  1. Re: Changing speed mid turn tables sweet, something that makes speed changing make more sense!
  2. Re: Sectional Body Armor and Hit Location I don't know about the current version, but 4th edition Ultimate Martial Artist has a list of which numbers mean which location (off the top of my head I think that 4 was the face, 5 the neck). It also had some other stuff having to do with weight.
  3. Re: Your "2005" Pet Gaming Projects I am currently working on a Homebrew setting, which has been moved around from several different systems (set on using HERO at the moment, with Tri-Stat backup for people who don't like crunch ). It's kind of similar to X-Men, in that there are humans who have "evolved" into something more, but it's not superhero, and is darker, the US is on verge of civil war over it (east vs. west this time). I'm still working on power levels, and all all kinds of fun stuff. Oh yeah, there's also a deeper setting that involves alternate dimentions (that's kinda complicated). I'll have to make a new thread about this sometime.
  4. Re: Help on mechanics for 1st ever HERO session I'll mention Exalted, since my heart of Exalted know no limit. I think that pulling the stunt rules straight out of Exalted is perfectly viable, though for some fantasy campaigns some of the stunts that are possible in exalted might be a bit much. Leaping up and grabbing a vine, swinging around and hitting opponents is good, heck, maybe even "I yank on the vine so it pulls me up into the air, and come down on my foe like a comet, piercing him with my sword". Now then, would "As the volcano is erupting around us, I rush towards my opponent, nimbly leaping from of piece of ash to another..." as you can see. Honestly, I plan on using the stunt mechanics for Star Wars if I ever get the chance to use it, though only jedi will be able to do the really amazing stuff (ash jumping). You might want to fiddle with it, see if you want three levels of stunting as either +1s or +2s. I can't say, personally, as I haven't been able to actually PLAY any HERO yet, so I don't know how much of an impact bonuses have on rolls. Best of luck to ya!
  5. Re: Why should I play HERO? I just had the interesting idea of making a level based game with Hero... not that I'll ever do it though, as I don't like level bases very much! Anyways, welcome, ye olde mad_irishman! As someone who just got the revised book (like two days ago) and started with the sidekick, I must say that this system fits most of my rpg needs! I'm still digesting ReFRED, since I have chosen to read it cover to cover But, much goodness inside. Hope you have fun with it!
  6. Re: Instant alien beast... Is that a Bear with a spider's head?
  7. Re: A Treatise On "Only vs. (X) SFX" Limitations Oh, I just thought of something though. If it's a modern setting, then Ballistics should definitely cost more than the others. So, at least -1 for it, possibly more depending on other factors.
  8. Re: A Treatise On "Only vs. (X) SFX" Limitations You know what, I totally agree with you. The price should vary depending on the campaign setting. Anyways, I'm not one for speeches, so that's all I have for now!
  9. Re: How about this sci-fi battle.. Ouch... now I just need to see firefly...
  10. Re: Controlling Fire Wow! thanks for all that, I wouldn't have thought of a few of those things myself! And thanks to everyone else too!
  11. Re: Controlling Fire K, thanks for your help, that cleared things up!
  12. I'm wondering how you'd create a power or group of powers dealing with the generation and control of fire. Telekinesis (Only with fire) seems like a good bet, though I'm not sure how you'd tell how much fire you can control. This also doesn't cover the generation of fire. How would you guys do this? Thanks in advance!
  13. Well, I'm looking to get into HERO System, but I don't have 45 bucks to spend on it, so I thought I'd just get sidekick for the moment... unfortunately it's gone! I can't find it anywhere! So I was wondering, is it going to be getting a reprint? I suppose on a similar note, is 5th ed. revised getting a reprint as well, or will I have to settle for either a pdf or a damaged copy now? Inquiring minds want to know!
