable, just vain and arrogant enough to be made loyal by authority and money, or so they thought) was actually a inhumanly brilliant Nazi villain was the X factor that allowed them to be pushed over the edge, the one thing their handlers didnt foresee. In fact the main reason that the government wanted Utopian in the Minutemen team was to be the brains to their psychotic brawn and they thought he'd have a stabling effect. Someone as smart as Meister-Verstand can put on a different personality like that better than an Oscar award winning actor. I hope this doesnt cause anymore problems, I just wanted to elaborate a little about my setting, is all.
  21. Re: The Last Hurrah (adventure for your use) Reagan has to be linked, and you couldnt change the plot. But the idea is that the Minutemen were picked by Reagan because they were the most susceptible to suggestion out of America's most powerful superhumans. They all underwent severe psionic and just old fashion conditioning to the point where they would never betray the president and become his assassin. However this all did not help their mental stability, so when the Utopian (actually the Nazi supergenius Meister-Verstander in deep cover) planted the seed of the idea in the leader and most political of any of them, Justice, it didnt take much to convince the rest of them to join in the plot to capture and destroy the nuclear devices of the world. The Hood did it out of nationalism and irrational hatred, The Killing Joke did it for his sociopathic kicks, and Nightwatcher did it because he was ordered to, and in his personality it was so ingrained that he didnt want to disobey an order from Justice. And US Law did it bececause he was a violent psychopath AND a nationalist. These guys were worldbeaters, and it took a whole lot of cooperation between the USA and USSR to stop them. It ended the life of the Hood, and the Utopian wasnt a part of it, simply slipping into another one of his cover identities. When Justice flew to into space the crisis was over, and the authorities did there best but could never find The Joke or Nightwatcher, and US Law was impossible to find as they did kill him, but he regenerated and escaped. Justice had been intercepting radio transmissions, and came down from orbit and instituted a secret meeting with the remaining Minutemen, all of them slightly less powerful than they were back in the day, but still extremely powerful supers (just not worldbeaters anymore). Being the ultimate patriot and American soldier, Justice (who is kind of a delluded Superman) beleived that now that Reagan is dead they all have to fall on their swords. They should of died before their master did, as retainers are supposed to (using samurai code for inspiration in this bit, I am). Maybe none of them but the near-alien in his insanity US Law and the larger than life Justice would go through with pushing the button, but Nightwatcher and the Joke were both whacked out enough to be part of the plot. The plot, that is, to end their lives and complete their mission of preventing nuclear war, by causing a nuclear holocaust of their own. Maybe I didnt make this all clear enough the first time, but still you'd have to really be not paying attention to think I was saying that Reagan wanted to cause a nuclear holocaust.
  22. Re: The Last Hurrah (adventure for your use) That's exactly what I was trying to convey Whamme. I'm just not exactly a clear speaker (or typer in this case)
  23. Re: The Last Hurrah (adventure for your use) That is the one thing Im trying to say. It's not a partisan hatchet job. Its just as plausible as any supers story, and there is nothing more "politically motivated" about Reagan having a secret nuclear base and recruiting superhumans he knew were unstable than saying that the American government in the 40's trusted a former Nazi scientist to test chemical agents on our soldiers (Captain America, anyone?). My point being, that stories dealing with elements of governments, good or bad, becoming the threat, are a regular supers trope. This adventure has nothing to do with my political beleifs, as I'm a teenager who couldnt give a rat's ass about what kind of president Reagan was besides trying to have a somewhat accurate impression of him for a fictional idea.
  24. Re: The Last Hurrah (adventure for your use) It appears that I am not the one who has overly strong political beleifs one way or the other. And the idea is that the Minutemen went mad with power, and in some ways tried to "pull an authority", which united the whole world, Soviet Union and USA against them. And I'm not saying that in my setting Reagan wanted a nuclear hellfire...the Minutemen are Cold Warrior fanatics. Theyre the equivalent of Jack Chick or Al Quaida, but to American cold war nationalist policy, not Christianity or Islam.
