  1. Re: It's almost 5AM and I'm thinking about Space Combat I think if you look through TE and STK you'll find that ship weapon systems don't have range modifiers. That's left up to the targetting system that is purchased for the vessel. I believe in TE the standard targetting systems are written up as +4, +8 and +12 vs. Range Modifier but, of course, you can make them whatever you want. As I understand it, the scale is 1" to 1", so a Dreadnaught wouldn't even fit on your standard battle mat. However, how much maneuvering and jinking is one of those ships going to do during a fight? Is it important to have them on the map at all? Capital ship to capital ship battles are basically slugfest where they hurl as much of their battery at each other as they can. range isn't really a factor considering the DCV penalties for size as well as the targetting system PSLs. Obviously, fighter combat works better on a battle mat. Given the average SPDs and Flight of most fighters from TE, you can very easily dogfight at the 1" to 1" scale, or at least make it a 2 for 1.
  2. Re: It's almost 5AM and I'm thinking about Space Combat Like I said, I've worked out a similar system using the custom Martial Arts section of UMA but using the same points system. If you haven't taken a look at it already it might be of interest to you. The system I developed is open ended to allow for modifications and expansions while still keeping it all balanced.
  3. Re: It's almost 5AM and I'm thinking about Space Combat I wrote a Piloting Maneuvers article for Digital Hero (http://www.herogames.com/digitalHero/Samples/DH19.jsp) that adds Martial Maneuvers to ship to ship combat.

  11. Re: Musings on Random Musings I'm sick of all the paranoia. Instead of publically scrutinizing someone, why not just ask the moderator for an IP check. But I guess that's just not as "fun".

  13. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER There's 30 seconds I'll never get back! *shakes fist at you
  14. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER No worries. I admit I was a bit peeved at the complainers ("crybabies" was an unfair word to use and I apologize for using it) and you just happened to be the last straw. I also apologize for being snarky and I believe you completely understand the reasons for my actions. So, we coo?
  15. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I can understand your position, but you made it sound like we were going out of our way to "punish" the people who post mostly in the NGD. We're not punishing anyone. I find it compeltely ludicrous for people to be upset about this change. Post count means nothing. Like rep, it actually reflects absolutely nothing about your value as a human being. To place value on your post count and/or rep is folly, IMO, and therefore complaining about any change in it is even moreso.
  16. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER I'm just adding another post to my post count. And to this thread.
  17. Re: The cranky thread It's funny how those who lack perspective can behave. During my recovery period, I used their opinions as a yard stick for my actions... and for a while it was a good idea because I had completely lost grip with reality. Then as a I started to heal and learn and gain perspective through therapy, I came to see the faults that they had in their own perceptions. Kind of strange. I would recommend therapy to a few of them, but I know they'd want nothing to do with it.

  19. Re: The cranky thread I'm hella pumped! I just got to BAN someone! Alright. Who's next? Who wants some? Who wants a little? You? You want some? Huh? You want some of this?
  20. Re: The cranky thread Thanks for the kind words, guys... There is a hilarious ending to the story... All of us are on Tribe.net (a networking website) and we all belong to different Tribes (different bands, interests, hobbies, etc...). Anyone can make up any Tribe they want. So... my friend creates a Tribe called "Hate for Haters"... a place where people can go in and just start talking crap to each other "for fun". He sends me an invite. He sends Sarah an invite. I decline because I just don't need to be a part of that, but apparently Sarah joined just to see what was up. This morning she tells me about what's going on in the Hate for Haters Tribe. Apparently, they're all slinging crap back and forth and having a jolly old time when my friend says, "Hey, why hasn't Ben "The Hater" Seeman joined this Tribe yet. It was made just for him!" to which other people reply with disparaging remarks akin to me being a female sexual organ or I shoot eggs out of my ass and what not). Sarah promptly quits the Tribe and sends my friend an email explaining basically what I explained before. His response? "I'm sorry you two fail to appreciate the irony of the Tribe." Wow.
  21. Re: The cranky thread Thanks. And the frustrating part is... these are the very same people who helped me through the difficult time. They were by my side, cheering me on the whole way, taking pride in my accomplishments and telling my how much they liked the new me. Bogus. Oh well.
