  1. Re: MYTHIC HERO: What Do *You* Want To See? Good stuff. I think you've already said "no" but I'll add a request for Fantasy pantheons -- generic gods and godlings that can be plugged into a typical Hero fantasy campaign. Gods of the elves, gods of the dwarves, gods of the monsters-we're-fighting sort of thing. Dieties and demi-gods had it, and I think it was a useful addition for folks who are doing gaming. If you need more specificity, then pantheons for specific Hero system genre books would fit the bill. Pantheons in the Turakian Age, for example. I'll add a request for a spirit based "pantheon" -- similar to Katherine Kerr's Devery books. In that series the elemental spirits -- Earth, Air, Fire and Water -- are the gods (called "Kings" in her books) and their lesser minions interact with people when magic is called for. These spirits on the whole are much nicer about it than, say, the spirits in the Valdorian Age. Other ideas: American Gods! Like the book by Neil Gaiman. How do I de-power a god to either: make them less powerful in a fantasy campaign, or for a more modern or urban fantasy campaign. Alternately, how would the world be different if modern gods existed? How many F15 Strike Eagles before a god starts to get nervous? (I realize some of these themes are dealt with in Urban Fantasy, but touching them again here doesn't seem out of place.) Other Fantasy gods: the Kikaha from Charle de Lint's Newford series. The Kikaha are an invention but they seem most similar Algonquain people, from the US North East and Quebec area. Here's a page on the Lenape which seems similar to his mythos, esp the mahtantu and Crazy (Whiskey) Jack. Since you might not want to de Lint's stuff directly, including the Algonquain mythos and then pointing out some ways to modify them might be useful. Plus, the Lenape are from the Delaware area, which would put them close to Hudson City. Hmm.... OK that's it! Mostly I'm concerned here about making sure this is a gaming supplement, not a treatise on real mythoi. Some nods to gaming (at least nods!) would be the best way I think to make sure as many people as possible are interested in picking this up.
  2. Re: APG II Commentary/Discussion thread I'm gonna guess based on Darren's previous comment that hiding your question here isn't the best idea. Did you try the Company Questions forum?
  3. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game Ayup. Remember most free players will only have 2 character slots, period. That's 2 total, not 2 per server. Spend them wisely! (I.e., pick a server you want to play on.)
  4. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game Not to thread drift (like that never happens) but saw this on another game news site: http://www.ngohq.com/news/20584-eas-new-user-agreement-bans-lawsuits.html Yes SW-TOR is being published by EA, and yes, they've already updated their EULA to have exactly these clauses. This probably belongs in the "how will you survive the coming plutocracy" but these things are just pernicious as all get out. I'm really steamed about this. I think somebody needs to adjust some laws so that binding arbitration can't be forced on a consumer like this.
  5. Re: Campaign Classic: Mythic Egypt This is cool stuff, Susano. Kudos!
  6. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game I think it's always worth a re-roll, unless you plan to spend a rename token. Better to do it now while you only have a few levels to make up. Name misspellings will bug you more the longer you play it.

  8. Re: Champions Villains Volume Three: Solo Villains when will it be on the shelf? Is Indie Press Revolution a distributor? Why is DOJ messing about with sketchy distributors if they have their own channel? I'm honestly curious, I thought IPR was going to eliminate at least some of this rigamarole.
  9. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game Yup. You can switch sides any time after level 20 through a series of "tip" missions. Or you can just create most archetypes on either side from the get-go. (Epic archetypes, Keldians and Arachnos, must start as hero or villain respectively.)
  10. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game Thinking about this a bit more... if you've got $15 to spare, but only that, you might want to save that for the store. It might be better for you to wait and then get $15 worth of points in the store, rather than blow your whole budget on one month of VIP status.
  11. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game Yes, the patch today only had some bug fixes and QoL changes. No free-to-play yet. If you've got the $15 to spare and want to hang out, sure come on down. I think it'll be at most two weeks, probably less, before they turn on F2P however.
  12. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game I understand. Both Keldians and Soldiers of Arachnos skip the tutorial by design because Paragon Studios felt it didn't mesh with their origin stories and special missions. I'm saying on your second run, when you did enter the tutorial, it sounded like you missed the comic.
  13. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game Big patch tomorrow (Tues, 9/20). And leveling pacts are being turned off, something they couldn't get working properly with Free and Premium accounts. My guess: Free to play starts tomorrow.

  15. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game BTW I wrote a review of the Freedom head start launch. It's mostly about the new payment plans, as that was quite long enough for what I was going for. You can read about it here: http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?t=153466
  16. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game It's a pain to turn on all those toggles every time you use it. Some tankers or scrappers have upwards of 6 toggles to turn on before each combat. So using RB with a fast moving team probably wouldn't work. By the time you toggled-up again, the spawn would be dead and they'd've moved on. Tankers at least are supposed to be first into a spawn, not last.
  17. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game No, that was nixed several issues ago (not sure how many).
  18. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game Rocket Board is a solid travel power. I plan to use it as long as possible on Time Chick. It's pretty fast on its own so it doesn't really need slotting. (Few travel powers do these days. Don't slot Fly for Flight Speed! It's actually maxed out right out of the box. Check your Combat Attributes to see this.) The disadvantage of Rocket Board is that it shuts off all your toggles. OK for a squishy, not fun for a Tanker or Scrapper. Just sayin'.
  19. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game No worries. I was confused by your comment.

  22. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game Wow, great stuff there, Samuraik!!
  23. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game Servers are officially up. I managed to spend some time getting names on the new VIP server. I missed Sapphire (taken!) but I got a few others like Witchcraft, Talisman, Shield Maiden, Red Arrow, Blazing Bolt, Night Elf Mohawk, Dark Valkyrie and some other names that are just for my own (like Maxine Pain, Rogue Black Widow, Time Chick and Iron Mistress).
  24. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game I'm reading up on Java Enterprise Edition managed beans right now, and later I'll probably go outside to get a little sun and exercise, but later today I'll probably pop in on Champion. Say around 5 - 5:30 pm Pacific time. If we get enough folks, maybe we can try some co-op content or something, maybe an ITF. I'm also getting a lot of blue-side badges that I've missed, so if someone wants to get an old badge we could run some Ouroboros missions too.
  25. Re: City of Heroes - Online Hero Game Fire/Fire Brutes are also supposed to be good characters. Fire damage + Fury = top level farmer & big AOE damage, afaik. On channels: You can right click on any chat pane to get a list of channels that you are currently a member of. You can also use the "Join Channel" option on that same pop up menu, or use "Search Channels" (again on the same pop up) to enter some words and get a list of matching channels. I use some key binds to switch channels quickly for chatting. Alt-H for Hero Boards, for example. "/bind alt+h chatset Hero Boards"
